Extremely unprofessional and careless staff at the Escondido location. I called yesterday to make an appointment, and they confirmed a time for me to come in. Just minutes before I arrived, I received a call saying, Sorry, I forgot it's the weekend, so we actually can't help you today. Confused but willing to try again, I asked if I could come the next day and was told they would be open from 10 to 5. This morning, I called to confirm again, and the person answering asked, Are you new or returning? I mentioned it would be my first visit, to which she abruptly replied, I can't help you--come tomorrow and speak to the front desk. Before I could even respond, she hung up on me! This location's service is shockingly poor. They treat potential clients with disrespect, making it clear that they don't value people's time. Apparently, my insurance, if I go through my primary care, can refer me to a chiropractor for treatment. I explained that understand this, and I choose to not go through the insurance as I need help now, and am willing to pay cash to be treated right now. I asked what do I need to answer on the form to be able to do that. To simply pay cash, out of my pocket. She literally refused to tell me, nor did she offer any help or advice in any way whatsoever. However, she wasn't short of lecturing me, while I stood there with tears in my eyes. I am not stupid, I am in pain. I was in so much pain from a tweaked neck. I have chronic back issues and needed to see a chiropractor asap. I went to The Joint and was instructed to get X-rays first. I was not able to do that during that weekend and decided to suffer with my pain until I finally went to the urgent care. Turns out I have a little arthritis in my neck. Never went back to The Joint as I don't feel like they were really there to help. I would suggest maybe finding a way to get X-ray machines and technicians to make that process easier for clients that are in severe pain and can't run around town. read more

I've been to "The joints" all over the US. They've been very helpful when I've been in a jam. Quite frankly however I did not feel that my visit was helpful on this day of visiting( yesterday) I desperately needed and adjustment because of an SI issue. The best that I honestly believe that I can say I received in my SI or low back was a mild stretch And a massage vibration. I asked the Chiropractor if that was an adjustment, his response, "we worked on it. " This is not helpful. The reviews of Dr Smith are 100% accurate, he is AMAZING. Unfortunately he left. Which doctor is there varies but in Escondido, Dr Carlson and Dr, Shiva (spelling could be wrong, its the Monday and Tuesday doctor) are not good. Like others i have also walked in 15 minutes before closing for a 3-5 minute adjustment, no other patients were there and they tried to turn us away. They said corporate forces them to have there door locked and be out by 7:00. If that's the case they should change their hours to close at 6:30. I came in for the first time today and when i first arrived i was told i have 3 new patients ahead of me so it could be about an hour wait. Ok no big deal. A lady comes in about 10-15mins after me and she was told about an hour and a half for a wait. That lady then decided to leave and come back. When she comes back the receptionist then tells her that she is next when i was the person who arrived before her and was in line and waiting longer than her. Bottom line she went first because she was an "existing client" i truly do not believe that is how business should be done. You should not make a new patient feel less of a priority by allowing someone whose already an existing patient go beforehand. It should be whoever arrived first. In addition to this i felt like this visit was a complete waste of time. I went to the back laid down and the dr didn't ask or say much at all. I never been to a chiropractor before so i was expecting more than just being told to lay down while he did his thing. I'm just really surprised with how this whole experience turned out. I have been going to The Joint Chiropractic for years at numerous locations. Today I tried this located and waited in the waiting room for over an hour. When it was my turn for chiropractic adjustment, I was disappointed. It was more like a short Thai massage with stretching and the application of moderate pressure to my back. What a waste of time. If you are used to chiropractic care and you have an expectation to get an adjustment, please do yourself a favor and do not come to this location on a weekend. Let me start by saying that I am a fan of this concept: a membership fee that allows you one adjustment per week as needed, based on your situation. I have pain from having a poor ergonomic setting in the workplace, something that I have limited ability to change at this time. I originally visited a San Diego Joint location and loved the staff in the front and the team of doctors. I never had a poor experience there. Even if a doctor had to take time off due to an injury - the client didn't really feel the difference - business went on as usual and it was professional and I felt confident in the team. Due to a change in my location and availability, I decided to try Escondido - since it is closer to me. At first, it was not a pleasant experience! One morning I arrived ten minutes after opening, the front desk staff was just turning on the lights and the doctor was not even there yet (he is the only one scheduled and he arrived 15 minutes after opening?) I was not surprised as I had one adjustment with the chiropractor prior to this morning and he was very green and lacked awareness of others - seemed to be in his own world. This is the primary reason why I still cannot give the highest rating (and had I reviewed the location at that time, it would be a 2). I did have the pleasure of talking with the owner in Arizona who assured me he was putting together a good team and that I would not be disappointed. HE WAS CORRECT and am I ever relieved and happy that I don't have to travel to another location or not use this service at all! The Escondido office is now is comprised of a great team of chiropractors and a newer front desk staff that is attentive. I have been to each of the chiropractors at this site a couple times each. They are experienced and not too invasive with info or techniques. I feel their focus is to treat your pain or symptoms that you are experiencing at the time of treatment. Dr. Maxwell, Dr. Mather, and Dr. White have slightly different styles...however have the continuity that I experienced in San Diego. I look forward to updating this review in the future. read more

