What a great little find in Orange! It was tempting not to do a review so we could keep this gem a…read moresecret for a little longer. We visited Orange for a day trip from Sydney and had lunch at Charred. They have a great wine list and a surprisingly extensive Beer and Cider list. I couldn't go past tasting one of the oatmeal stouts they had on offer (it was the last bottle!) which was a great start to our meal. Their dishes are made for sharing and every single dish we had, I mean every - single - dish - was super delicious. For some reason I've found this pretty rare these days. We started with the chicken liver parfait with elderflower jelly and house baked bread and crackers. The jelly paired wonderfully with the creamy smooth parfait. It was also served with some amazing pickles. I wanted to order every single one of the Medium plates but settled for the pork belly and two bone marrows (you order them per piece). The pork belly was tender and delicious and came with a thai dressing that cut through the fattiness of the pork. The bone marrow was delicious, I spread mine on the their warm home made bread. The parsley and caper salad was a great combination for the marrow. For our main, we skipped the large plates and got the Venison shanks which was one of their specials. There is a local venison farm where the venison is sourced. Oh my. The meat was fall off the bone tender. The sauce was sticky and rich. The serve was huge (they did say the main or large plates were, well, large). We also ordered a side of the moroccan carrots which we probably didn't need as the venison was served with roast carrots and roast potatoes... but then we would have missed out on that gorgeous almond cream. We were so full that we had to take some of the venison and carrots home in a take away container (which the staff were more than happy to oblige). We didn't think we could fit any more in, so decided to just order a *few* doughnuts. What a fabulous meal. I was so happy afterwards that I couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear. We were seated near the kitchen and I overheard a group say that they came up from Canberra just to try the restaurant. I would do the same! They bake their own bread and also sell loaves to take home. I couldn't resist taking a loaf home, if only to extend the dining experience. We are already planning a return visit and we'll be bringing some friends with us.

This is more of a foodie experience than what we expected. Although the menu was a set price of $70…read moreper person for 3 courses, the quality of food was amazing and the wine selection the best we ever had. Our only regret was the final bill and that we should have shared a set menu as we could not finish all 3 on our own. If they allowed ordering single menu items or even 2 courses for $50, we may return again :)

Not sure why there aren't any reviews up, because this lovely place is popular. I would consider…read morethis an upmarket yet understated (read: not posh pants) place, complete with mood lighting, linen manchester, silver service, pretty food and elevated prices. But it's worth it, for a special occasion. A good range of ages were represented and plates were mostly heading back to the kitchen empty. That's got to be a good sign. I enjoyed all three courses, sneaking a taste of a couple of the others on the table. Our table, that is. Not the one next door. Although... the neighbouring table was so close I could have sneaked a morsel from their plate. And the nosy parker did seem inordinately more interested in our conversations than those of her companion. That might be my only criticism. The seating position could be spaced out a little bit more. We left in high spirits, with full bellies and lighter wallets. But we weren't complaining.

As we were in Orange NSW we couldn't think of a better place than Lolli Redini. We have been there before and knew what to expect - good service, warm atmosphere and carefully prepared food . They are consistently voted as a top place to go in the area so we knew we wouldn't be disappointed! I have to tell you I wanted to give them a five star because every bite of our meals were amazing. The way they combine local ingredients to create their dishes is truly a great experience. The only issue we had was we were greeted by someone that had very little experience and although she was trying hard to please, fell short in the beginning . We had to firstly ask for a menu after being seated for quite some time then we had to give our order to another staff member because they were not confident that she had filled out the order form properly - and we heard about the evening special after we already decided on what to have. But these are little things and after that the food made up for it . Okay, three courses for $95.00 is okay for nice food, and my wife ordered different dishes than I so we could switch at the halfway point and get to experience six courses each. My wife chose a Prawn Squid Ink Pasta with Baby Zucchini for starters, Mullaway fillet with Leeks and Spanner Crab Sauce, and a Rhubarb Strawberry Parfait. I chose a Broad Bean and Pea Risotto with Pancetta for starter, Pork belly with celeriac gratin and Granny Smith apple sauce, and pressed chocolate soufflé cake with fresh figs. The Pork Belly and Chocolate cake were stand out items for me but all the food was amazing. Please try it. If you go,try their signature cheese soufflé - it has been a standout there for years but we wanted to try other dishes.

Our saving was to stay opposite at the budget hotel which is just a short walk away and very comfortable. Darley's is very expensive but worth the experience. It is a special gift. The restaurant fills the old house. There are 5-6 fireplaces and the decor is reminiscent of days gone buy. The service from when we arrived at the front door until we left was excellent. All six staff (especially Tony) were attentive and friendly. The food was terrific from the bread to the delights served with coffee. In fact, we asked for extra bread to mop up the sauce that came with the venison. No problems. The mix of flavours on each of our plates was really good. The presentation of each plate was interesting too. There was no rush and we were able to savour each mouthful.

Everything there sounded so unique and amazing but all the uniqueness was just too much and the flavours didn't mix well. So when told my birthday dinner was to be held at Darley's, a hatted restaurant, I was very surprised and very skeptical. Reading through the menu it all sounded very fancy which raised my suspicions even more. How wrong I was... thankfully! The food was so divine and I love how they try to use fresh local produce. For entrees we went with the kangaroo and wagyu beef tatre. Normally I'm not a huge fan of steak tatare but I couldn't get enough of their tatare! The kangaroo was cooked to perfection. For mains we decided on the lamb because the cannelloni of braised lamb belly and the duck. Normally i'm a bit hesitant to order pork belly because it's too fatty for me but with the lamb belly because it was in cannelloni form I completely forgot that it was even lamb belly inside and ate to my hearts content. Of the whole meal if anything the dessert was a little let down for me. We had the Caramelised Fig, Woodford Honey, Sheeps Milk Yoghurt, Granola Crumble, Orange Granita, Fig Leaf Ice Cream and the Mango and Lychee Sorbets, Crisp Meringue with Passionfruit Curd, Pickled Green Mango, Fresh Paw Paw. Definitely mouthfuls. Unfortunately they just weren't as impressive as the entree and main but still delightful in their own respect. Service was great. The waiter selected a great red wine for me that left my giddy and happy until my birthday was over. Cheers to my birthday!

EXTREMELY rude and hostile waitress. And to preface, I never write negative reviews…read more My husband and our sleeping infant (in his pram) walked into the almost empty restaurant. The waitress seemed bothered and told us to sit in a small table in a dark corner on the far side of the restaurant. We asked to be seated more comfortably and centrally. Her attitude made it seem like we were greatly inconveniencing her with our tiny travel stroller and fast asleep baby. Deciding to make the best of it we placed our lunch order - which arrived COMPLETELY wrong. Every aspect was incorrect (including my husbands burger which was served WITHOUT THE BURGER PATTY and my cole slaw having ZERO dressing (literally dry cabbage)). I politely asked for dressing for the Cole slaw. She snapped and said "this isn't America, we do things differently here" and angrily walked away. A. I am an Australian citizen. We are here visiting family and visit often. We don't think that expecting basic decency at a restaurant is an exclusively American value. B. From the moment we entered the restaurant she seemed angry and the entire experience was tense and awkward. Aside from the hostile service, the portions were tiny and overpriced. Two sandwiches and two beers cost us $100. We would give zero stars if we could.
