I'll be honest, "authentic Greek street food in Utah" had me intrigued. I wanted this to be great…read more Growing up in Maryland, I had Greek friends in high school, so I know the kind of food Greek families can absolutely throw down. Because of that, maybe my expectations were a little high, but this just did not get there. I ordered the souvlaki, and it was the biggest disappointment of the meal. The portion felt light, maybe six pieces of meat, and while the meat itself and the pita were perfectly decent, the sauce was strange and not in a good way. It tasted nothing like what I have had at Greek restaurants, church festivals, or anywhere else Greek food is done right. It threw the whole thing off. The Greek salad was also underwhelming. It was basically cucumbers, small tomatoes, red onion, feta, and house dressing. Simple can be great, but the dressing felt flat and did not bring much flavor to the plate. The surprise star was the fries. Genuinely very good. Crisp, flavorful, and probably the most satisfying thing we ate. The gyro was the best actual entrée item. The meat had good flavor, and I enjoyed it, but even that landed in the "solid, not special" category. Service was another mixed bag. Our wraps came out first, then the salad a couple of minutes later, then the fries another couple of minutes after that. Not a dealbreaker, but it made the meal feel oddly pieced together instead of like a restaurant had the timing figured out. We came in around 2 p.m. on a Sunday, after the lunch rush. There were only two other customers when we sat down, so it was noticeable. By the time we left, the place had filled in some, but it still never felt overwhelmed. One other thing worth mentioning: they were promoting a "leave a review, get a treat" deal, which always makes me a little skeptical when I see a pile of glowing reviews. That does not mean every positive review is fake, but it definitely makes me wonder how candid some of them really are. Overall, this was not terrible, but it was definitely disappointing. When you put "authentic Greek" on the table, I am expecting something with a little soul, a little punch, and a little confidence. What we got was mostly just okay. If you go, get the gyro and the fries, and keep your expectations somewhere south of the Aegean

Solid Seed Oil-Free Spot in St. George…read more Cute spot off Mall Drive with a huge, somewhat convoluted menu full of plates, bowls, salads, and sandwiches. We went for lunch and it hit the spot for clean eating. I originally tried ordering the Donny Bowl but the cashier said it was unavailable, so I switched to the Power Pasture Bowl (tri tip and eggs). My buddy got the Mediterranean plate. We both selected the cheese bread. No drinks -- they have a water dispenser in the dining room. The dining room was about 25% full. Service is order-at-counter, then they bring the food and bus tables, but a few corner tables were still sitting with dirty plates from the lunch rush. The Power Pasture Bowl came out with beautiful presentation, but I found myself wondering, "What the hell do I do with this?" So I dumped the side dressing over everything and mixed it up -- turned into a delicious medley of flavors and textures. Only issue: it was missing the eggs. I went back to the counter and they quickly brought out a hard-boiled egg sliced in half. (See before/after photos.) Once assembled, it was really good. It's built like a healthier Chipotle (which, btw, loads up on seed oils), but don't expect a hot chef-crafted dish -- more fresh, layered ingredients with turmeric rice, etc. The cheese bread was a highlight -- chewy (tastes like rice flour for the gluten-free vibe) but way better than the dry-looking pita our neighbor had. Highly recommend the cheese bread. My friend loved his Mediterranean plate -- the baked falafel was delicious, everything fresh, generous portions, and nice presentation. Total for two: $35.45 (no drinks). Totally worth it if you're avoiding seed oils and inflammation. Fresh Mediterranean-leaning fare with a Whole Foods vibe. Great for bowls and plates. If you're craving something hotter, I've heard good things about Outback Steakhouse, Street Eats, and Buffalo Wild Wings -- they use beef tallow. Aubergine Kitchen has a sign saying to let them know about allergies, but missing the eggs on my bowl makes me wonder how on top of that they are. Still, overall a win for clean eating. Would recommend and go back. See attached photos (before/after bowl, cheese bread, etc.)

I've heard of this smoothie chain before but had never been prior to having them here. Unfortunately, we don't have any Tropical Smoothie Cafes in my hood (Bay Area California). After hiking the Figure 8 combo in Bryce Canyon, I was craving for something nice and cold to cool me off. Saw that this place was super close to my Airbnb and decided to try one of their smoothies. They have a drive thru here, but I figured that I'd go inside to check it out first since it was my first time there. The first thing I noticed was how clean the interior space was. It was sparkling clean! Always a good sign. The staff was super friendly and cheery. After perusing the menu, I decided on the Avocolada smoothie. I'm a sucker for anything with avocado in it, so I knew that this would be a hit. It most certainly was! So refreshing and of course... "tropical"! Well hey, what did you expect?! But honestly; this was one of those smoothies that was so good that I finished it within literal minutes. And then, couldn't stop sucking on the damn straw afterward. I had to get every little sip out of that cup! It was so good that I came back the next day after hiking in Zion. This time around, I got the Bahama Mama smoothie. It too was so tasty! It was so thick and creamy. The value is spot on here too. The closest thing to this in my hood would be Jamba Juice. And while I do enjoy them, I would probably trade them in for a Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Will definitely be coming back here again when I come back to Cedar City.
