I can't believe how lucky I am to have two AMAZING chiropractors BOTH at my location nearest to me. I honestly can't tell you who is better, Dr. Loos or Dr. Oku. I would be happy to have either as my chiropractor for life! I've been seeing chiropractors for almost 50 years, and these two are precise, effective, efficient... and my body can sometimes be hard to adjust. Both doctors listen to the special requests I have, and work with the new challenges that come up for me. Their schedule is staggered, so I think one of them is *always* there... THIS is why I'm a patient at The Joint, and why I come to THIS location... so that any day of the week that I need a chiropractor, I can relax and trust that I'll have amazing care from one of them. I'm *shocked* how many patients they see a day, and yet, the wait is never long. At the front desk, Antoinette and Marisol are cheerful and efficient. Note: Park away from the front door. The parking lot is a nightmare of near-misses every time (in the long, narrow section in front of all the stores), so I just park in the less busy section closer to Dave's Hot Chicken, and I feel more relaxed. P.S. I gotta say, I *hope* The Joint pays these two doctors extra when they are so busy, cuz they are so good that I have followed them here from other locations... if they don't get paid for the extra wear and tear that *must* happen on their bodies with SO many patients, The Joint will wind up burning out, and losing, their best docs. P.P.S. But seriously, totally worth it to come have either one of these two work on you... for as long as they are here. read more

I am concerned about the significant decline in staffing at this franchise location over the past year. Previously, there were typically two or three doctors available to provide comprehensive patient assessments. Recently, however, I have often arrived to find no receptionist, only one doctor working, and a lobby full of patients waiting to be seen. On one occasion, the scheduled doctor was also required to manage front-desk and billing responsibilities while patients waited for one-on-one care. This leaves little to no capacity for the physician to accept new patients or focus fully on the routine care and maintenance of existing patients. I am also concerned about the safety implications of having only one person working in the building. If the doctor experienced a medical emergency or there were a security incident, such as a robbery, there would be no additional staff available to respond or seek assistance. It appears that the new ownership may not be adequately addressing the workload placed on physicians or the experience and safety of patients. I respectfully urge The Joint to visit and evaluate this franchise location. It would be disappointing to see such a strong company reputation affected by insufficient staffing and a lack of appropriate operational oversight. read more

Dr. Oku and Dr. Loos are excellent chiropractors, the best in the field. You will get Superior care if you have a chance to have one of these doctors adjust you. I only have good things to say about the doctors. The corporation is a different thing. I have been paying member since 2012 when it first opened. It was booming ... three doctors in the back, a competent receptionist, busy waiting room. Now... They haven't had a receptionist in two weeks. There's only one doctor as they have fired most of the other doctors, or cause them to quit because the franchise has cut their working hours so it's not worth coming in or the working salary, and benefits and conditions are so bleak. All of the receptionist have quit in the last four years. They don't pay enough. They don't give benefits. They took away their vacation hours. Hawkins corporation used to own this location. It was then sold to a franchise which owns 44 other locations. I think they bit off more than they can chew. It is my understanding they put all the chiropractors, no matter how long they have been there back to Ground Zero. No vacation, no private time, no Health Insurance until just recently, and no raises. The doctors complain that they are not in the loop about what is happening. Doctors get transferred to different locations far away from their home, there is general unhappiness everywhere. it won't be long before the best Chiropractor's at this office will quit and move on as well because they can't work in a location that makes everybody so unhappy. So this is my message to the franchise that owns this and the 44 other places; get your act together. You have a good concept, you have great prices, but your personnel management needs so much help. I don't know who is in charge because I cannot find a website, or an email or a telephone number to register my complaint. In desperate frustration I am writing this Yelp review. You are losing customers because without a receptionist they can't take new clients. The doctors are not receptionist and don't ask them to be... they are busy in the back adjusting clients.. higher enough receptionist to cover every day of the week in the front receptionist area and pay them a decent wage. Everybody knows that you're underpaying your employees. The Joint, upgrade your business practices and get back to where you were 10 years ago. After 14 years, I'm ready to quit. read more

