Always expected by kids to take the same road. But I know others who had horrible experiences and/or choose to make poor decisions. Public school can be a gamble on shopping your Childs character. We started our daughter in Pre-school at KCA and have kept her into 2nd grade. It's been an amazing experience. The student body from Kindergarten into high school is so well behaved. KCA has created a solid God centered culture supported by great staff and teachers. We have only experienced the teachers up into 2nd grade but the staff just seems to get better and better. Our son is now in pre-school and we look forward to the coming years and the small classroom sizes.

We moved to Kauai from the highly regarded CVUSD in California. My husband and I visited every school from Kalaheo to Hanalei, both public and private. St Catherine appeared to be the best fit for our 4th & 6th graders, so we gave it a whirl (Hanalei Elementary came in second, with Island School third). The school is unpretentious. In fact, it is modest in every way. The principal, Celina Haigh, was warm and welcoming. The staff here is really good and the administration (props to Laura Lindsey) is amazing. Academically, the curriculum is quite challenging. Chef Gilly makes amazing hot lunches too. Parent involvement is encouraged and welcomed. Tuition is super reasonable, with every consideration given to affordability of families. My kids are better for their time here. They learned the most important skills in life: love, acceptance, encouragement, and humility. They are down to earth and enjoy serving others. When we moved back to California after four years (insert huge sigh here) I was still kind of worried they would be behind in their academics. But, not only wasn't this the case, but they were actually ahead of the game in science (kuddos Sam Henriques), math (John Rowell), and history (John Rowell). Not to mention, they had some killer stories/experiences to share- Kokee field trip, the on-site garden, and raising chickens. SCS offers a wide variety of after school enrichment programs (track, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Service Club, Lego Robotics, dance, ukulele, and more) that are really quite fun. Bus service is provided by Larry & the kids LOVED him!!!! St. Catherine was the best decision I made while living Kauai. They offer a warm, loving, morally sound and stimulating environment.

They have inmates who are incarcerated working at their childrens carnival on work release walking around unattended and didn't notify the public of their presence. Extremely expensive school meals, if they serve them (which is not consistent). They keep on staff teachers who have gotten multiple complaints against them from previous years then when you experience and file a complaint yourself they blame it on previous admin. All together a really expensive daycare (can't call it a school) with a great art program.

One thing to note is that Waimea has a fantastic ocean view. It has a small country feel with a to die for location. One thing to note is that there is a stupid bird called the Shearwater. I mean, no offense to the bird but Waimea High School used to have their football games in the evening. Now they can't because some environmentalist said these birds would get confused or something laying their eggs due to the lights in the stadium. Really? How have they survived all these years then? Anyway- Waimea High School had to change their sports games to the afternoon which is hot and now the kids are all looking for something to do on Friday nights- and if they don't crime rises. This rule is ridiculous, school sucks as it is... could you make it a little more bearable. So far I did this school. They are also closing in on the achievement gap by using data and giving kids the support they need.

It doesn't get any more "Local" than this. "The Most Western School in the US." Atmosphere: A great country side school, located by the beach. Everyday is a sunny one. Staff/Teachers: Teacher's are top notch. Very helpful to the kids. 2 "Teacher of the Year" awards were given here, so you know the education is good.

Olelo Christian Academy has been an amazing school for my daughter. We enrolled our daughter when…read morethe pandemic hit and have never looked back. She absolutely loves attending and enjoys her teachers. She comes home and shares what she is learning, which shows me her teachers are making school interesting and fun. Olelo has helped to create a great foundation for learning and I love that she is learning the Bible in all aspects of her studies. The children are polite and kind and she has made some sweet friendships at Olelo. I look forward to her continued growth at the school and am grateful for the teaching staff and administration. Olelo is a true blessing to our family!

My daughter attended Olelo from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Olelo helped shape her foundation for good study habits and solid character in Christ. She in now in her second year of college and thriving. Now my boys are both attending and my family is truly blessed by being in Olelo. Highly recommended.
