I cannot speak highly enough of this organization. They are a non-profit, no kill shelter for cats…read moreand dogs. I have personally adopted two dogs from HART over the past several years and these animals are two of the kindest, most gentle creatures on the planet. The description of the dogs' struggles and strengths was accurately described by staff. Both were well adjusted and people friendly. The shelter itself is clean and the dogs appear well taken care of. Staff stayed in the room with me as I met the dog to answer questions and to see the relationship between myself and the dogs. The application is available online and it can be pre-approved before you even see a dog. This really cuts down on the disappointment that the dog you were interested in might be adopted by someone else while they determine your suitability. With both dogs, we were sent home with the heartworm medication that had been started at the shelter. For one of my dogs, that was almost three months of medication. My dogs were both fixed and fully vaccinated. They were both chipped. The adoption fee was a little under $200. Some might feel that is a lot for a mutt a few years old. I'm here to tell you I actually wrote a check for my dogs that exceeded the adoption fee because I was so very grateful for the way they run their business. I want HART to continue to have the ability to to flourish and grow. PetSmart sometimes features their animals during their adoption events in store. You can also give donations to HART at PetSmart during some points in the year. Consider supporting them with your donations and adoptions. It is well worth it.

Stay away from this unprofessional dog rescue. They are clearly so busy going to farmer's markets…read moreto sell dog treats that they can't get back to the folks that want to adopt their dogs. We started the adoption process because we saw a beautiful dog on petfinder.com that we fell head over heels for. We submitted our information, and when I didn't hear anything for a week, I called to leave messages as well as emails. It took two weeks to finally have someone call me. The people that run this place, claim that the lack of professionalism in responding to simple phone calls and emails, is the fact that they run a small operation. Whatever, all I know is that they strung me along for over two weeks, and when they finally called our references (this past Saturday), the puppy that I was looking to adopt had already been adopted 4 days earlier! I found out on facebook, when I was checking out their page to see when they were having a fundraiser, when they had a great picture of somebody with the puppy I thought would be mine. I'm going to have to stop writing this review, as the tears are getting on the keyboard.

I…read morereached out to the catsnap email (my guess is they don't have a phone # due to all the calls they would rcv on poor behavior) giving them a description of our missing kitten. 5 months old who also was a bit delayed from birth. Hand raised and loved and taken care of but he insisted on being outside and there was no preventing it. Mercy emailed back telling me how cruel I am as a person to have a cat outside and also giving me statistics on cats killing animals, at high risk for being hit and being a nusence to neighbors. When she found out our kitty died she had another email insistent how it was my fault and I was cruel and caused the death and again telling me winter is coming. I let her know that we have a heated garage our cats stay in, food, water, beds and outside coverage with heat lamps for them. None of that mattered. I asked for my emails to be sent on to higher ups and she essentially told me they don't care, and the president feels the same way she does "It is sad the kittens could not have a loving home inside safe from wild animals and traffic or other dangerous situations. Winter is coming."

Unfortunately, our experience with Catsnap was less than desirable. We showed interest in a…read moreparticular adoptee. We provided an application, they checked in with our veterinarian and were told we are exemplary pet parents. A week goes by and we hear nothing back after multiple attempts were made to reach out to them. We drove the hour and fifteen minutes to the PetSmart in Champaign, Illinois the following weekend and low and behold there was the kitten we were interested in through Catsnap. We spoke to the Catsnap staff and were told they weren't through all the proper processing yet. A week had passed! I asked to hold a kitten and was told only people who had made the final application cut could hold an animal. We were right there, 95% or more of our application was finished, we were ready to adopt and take a new addition home to become a part of our family. We left empty-handed and later that night I received a short email saying this kitten had been adopted out to a different couple. There was nothing in the email saying we were approved to adopt another cat, nothing saying there were others which needed a loving home and would we be interested in saving another one. Just nothing. I had just lost my cat of sixteen years. We were clearly invested in providing a forever home. Our dog Riley has been with my significant other for more than 8 years and has always been well vetted. We returned for another adoption weekend with a different local shelter and today we brought home a ten month old cuddler. My heart is complete and it didn't take this other agency over a week to determine if we would be great pet parents. I feel sorry for the animals who never get their forever home simply because of the lack of timeliness of a Catsnap application review. If I'm willing to spend $125 dollars or more for a new pet, I'm certainly going to invest in providing the best home possible. I understand being particularly cautious, but adopting a child might be easier than adopting through Catsnap.

You're supposed to call once completing the application to set up an appointment. When I called about an hour after filling out the application, I was as told by Judy the lady who runs/owns the rescue that someone else called for the cat and she would be meeting with him over us because he allied first even though we filled out an application first! I guess she knew him cause he had already adopted from them before. She offered up some of the other kittens from the litter but my 5 year old was set on the one we applied for. How do you do that to people who have emotionally committed themselves to an animal? By not even considering to try and talk to this other applicant and explaining to him he was actually not first for this cat and telling me he's adopted from them before and called first, she's lost my business forever. Unfortunately for all the cats and kittens, I will never adopt from this FOR PROFIT organization, ever! My husband and I were actually in the market to adopt several older cats and a few kittens (we're getting a farm) and will never deal with this organization again! My kid is actually heartbroken right now and so am I a bit. This woman should not be in charge of this organization, there's nothing organized about it. This was just so wron and terrible! I'd suggest adopting from somewhere else to avoid the heartache!