The doctors are excellent, and I can't say enough good things about them. Unfortunately, the practice recently came under new ownership, and one of the first changes was reducing staffing from two doctors on duty to only one at a time. My only assumption is that this was done as a cost-saving measure, but it has negatively impacted both the doctors and the patients. Having a single doctor responsible for all patient care places an unreasonable workload on them. Doctors need adequate time not only to see patients, but also to properly document visits and maintain accurate medical records. The result has been noticeably longer wait times for patients. What used to be a quick and efficient visit is no longer the case. The quality of the doctors remains outstanding, but the operational changes under the new ownership have significantly reduced the overall patient experience. The best thing about The Joint Chiropractic is their hours. They're open every day and you can do walk-in appointments. They have a variety of doctors on staff. If you get the app, you can see which doctors are working each day in case you want to stick with one or two. I think most of the doctors there do a pretty good job, some better than others. But it's easy to doctor shop for the one that you think is best for you. The prices are also really good compared to a regular chiropractic office that has just one doctor. On the downside, if you desire privacy during your adjustment, this is probably not the place to go. All patients are seen in one big room that has three tables to it. Chances are you will be there when other patients are there. They can definitely overhear what you're saying during your appointment and they could see your adjustment happening. But the process goes very quickly and lasts about 10 minutes. Another plus is that this is a chain and if you have purchased a set of adjustments, you could go to any of the The Joint Chiropractic offices. They will have your information. read more

Read the whole review.... But note I'm starting out with a backstory. Lol Skip down for the current situation. Ha! Where to start? I've been coming to this location since 2016. It's had its fair amount of troubles over the years... from no Chiropractors, to opening late, or worse, no one showing up at all. Up until about April 2022, the front staff was quite off-putting. Inappropriate music upfront (some of it I actually do listen to, but there's a time and place), and just a feeling of being a burden to the staff behind the desk--which is *not* how anyone should feel at a place of service. CURRENT SITUATION: As of July 2022, I've gone in twice this week after being on a hold for 3mos. The vibe seems to be more--professional, in the waiting room. Appropriate music, the staff is down to one person, and they're far more personable. (I can only assume that corrections have been made, as such changes rarely happen on their own.) Since Sept 2021, I've seen Dr. Mario Mojica. His method (on me) is more of a manual adjustment with his body weight. He incorporates the Gonstead Technique (I think that's what it's called) for my lower back, and love it! While table and handheld activators are used in this office, but Dr. Mojica rarely uses them on me--which is just fine by me as I'm not a fan. I've learned the sweet spot of when to go in to avoid a long wait, but I'm not sharing that time frame with Yelp! Lol ha ha ha no. Some things just need protected! PARKING HERE IS A NIGHTMARE. AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. I back in when it's possible, because backing out when people are FLYING down the "runway" is just terrifying. Okay, I'm over exaggerating--but you get the point. DO NOT GO HERE - PATIENTS BE AWARE This is what happened to me as a first time walk in patient today 8/11/24. I went in today at opening and tried to use their walk in services - I was met by someone 10 minutes later whom was incredibly rude and dismissive who informed us that since they did not have a front desk manager they would have to call into another location to try to process me as a first time patient. They seemed to be bothered by the extra work of getting me processed but I was in so much pain I looked past it. This was fine - however the Doctor came out after we were just about to fill in the paperwork and said "We aren't accepting new patients today" in a very short and rude tone. why? No explanation as he slammed a sign on the front desk area. I said "Ok thank you & have a nice day" as I walked out. I am in immense pain - I was pondering using this clinic as a closer spot to home however what happened next blew my mind. As I left, my husband was still at the front desk. I cannot even believe this but they said "I'm less incentivized to help her since she's treating this like an urgent care clinic" and that I had an "attitude" (I'm in immense pain just seeking relief.). I was NOT rude I simply left as they told me they had nothing to offer me. They then said they would think about helping me if I signed up for a monthly membership. As for your management team: Feel free to pull the camera footage to see for yourself how your employees treat patients. read more

