After moving to St. Augustine from Connecticut, I didn't know the area or where to go for my hair. Fortunately, I happened to call the JW salon, and booked an appointment with Katie- and I'm so glad I did! I have been getting blonde highlights since my early twenties. No matter which stylist I visited, my color would begin fading to an orange tint within two weeks. I assumed it was just my hair. Katie took the time to explain what she thought would work best and asked how I felt about her plan. I immediately felt confident that I was in good hands. My color has never looked this good! The blonde looks natural, stays vibrant, and lasts. Katie is extremely knowledgeable and talented, and she truly collaborates with her clients to achieve the best results. She is also personable, welcoming, and professional. I only wish I had met her years ago! I highly recommend Katie to anyone looking for an exceptional stylist. read more

First time customer, visited on 1/2/26 for color and a cut. Emmalee was very personable and did a great job on both cut and color. She recommended some color formulation changes to reduce the warm pulling through. It turned out perfectly! read more

I have been trying to find a salon. Made an appt w/ Katy Wash never got the scalp just a fast swishing around of the hair. The style was an embarrassment so I just got out of there as fast as possible and went home to do my hair. $75.00 down the drain . read more

I went to JW Salon today and Emmalee was incredible. The salon itself is so laid back and comfortable, and she made the whole appointment feel easy and enjoyable. She refreshed my 6‑month‑old blonde and turned it into the bold, icy, dimensional color I've been wanting. The depth and tone are perfect. She truly did an amazing job! THANK YOU SO MUCH! read more

Christy was unbelievable! Outstanding results on my color! She is very seasoned and she has owner experience as well as international experience! Great vibe! Beautiful shop! read more

Blondes beware! I've taken some time before writing this hoping I would be less upset but have only felt more compelled to write this review-in hopes someone else would not make the same mistake. For context, I have been getting a bleach and tone for almost 20 years, and this has never once happened to me. After seeing Wade for a number of years, I called and found out he had moved on. I was then booked with Emma. I came in for my appointment and found out she was only about a year out from cosmetology school which should have been my first red flag. She proceeded to lay on the bleach but after only about 20 minutes - she determined it was time to rinse (my second red flag). Of course, my roots were orange upon rinse, and no amount of toner was going to fix it. She then suggested putting on a second layer of bleach for a brief time. I reluctantly agreed. At this point she mentioned that she did not have much experience with bleach and tones. My hair was rinsed and I was charged the same if not more than I would have for a very experienced Wade. Upon questioning she said she didn't even charge me for the extra bleach. Over the course of the past few months, more than 50% of my hair has broken off at the double bleached section. I am devastated. Although it will grow back in time, I will never understand why I would have been put with an inexperienced stylist-at a salon I have been going to for years-for a style that definitely requires experience. Do not make the same mistake I did. read more

Coming from NY, i am very picky when it comes to having my hair done. I researcher goldwell products and what salons use this product and found JW salon. I made an appt with Sommer The salon has a farmhouse vibe. Very clean, super friendly staff. I brought my "formula" recipe from my colorist in NY for my hair. Sommer not only gave me an awesome cut, but my color was spot on! She saved my formula mix in my profile and off i left one super happy person. I would 150% recommend Sommer or any if the other stylist there. They make you feel right at home. Highly recommend JW Salon ‍ read more

Theresa did a great job with my hair annd what I wanted. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I will be back!

I was very disappointed! I tried showing wade pictures of what I wanted, he just acted like he knew what I wanted right away and barely looked at the pictures. As he's cutting i'm noticing he's going way too short. At the end, he tried styling me with a.. get this.. a FOHAWK... I'm thinking he cut my hair specifically for a fohawk style. It's way too short and definitely one of the worst haircuts i've ever gotten. Not only that, he was EXTREMELY rough with both the comb and scissors, I had cuts on my neck after. I can't speak for the ladies, but guys, trust me and find somewhere else to go! read more

I had my short curly hair cut yesterday by Liz! She was friendly and wanted to know what I wanted. She took time yo get yo know my hair and me. I have had way to many bad hair cuts in the past. Not now! Liz did a great job! It looked great when I left the shop , but more importantly it was great after my shower and I did my hair myself! I scheduled my next appointment for next month. I found my gal! Won't be changing again! Before my move I had the s as me gal for about 17yrs. Thank you Liz for doing such a great job and a great experience! read more

As a first time client I was extremely impressed by Emma "Astrid" Lee, who styled my hair exactly the way I wanted. Her focus was impeccable. I can't thank her enough. After visiting many salons in the area, I have finally found my home. I wish I could give her ten stars! read more

My first visit to this location was perfect. Great vibes and friendly atmosphere. Wade is fantastic! You can tell he absolutely loves what he does. He listened to what I wanted and made it happen. My hair color was brassy and dull before I went in. Wade worked his magic and made my dull locks vibrant and beautiful! Trust him with your hair, he is wonderful. read more

