Unfortunately, this has not been a positive experience at all. There are some elements of this process that should have been great but unfortunately, too many things have gone wrong and failed to be rectified and Wilmslow kitchens have now been ignoring me for over 3 months. We paid nearly 70k for a new kitchen and utility. The design was wonderful. The start of the fit was promising. Then things have just gone wrong. A 4-6 week fit went on for nearly 4 months. There were sometimes weeks on end where no one came, while being told there were other customers that were more important. No idea why we were less important. Some days tradesmen turn up and couldn't do anything as their part of the job wasn't ready. The breakfast pantry was a disaster and made no sense to the original design, covering up a very expensive quartz table top with mdf carcass (eventually resolved to a mediocre standard). We had a seating booth custom built that they built out of mdf and we're going to leave as mdf. Took weeks of arguing to get them to paint it (which they eventually did). The look of the materials is good, but you are paying top dollar for mdf. The skirts are not even marine quality mdf, so within days of fitting, they started taking in water from mopping the floor and the likes and cracking and bulging. They did try to solve this by sending them for an extra layer of paint, but it still didn't seal them properly (photos attached). After wanting to do a big deal "on a handshake", they then want to back trade and charge you for every item that you would expect to be included but not specifically written down, even though they clearly wanted the agreement to be vague. After fitting; we have nearly half of the handles spinning, some doors and drawers that aren't quite straight etc that shouldn't be a big deal to snag, but after 3 months of being ignored, still no sign of this being resolved. The skirts for a supposed high end, extremely high priced (you can buy a house for what we have spent), are cheap materials, unfit for purpose, that get worse by the day. They refuse to engage on a solution. Saying "we've not experienced it as bad as this anywhere else", with the interested point being "as bad", suggesting this has been an issue elsewhere, but in reality, it shouldn't matter if this is the first or last time. It's awful and they should be at least responding and engaging to find a solution. I have offered multiple ideas, but can't even get a response. I don't want to make out it's all bad. It isn't. There are clearly some very good results and clever fitting. The issue is that I have paid in full and they don't want to spend any money putting the things that are not fit for purpose right. Which makes it really hard to be positive about the things that have gone well. For 70k, this is the single biggest purchase of my life outside of my house. I was quoted 20k by B&Q, but went high end because I thought I would get 2 things; 1) a better quality of product and 2) a better service. I'm not convinced I got either. The products (I'm talking wood/cupboards here, not whitegoods etc) don't seem to be high end to me. It's nicely painted mdf. But the service has been awful. No matter how reasonable or amicable we have tried to be, they just ignore us. I feel sorry for some of the staff as they are nice guys and clearly beat down and under pressure. Unfortunately I am having to take a formal complaints procedure with a view to moving into a legal solution. I wish this wasn't the case. I don't really have the time for it and just wanted a few things resolved that clearly (you can see the photos) are not fit for purpose. But I couldn't in all good conscious recommend Wilmslow Kitchen Interiors. read more