Imagine for a moment, your wife is in deep pain in her back. It's a Sunday, so your options are limited. Luckily, there's a chiropractic spot open near you. They also advertise a new patient special for only $29, even better! So you go to take her to this spot and walk in to nobody present. Looks like the receptionist called out, no big deal we can wait until the doctor is done with whomever they are helping. After a few minutes, a doctor walks out. We try explaining we are new patients, but the doctor says they are out a receptionist and can't process new patients. Your wife walks out, but you try pleading with the doctor if we can just sign some paperwork and get her treated for her pain. A second doctor walks out at this point, proudly exclaims that "no new patients today" and flips open a sign we couldn't previously see that says "NO NEW PATIENTS TODAY." Still, you love your wife and want to get her treated, so you simply ask "I understand you're out a receptionist, but is there nothing we can do to get her treated? I don't even care to pay the $29 special, consider it a normal visit." Now, for a moment, just imagine the sheer hubris it would require for the doctor to tell you the following: "We don't want you treating this like an Urgent Care, if she wants to get treated today we would have to get her on a treatment plan. She did come in with an attitude..." At that moment, you just walk away in disbelief. I plead with you, do not bother with such a rude, unorganized, disrespectful, money-hungry place. You are worth more than that $29 new patient special. read more

Dr. Oku and Dr. Gayle are both very thorough with their adjustments. They take the time to explain and educate you on the how and why you may be experiencing discomfort. They are solution oriented and speak to you about what should be done to improve your situation outside of chiropractic. The joint gets a bad reputation sometimes for being a quick in and out experience. Some people leave feeling like they were given a one size fits all adjustment. ( I was a wellness coordinator for the company years ago) that's not the case here. Your treatment is personalized. read more

Please do not go here! I got a back injury through an adjustment done by Dana. I have gotten chiropractor adjustments for years getting routine adjustments because of my job as a dental hygienist and I usually leave with relief. I saw Dana for the first time and I left with pain/tingling in my lower back that was consisting for 2 weeks leading me to go to the doctors. Ive have gotten X-rays, MRIs and physical therapy for the pain that I am in. read more

EDIT: In reply to the owner's response, I did reach out to your team and was not offered any of these options in the email correspondence. I asked to have my concerns addressed by an owner or manager and was ignored each time I requested that. Also, I know for a fact that you have the ability to extend a session or two to the next month because someone in your office did it for me one other time which is the reason I wrote and asked nicely to begin with. The short and cold response to my question was not at all helpful. I don't even really care what your policies are. Sometimes policies are WRONG. I don't think it is at all the right way to deal with a good customer who has had Covid. I had no idea it was going to cause me to lose several weeks of my month. I didn't plan ahead to pause my membership! Give me a break. I have had a almost two week battle with one member of the family or another having Covid and I am now sick with Covid while caring for my 5 year old who has Covid. I kindly wrote them an email asking if there was any way to make it so I could use any of my services after I am recovered and was basically sent their contract information with a generic condolences for being ill. I haven't just dealt with Covid. I have dealt with my father ending up hospitalized after a fall while sick with Covid among a few other dozen complications so a little kindness today would have gone a MILE. I have been a member for quite a while now so I just expected keeping a member would be more important than a couple of treatments. I asked for my complaints to be sent to a manager or owner and was met with no response after two requests. Every time I go in there these days, it has been completely empty. Judging from comments, I am not the only one who is having issues with their revolving door of customer service. I've been going to chiropractors for over 20 years and Dr. Blanchard did exactly what was needed to take me from intense hip pain to pain free in one visit. He took all the time needed to evaluate my condition and performed physical tests to analyze his conclusions and understandings. This was the first time I've had hip pains; usually back and neck. The procedures he used were mostly new to me, and they got the job done immediately. Prior to walking in today, it hurt to stand or walk... at all! I have been experiencing severe low back pain and came to the Joint for help around 6:05pm tonight. I filled out paperwork in the lobby and waited almost 40 mins to be seen (which I understand as I was a walk in). They took me to the back around 6:40pm and I told the doctor I had to pick my son up from karate a few doors down at 6:45pm. I asked if that was ok and the doctor said it was. I got my son and came back and the doors were locked. I knocked on the door as it was just after 6:50pm and their posted hours show they are open until 7:00pm and the doctor knew I was coming right back. The front desk person came to the door from the back, unlocked it, and leaned out and said the doctor feels like he won't have enough time for an exam so we can't see you tonight. Again I know I came late, but why tell me it was ok to leave and come right back? I felt lied to and disrespected. In my opinion, The Joint is a great place for acute aches and pains and the occasional adjustment for otherwise healthy folks. Your first session they take the time to hear your concerns and reason for visiting but after that, I didn't feel super listened to - just a transactional "sit down, I'm going to adjust you, ok bye". I think if you are dealing with chronic pain or something that requires ongoing treatment and a plan, I would recommend an alternate. Someone who you feel has time and energy to invest in your case and treatment plan. However, if you are looking for occasional affordable adjustments or are on a budget and have a random issue, The Joint is great. After two adjustments for a rare for me but problematic neck pain I had been having, I feel almost good as new. Note they only take walk ins so bring a book or a charged phone when you go for a visit. The wait is never super long (~20 mins max in my experience) but worth mentioning. Lastly, I think pre-pay would make more sense rather than stopping by the receptionist post-treatment. You're sitting in the waiting room anyways before hand - might as well get it out of the way so you can leave as soon as you're adjusted. read more