I have been getting my hair done by Joe (the owner) for a little over a year, and I'm super grateful a friend recommended him. As someone who grew up working in a salon, I know good stylists (and hang onto them for dear life) when I find them. Joe has given me highlights, full dark color, a stacked bob, and now a "lob" as I've decided to let it grow a bit. I get tons of compliments on my hair and I am the first to admit that I barely do anything to it, so all the compliments should go straight to Joe's cut and color skills. Let's talk about the salon, though. I am not into the whole ~supercuts~ vibe when salons feel sterile and lifeless, so this place is exactly what I look for. The decor is awesome: modern but rustic, and there's tons of cool antiques interwoven with the contemporary design. Always clean and the big front windows give it a lot of good, natural lighting. Even though I've only had direct experience with Joe, the whole staff is always friendly and welcoming and each time I go someone asks if I'd like something to drink (coffee, water, etc.) while I wait. Long story short: the prices are super reasonable for the high value of service and experience you get when you're here, and you'll enjoy the atmosphere. I definitely recommend calling ahead for an appointment, as they are a popular salon (for good reason). read more

Thina did a very nice job but I was not impressed by the fact that they do not sanitize the drill bit that is used and do not use individual files but rather use same files on everyone! Maybe I'm too picky because I'm from NY but I was not happy about this and will not return. read more

Jw Salon is a wonderful establishment. They have the friendliest staff and the most welcoming vibe. I look forward to coming here every other week. I get my nails done by the Amazing Thina and Opal every two weeks. I've been a customer for quite some time now and want to let everyone know- this place is legit! This is a one stop shop. Hair, color, nails, even eyelashes. And way more. They are a family-type group so once you make friends with them- you are in! Love this place so much and have to say they are very reasonable priced and super clean. CLEANEST NAIL TECHS IN TOWN! try them out and I swear you will say the same thing. Your welcome! :) read more

Finding a new salon is always so stressful when you are in a new area. I ended up getting a recommendation for this salon. I called to make an appointment and because of the holiday season I couldn't get in for a week and a half. When I arrived everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The salon was very busy. I was asked if I wanted anything to drink. My stylist came out and introduced herself. She asked what I wanted done to my hair. I gave her the details on the type of cut I wanted. She took me to the back to wash my hair. I really don't like those sinks that you have to lay back in. So old fashioned. My neck always hurts the next day. The shampoo was quite nice. The shampoo and conditioner smelled fantastic. I really enjoyed the head massage. The chair that I was told to sit in was all ripped and tattered. The salon needed a good cleaning dust and hair everywhere. The stylist I had was friendly and talkative. She gave me a great hair cut and style. I definitely would get my hair cut here again. read more

When I moved here from LA, I was used to going to super expensive curl specialist (literally known as The Curl Dr.). So, I was terrified to go anywhere in STA. I got a few bad haircuts from other places until someone pointed me to Maria. She gave me an actual style and not just shorter hair. She does an AWESOME job with curly hair. I actually like my hair more than I did when I went to my guy in LA! read more

Maria is a blessing to find. Her skill as a Quidad curly hair stylist- will keep me as a regular customer and caused me to take the time to refer others!!!you will be like "where has she been all my life". I've known Maria for 13 years. When she moved to JW Salon, of course I followed her- she's fantastic! She's been my hairdresser when I was picky with my cuts and colors. As well as being there for me when I was loosing my hair due to chemotherapy...shaving off locks of my hair with love and compassion in 2012. Recently, I was in need of a cut and color on short notice. She made the time for me, to cut, color and style my hair for a speaking engagement in October on breast cancer. I highly recommend Maria and JW Salon. The Salon felt very comfortable and relaxing. Maria is an amazing hairdresser. I bring ideas of what I'm looking for...but now give more free reign to decide what will look best. As in the past, I never leave disappointed. She's amazing with her given talent. Very personable, kind and attentive. I highly recommend this Salon. read more

This review is for mani-pedi services at this salon. Thina George has recently started doing nails at this salon. She had been at Royal Nails, and when it closed (fire damage) I lost track of her. Thank goodness she found me on Facebook and reached out! Thina is truly one of the best manicurists I've had in my 20+ years of getting my nails done! She is professional, gentle, creative, and smart, and I completely recommend her and her colleague, Lan (whom I have also used), to anyone looking for a fantastic mani/pedi! I have not used the hair services at this salon, but it's a really attractive space and the hair specialists seem very professional. read more

Always a great experience. I come back every two weeks for a reason. Joe always does a consistently great haircut .

I should start by saying that I've been going to the same hairdresser for 13 years - a badass, top of the line hairdresser that I would recommend to everyone and anyone. However, she's in Los Angeles. I moved here to St. Augustine a year ago and only got my hair cut and colored when I went back to LA, but the heat and humidity here has done a number on my hair. I haven't been back to LA since March so I was desperate. I originally found JW Salon for my boyfriend's hair and liked the atmosphere enough to roll the dice on my own. I spoke to Joe (the owner) and explained my anxiety over a new hairdresser and he recommended Alex for my 'do. Fast forward a few days and I couldn't be happier! She was so pleasant and polite, confident in her skills, accommodating to the fact that I brought my boyfriend's mother with me and she cut and colored her hair simultaneously. Pretty impressive to watch her maintain her composure as the only stylist in the salon that day with people coming in and out, the phones ringing, and she's cutting and coloring 2 new clients hair at the same time. I got a trim and the start of what will be a mix of balayage/ombre. I'll definitely go back for all my hair needs from this point forward! read more

PSA: do not go here (unless u like to look like a middle-aged mom from the 90's, if that's the look you're going for, then this is your place) I asked for bangs right above my eyelashes (even had a picture that I showed her multiple times) ... I received bangs above my eyebrows. I think her name was Terry. The bangs were choppy and uneven, it's as if she had no idea how to cut hair. I was charged $45.
