My husband and I visited every school from Kalaheo to Hanalei, both public and private. St Catherine appeared to be the best fit for our 4th & 6th graders, so we gave it a whirl (Hanalei Elementary came in second, with Island School third). The school is unpretentious. In fact, it is modest in every way. The principal, Celina Haigh, was warm and welcoming. The staff here is really good and the administration (props to Laura Lindsey) is amazing. Academically, the curriculum is quite challenging. Chef Gilly makes amazing hot lunches too. Parent involvement is encouraged and welcomed. Tuition is super reasonable, with every consideration given to affordability of families. My kids are better for their time here. They learned the most important skills in life: love, acceptance, encouragement, and humility. They are down to earth and enjoy serving others. When we moved back to California after four years (insert huge sigh here) I was still kind of worried they would be behind in their academics. But, not only wasn't this the case, but they were actually ahead of the game in science (kuddos Sam Henriques), math (John Rowell), and history (John Rowell). Not to mention, they had some killer stories/experiences to share- Kokee field trip, the on-site garden, and raising chickens. SCS offers a wide variety of after school enrichment programs (track, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Service Club, Lego Robotics, dance, ukulele, and more) that are really quite fun. Bus service is provided by Larry & the kids LOVED him!!!! St. Catherine was the best decision I made while living Kauai. They offer a warm, loving, morally sound and stimulating environment.

They have inmates who are incarcerated working at their childrens carnival on work release walking around unattended and didn't notify the public of their presence. Extremely expensive school meals, if they serve them (which is not consistent). They keep on staff teachers who have gotten multiple complaints against them from previous years then when you experience and file a complaint yourself they blame it on previous admin. All together a really expensive daycare (can't call it a school) with a great art program.

Always expected by kids to take the same road. But I know others who had horrible experiences and/or choose to make poor decisions. Public school can be a gamble on shopping your Childs character. We started our daughter in Pre-school at KCA and have kept her into 2nd grade. It's been an amazing experience. The student body from Kindergarten into high school is so well behaved. KCA has created a solid God centered culture supported by great staff and teachers. We have only experienced the teachers up into 2nd grade but the staff just seems to get better and better. Our son is now in pre-school and we look forward to the coming years and the small classroom sizes.

She absolutely loves attending and enjoys her teachers. She comes home and shares what she is learning, which shows me her teachers are making school interesting and fun. Olelo has helped to create a great foundation for learning and I love that she is learning the Bible in all aspects of her studies. The children are polite and kind and she has made some sweet friendships at Olelo. I look forward to her continued growth at the school and am grateful for the teaching staff and administration. Students wear school shirts daily, with several different designs in an array of colors, personally I think it's super cool- and a way for faculty to keep track of students. Morning time can be confusing, as there's cones set up for student drop off. Park in a marked Visitor stall right up front. Check in at the front office and get a Visitor sticker so that staff know you've signed in. Visited their campus on a Wednesday and Friday, to do presentations to their HOSA classes. With bright red buildings and open spaces for students to hangout, I really enjoyed their campus.

You could chose to go see 1 doctor or all doctors. Everything will be provided for you. If you see an optometrist and need glasses, they'll give one for free. If you need a physical, they'll do it for free. If you need a filling for your teeth, it will be free. These people are so nice and have devoted their time to help others. The only downfall is that you would have to wait a long time to see the doctors but it's all worth it! From the very beginning, Lorna was incredibly supportive, attentive, and detail-oriented. She kept in touch before our trip to make sure she understood all of Camila's needs and was in constant communication during the trip, sending real-time updates, texts, and photos so we always knew how things were going. Initially, a different caregiver was assigned to us, but when things didn't go as planned, Lorna went out of her way to step in and accommodate us for two full days,something I'll always be grateful for. She brought a huge variety of toys, books, snacks, and even meals for Camila, going far beyond what I ever expected. Camila is autistic and non-verbal, and sometimes it can take time for her to connect with someone new. But with Lorna, the connection was almost instant. Camila lit up when she saw her and was always sad when it was time for her to leave. That alone speaks volumes about the warmth, patience, and care Lorna provides. I will absolutely be coming back to Lorna every time we visit Kauai, and I'll be recommending her to all my friends and family.
