We needed a child care option on short notice and chose this school because of a recommendation from a friend, the Spanish classes and the affordable tuition and ended up being so thrilled with our choice that we drove him 40 minutes each way for his final year of preschool after we moved to Illinois. Our last year at the school was with Mrs. Stacy and she is by far the best teacher we could have ever imagined. Each morning she personally greets each of the children like they really matter, takes an interest in their interests, engages them, keeps a stable routine and is patient. Entering kindergarten, my son knows all of the letters and sounds, recognizes numbers, can count to 1000, can write all of the letters, writes his name, can read about 500 sight words, can sound out many words that he doesn't know from sight, knows Spanish color words and number words and so much more! We were not members of the church, but that did not change the way they treated our son in their care. I can't say enough great things about TGCA preschool!

I can tell you now that it's not the same. I dropped her off Monday morning at 8:45 to a playground with 100 kids. I didn't get to meet her camp counselor, and I was not able to enter the school due to Covid. I was okay with that, and nervous at the same time but again, I had attended there as a kid for several summers and my daughter has been in school since she was 2yo. She is friendly and delightful child so I thought I was making the right decision. By 9:30 am I was getting a call while at work. The director called me and told me that my daughter was having a rough morning, and trying to adjust. We picked her up early. The next day I called around 1pm and they said "they hadn't heard anything, so she must be fine." Thursday morning we dropped her off at 8:45, before my husband could make it to work, we were receiving a call saying that she was crying, and we need to pick her up right away and that this would HAVE to be her last day. The director told me that she didn't have the staff or the time to accommodate my child. They had 3 teachers to several 3 & 4 year olds. As a mother I was distraught. I couldn't believe that they had through my thrown my 4 yo out of summer camp. I wrote this to say that I am very disappointed in what this school has become. Also, I feel as if they didn't have the staff, why would they take on more than they could handle? So if your child needs special accommodations, or more attention than the average child. This is not the school because they clearly don't have the time. If I could have given zero stars I would have. I sent my daughter here with the intentions of her attending the school for kindergarten, but that won't happen. They made my child feel little, and they made me feel horrible as a parent.

Yes 6 years as I started in 7th grade as was usual for this school. I could write a book about my years here but won't bore you with all the dumb things I did while attending this fine institution. When I went and today even more so a College Preparatory School. In short it is plug and play. You go in 7th grade and come out prepared for college. This was the same for me, my uncle who attended in the 30's and my two sons who attended in the the late 90's and early 2000's. When I went here most of the classes were taught by Brothers and Priests. Now it has gone all lay teachers. I guess things were different when I went as if you got out of line literally or figuratively you felt the consequences. My sons did not. All three of us turned out OK. I am proud that I went here, proud both my sons went here and will remain a Chaminade man for my life.
