We were back in town and decided to try again since it was so good last time. I placed a mobile order for pick up (they do not open the mobile ordering until 11) When I arrived it wasn't busy yet and plenty of parking. The lady working was somewhat friendly. I checked my order in the car and couldn't find the 3 extra tzatziki that I paid extra for. I went back to ask and she had an attitude about it. I said I checked everything (we ordered lot) and I couldn't find it. She argued with me a bit about it, I decided to go back and check all the bags again. I tried calling to ask if the food was halal and the girl who picked up gave lots of attitude. She was like we don't know what that is and when I explained it she was like we don't know what that is. I then asked her where the meat was from and she said she didn't know that it was from vanco or something. Busy busy place because the food is delicious. There was a long line to order then they gave us a buzzer to notify us when our food was ready. We loved their Greek salad with beets, feta cheese, peppers, onions, olives, garbanzo beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and vinaigrette. Everything but croutons! The felafel pita was yummy with tahini and yogurt/parsley/tomato sauce. The bread was so fresh. My husband also got a gyro sandwich with lamb and beef. They had a good variety of drinks. Nice little spot in St. George. I got the gyro with fries and my partner had the chicken gyro. Both were good - and my only real complaint would be that the price was $40 for two (a little steep for lunch). That did include a piece of Baklava - which I enjoyed quite a bit! read more

Ordered a spicy chicken gyro combo with a phonecian orange rice pudding and it was incredibly filling. My friend ordered the sampler platter, which was absolutely incredible in terms of volume (you could feed more than one on the sampler alone)! The worst was when it was served to us cold, think of that, eating a cold gyro meat on a pita. I hope it wasn't cause we did not give a tip at the cashier's front desk. I guess it just all depends on who's the front and the cook. We had to complain and the finally gave us the right one (cooked properly). By then we lost our appetite. Quaint little place tucked into a strip mall right by the St George Mall, this place is delightful! Service was very friendly, accommodating, and eager to offer suggestions. We had the spicy chicken rice bowl, seasoned parmesan fries, the large hummus side, and the Phoenician orange zest rice pudding. Everything was flavorful and hugely portioned! We shared everything between 2 people and still took leftovers home. The hummus was a great addition to the rice bowl and enhanced the experience. Picture it. St. George. 2021. You step outside of a nearby business in a strip mall and are lured toward a scent. A scent that you can't quite describe, other than food. It smells so good, it reminds you that you are hungry. You realize it's coming from the pita place, and you know that fate has determined where you'll be eating lunch. This is what happened to me and my wife last weekend while visiting the old stomping grounds. We enjoyed a meal out on the patio, in the sunshine-in January! I cannot come to St George without going to Mad Pita for the combo sampler (easily serves 2). The combination of flavors always treats me right - leave off the tabbouleh though. It's overwhelms the dish. A side of fries with their spicy aioli is a brilliant addition if you have the space. We were excited to try Mad Pita Express on a recent visit to St George but were disappointed...The chicken was so dry and hard in our pita wraps. It tasted like it had been out for a couple hours. I could actually see all the chicken sitting on the flat top stove in the back in a huge pile of dry chicken. Not only was the chicken some of the worst I've ever had, the service was terrible. Greeted by cheerful yellow walls, you order at the counter and then hang out in a wicker chair, surrounded by old photos and knickknacks. Delicious fresh and filling Greek food with an American fusion! My fiancée got the spicy chicken pita sandwich and it was topped with fresh herbs and greens and drizzled with a delicious sauce. He said the chicken was seasoned perfectly and had a nice kick to it. The Philly cheese pita sandwich was a fun take on the traditional Philly cheese steak sandwich. The gyro meat was an excellent substitute for the beef traditionally on a Philly. The bell peppers were cooked until tender and were well seasoned. I would have liked fresh herbs and greens on mine instead of all the melted cheese and sauce but I love veggies and most people probably prefer the cheese and sauce lol The cashier was knowledgeable and friendly and our food was made to order and came out hot. Let's get right too it. I grew up being very close friends that were Greek. We ate together a few times a week. Never have I seen so much parsley being used since I attended a Seder. My girlfriend has the chicken skewer dinner. The chicken was fine. The rice fair. Salad was good, but the fresh made hummus tasted strong of parsley. The best fries around? No. These were not good and guess what, the seasoning.... Parsley. Simply put, the taste of the food did not warrant the cost of it. This is a no return for us. So, went here based on the recommendations. First, not the same Greek food I grew up with near Athens. That expectation set aside, the lunch was very good and special for what it was. Tzatziki was different -- but tasty. A bit watery for me -- but you may want it that way. The gyro was really good -- but next time I would ditch the lettuce (which was still damp) and add tomato and feta. (Never had lettuce in a souvlaki while living in Greece. Or in the village salads we grew up on.) Also, the portion size was generous. Fries were tasty too. Lots of them too for the price. Good selection of drinks -- and the ice tea was freshly brewed and really good. I might come back just for the tea. Part of the family has a gluten allergy. The restaurant has many gluten-free choices including a pita bread. They weren't a fan but liked the attempt / effort. We got a table for 10 -- which was awesome since we were the whole family. And the place was crowded and two families swooped in to take it and split it when we finished. The atmosphere was eclectic -- greek and ancient world pictures adorn the wall; music was top 40.
