The staff is extremely attentive and work very hard to keep the day flowing seamlessly. Kirby, one of the staff members, is simply superb. He remembers me from previous events and even had my drink order memorized. He is personable and truly works to keep the clientele happy. He served us all with a smile despite the fact that he had his college calculus final the next day. You honestly would not know if he was under any stress or pressure. Kirby is an absolute gem giving a great customer service experience.

HVCC is a fantastic country club, particularly if you are a golfer. The course is a tough par-70,…read morebut not penal. The course was designed by Donald Ross and was built in 1926. It is a beautiful walking course and when I'm playing by myself, I can typically play 9 holes in about 1:40. The golf course is really the difference-maker for Hope Valley, as it stands up very well to any course in NC. There was a PGA tour event here in the 1940s, so you know that the layout is strong. Hope Valley is a private club with an initiation fee. There are three levels of membership - SOCIAL (which allows you to use the pool, the restaurants and play golf 6 times a year - for a fee); TENNIS (which is social plus free access to the 7 clay and 2 hard tennis courts; GOLF (all the golf, tennis, pool, etc that you want) - and if you walk, there is no incremental charge for golf. I would say that the average monthly charge for family golf is $500, so you really have to like to play golf. If you play tennis, there are a lot of leagues and weekly events - like men's night, where the pro splits everybody up into even matches. After 2 hours of play, folks hang out and drink beer in the moonlight. It makes for a fun evening.

Our experience with NRCC from start to finish has been exceptional and we would be thrilled to host another event there should we have the opportunity. Cam, the events coordinator at NR was excellent to work with. We meet 4 times prior to the wedding and she was always extremely well organized and professional. She kept the many details straight, provided excellent suggestions and had a fun and pleasant manner. On the actual wedding day, Cam was helpful, calm and gave us the sense that she was completely committed to making sure everything was perfect. We enjoyed having her be a part of the day and despite her completely professional manner, consider her a friend. The rest of the staff also exceeded our expectations. From the sweet women who serve as receptionists in the lobby, to all of the wait staff - we did not encounter one person who was not doing their job with excellence. The ballroom itself is a gorgeous room with soaring ceilings and spectacular chandeliers. When we added the custom linens, that are part of the wedding package, flowers and candlelight, we had truly breathtaking setting that will live long in our memories. Our guests raved about the food as well. The appetizers were served by waiters and were so plentiful some guests told me that they had to finally say no to save room for dinner! The meal was served very efficiently and elegantly. The food was hot, presented well and comparable in quality to a fine restaurant. We recommend North Ridge with great enthusiasm as a wedding venue. The only regret I have is how quickly the night passed by. Thank you to Cam and all the other staff for helping make our daughters wedding one of the most memorable nights of our lives.

This was by far the worst venue for a large event I have ever been to. The "ballroom" was a tiny…read moreroom with an even smaller dance floor. We sat at an unsteady FOLDING TABLE where every time you barely bumped it all the drinks would nearly spill. We paid an astronomical amount per person for this event. The worst part of the entire evening was the food. By far the most disgusting meal I have ever had. The mashed potatoes were straight out of the box. Instant mashed potatoes at a country club? Really? The chicken was like drywall, so dry and grainy you had to drink glasses of water, plural mind you, to try and get it down. The steak was pure fat and covered in a tasteless brown gravy. The frozen vegetable medley was okay, but then again how can you really mess up frozen vegetables? I'm sure it wasn't for lack of trying with this kitchen though. If you wanted to have a drink to at least TRY and make a night out of this event and you do not make six figures a year, prepare to take out a second mortgage on your home. That's right at the insanely high dollar amount spent to rent out this venue no drinks were included. In one word: AWFUL. Get your money's worth and go to ANY other venue in North Carolina.

The course is also short enough I recommend walking it if you can. Now, as a resident I am not a member. This is because the amenities are not good enough to put down a coupe grand a year. My highest recommendation is to add a gym to the club. I would buy a membership the day it opened.
