They were early in taking restrictive measure--even before CMS required them. They have been transparent and communicated with families frequently. It was inevitable, given their location in Northern Virginia, that there would be COVID cases--especially since many staff work at least 2 jobs including at other facilities. Tall Oaks gave direct care staff a raise and asked them to limit their work to this single facility. Tall Oaks seems to have managed the COVID cases well, working closely with the Fairfax County Health Dept. Yes--there have been some deaths (inevitable in this population), but cases have been limited to fewer than 10% of their population. My 99-year-old parents have been safe, with no cases among residents or staff reported on their floor. My parents have lived at Tall Oaks for over 7 years. There have been many staff changes and although I've never been concerned for their safety, management and care has been variable, with current staff returning quality to the level it was when they moved in. Yes--I've had some complaints and frustrations over the years, mostly related to staff not taking responsibility for issues or not following through on commitments, but these kinds of issues have mostly disappeared in recent years as staff has changed. If I had to find a residence for my parents again, I would definitely choose Tall Oaks Assisted Living.

It's terrible here. Check if there is plenty of parking. Almost none here. Ask other resident's family how accurate the medication distributors are and how they keep up with changes in dr.'s orders. Ask if they do background checks on their staff. Be sure to ask your loved one about the care they are getting. Be specific. Our loved one told us the aide just left (them) in the shower to do everything for themselves, which they can't! - and we are paying for more attentive care! so be sure to ask details from your loved one. I understand all senior living places have their issues and that's so sad for family who want and pay for better care. But if you have notified the staff of your concerns in a courteous and professional manner, as we have, you should see at least SOME change instead of angry stares for speaking up and still no change at all, as we have. I pray God's help to you who are in the looking process.

Three days after my mother's passing, while her family still had full legal possession of her apartment, someone entered using a master key without our permission. My mother's belongings had been moved and sorted through. A set of keys with an employee's nametag was left behind in the apartment, which I photographed. We also noticed that specific jewelry items were missing. When I brought this evidence to Brightview leadership, their response was dismissive and unprofessional. Instead of internally investigating the unauthorized entry or the left-behind keys, they questioned my account because I did not have "before" photos of the apartment and the jewelry. This heartless handling of a secure space during our time of grief was deeply traumatic for my family. Based on my experience, management did not take this security breach seriously, and I advise families to be extremely cautious regarding the security of their loved ones' units.

Tysons Woods was at the top of the list. We called and scheduled a tour of your location on Central Avenue. Upon entering the location, all of your employees we encountered were very friendly and knowledgeable of the potential needs my wife may require after a brief history was shared. One tip we were given by our consultant was to be aware of any smells when we visited the home. Smells of uncleanliness or cleaning products used to cover bad smells were a warning sign. To our pleasant surprise, we did not find any objectionable smells, no smells of cleaning products, just the smell of fresh cooking food on the stove preparing for lunch. The home looked impeccably clean and neat. When meeting some of the other residents, they looked just as neat. They were clean, dressed in clean clothes, and enjoying their day in the living room. They were cooking lunch and the place smelled wonderful. No boxes or frozen meals here, just good home cooking. We decided to place her in your care and we are very happy with our decision. She was very well cared for. She was always dressed in clean clothes, her undergarments were clean and dry. She really enjoyed the food at your place. We never questioned her safety while at your facility. We rested well knowing that you all were taking care of her. We love this facility. It is an assisted living in a "home" setting with a total of 8 residence. It was a very clean family atmosphere. He had mistakenly given them his address and they constantly send junk mail about every two weeks and this has been going on for a number of years. Have called them repeatedly and asked them to remove his name from their mailing list and they lie and say they will but they never do. This has become very frustrating. Attached is a photo of the two latest pieces of junk mail I received within days of each other. If you plan to visit this place don't give them your address.

The aides were caught more than once sleeping on the hob during the day shift, they were late on many days and the aides kept nagging us to hire them outside of the service. The final straw came when an aide failed to arrive for her all day shift this past Wednesday. Then, the same evening, the aide arrived more than an hour later. We were paying them about $10,000 a month for aide services. Imagine the "care" one would get from them if we were a smaller client.