I came here two years ago. I wasn't happy with the work the guy was doing, but he did give me a good suggestion for my lower bag. It worked for some time only tho, and now I'm back and happy to see that they have someone that really cares and knows what she's doing. It makes huge deference when your Dr shows that he or she is not there only to get paid, but to do their job. Dr. Dana is literally the heart of this location. Her technique, skill and intuition are the epitome of a great Chiropractor. My biggest beef with "The Joint" as a chain is that you really never know who you are going to be assigned to. There is a certain level of trust that comes with any healing practice, but especially in chiropractic care. The consistency of Dr. Dana at this location is what keeps me a plan member. As someone who's been receiving chiropractic care for over 30 years, you can tell the good from the not so much. Not once was I informed that I was signing up for a 2 month agreement that would than be turned into monthly recurring charges, I than called when I realized and the General manger tried to place blame on me for not noticing this in a more timely matter! He than also refused a refund as it was "my fault" for signing up for this even after I explained that his front desk lady told me it was only for a month with 4 adjustments for only $89. Even your "customer service" here on yelp does nothing to help other than tried to explain where you went wrong in not understanding what you were signed up for! I'm really kind of disappointed. I work late and got off to get here at 630. Since my normal chiropractor is closed for the day I thought I'd give it a shot. But because I'm a new patient I wouldn't be seen. I've called before and was told I can just walk in. I walk in and I'm told they don't see new patients after 6. I suffer from migraines and vertigo and chiropractic care is one of the only few things that helps. So now I'm fully expecting to not be able to get up tomorrow. It's frustrating to be turned away when you're actually in need. It's not my first time at a chiropractor; an adjustment does to take all that long. Selling you on a plan is what takes the time. I wonder if that's why hey didn't have enough time. I even asked the attendant if she's ask if someone would be willing to see me and that was denied. O well, hopefully my head will be better tomorrow. If I'll struck to the family chriopractor I know. Go somewhere you know they care. Approximately 3 years ago I fell off the roof of my house in the middle of a rainstorm Since then I have suffered from lower back pain I moved into the Oceanside area 2 months ago and have been fairly pain free until this morning when I woke up to a severe back spasm I googled chiropractors in my area and the joint popped up I called the phone number on the site and the answering machine said no appointments are necessary to go on into the clinic I was skeptical but I drove down to the clinic I was very very impressed to find a very clean, comfortable office There was absolutely no wait time Dr Dana came right out and took me into the back where she not only listened carefully to my explanation of the issues with my back but she jumped right in and adjusted me to help alleviate the pain Doctor Dana rocks!! I have been in the worst pain, like thinking I'm going to turn and be paralyzed, I'm dying, I'm dead type of pain! I decided to take advantage of the $29 initial visit. I was going to wait for Saturday, but I couldn't wait any longer. There was a bit of a wait but for a purely walk in service, that was expected. Dr. Dara was AMAZING! She listened to me and immediately told me that I didn't have what I thought I had, and that my pelvis and SI joints are likely stuck. She then gave me an adjustment and told me tips to help with the pain and when she wanted to see me back. She is great at what she does and truly cares about her patients.