I'm in the area on a short vacation with my family and my upper back is extremely painful between my shoulder blades. After spending 20 minutes filling out 9 pages of info, Dr Heinz brought me back asked a couple of questions. She had me lie down on the table and she could tell I was in pain just being on my front and then asked me to sit up. She then told me I needed a better Dr and that she treated less severe cases and then gave me a referral card to auto injury Dr broker, even though I told her I hadn't been in an accident in many years. I'd been meaning to try a chiropractor for some issues I'd been having. I'd discussed with with friends and family who use chiropractic services and with my massage therapist and from my conversations, I felt this would be worth a try. Then I was walking by and saw the sign in the window at The Joint. It said $19 first time patient and that they took walk ins, so I decided to give it a shot on my next day off. On Friday I went in, filled out some paperwork and met with the chiropractor. He seemed knowledgeable and he had me go through some simple exercises and discussed my areas of pain. He then did some adjustments with me lying on my back, on my stomach, my side and then sitting up. Being new to this, the whole fast sharp pressure and cracking sounds really freaked me out, especially the neck ones, but I thought that it was beneficial to me. After my session I discussed with the person out front the packages they have available. This is one of those frnachises like a Massage Envy or something where people sign up for a membership. This one has a month to month option and then longer options. I could have just stuck with the one time deal or just come in randomly and pay $30 each time, but I thought I'd give the month to month option a try and see if it works with my schedule. It's $60 for a month and you get 4 visits during that time. If you want more, each visit is $19. Seems reasonable. I'm giving this a try and I'll update how that goes. For this experience, obviously it was good since I decided to go with the package, but I thought everyone at the location was professional and helpful. I'll keep you posted, and if you are looking for chiropractic services, this is definitely an affordable and convenient option. read more

As a sufferer of a form of muscular dystrophy, I've been regularly treated by chiropractors for over 4 decades. In my travels during that time, I've seen well over 30 chiropractors and experienced all chiropractic treatment methodologies. Yet, my visit to The Joint in Escondido, CA for help with a recurring subluxation pattern when my normal chiropractor was unavailable was unlike any other chiropractic visit I've experienced. Not only did the man who treated me COMPLETELY NEGLECT the 2 subluxation areas I specified as giving me grief (C3-5 and T1-2) and the primary reason for my visit, he did not perform ANY MANUAL manipulation of my spine at all. What he did was run his hands down the muscles along my spine, stretch my legs back and sideways, and use the same type of mechanical massage tool I have at home on mid-thoracic and lumbar spine areas, skipping my cervical and upper thoracic hot spots completely . In addition, NOT ONCE once did he perform any customary MANUAL adjustments on any part of my spine. After saying he was done, I was literally so shocked, I blurted out, "Aren't you going to do ANYTHING about my neck - the main reason for my visit?". His response was to say the massage tool he used alleviates subluxations, after which he whipped it out again and used it on my neck. But this DID NOTHING to clear the subluxation(s) needing attention. So I mean really . . . what type of bottom-of-the-bucket practitioners are you hiring? Is this guy's reliance on power tools because he is unable and/or unwilling to perform customary, manual adjustments? Is this symptomatic of why no chiropractors are specifically named on your website? I wonder . . . In addition, during what I hesitate to call "treatment", this person went on and saying 3 separate times (as if I was either stupid or deaf) that "swimming with fins in a warm pool would be the best thing for me". Mind you, this is after rolling into this guy's office in the type of complex electric wheelchairs popularized on fundraisers for "Jerry's Kids", AND telling him my disorder prevents me from performing ANY such type of physical exercise. This guy only let the subject drop after telling him I DO NOT have ANY SUCH ACCESS to a warm public pool. Finally, my opinion of "The Joint" was sealed when I heard the receptionist yell across the reception area asking the doctor for the correct spelling of . . . wait for it . . . "X-ray". Oy vey . . . In summary, had I wanted someone to simply palpate around my back and render a partial massage with a mechanical tool, I would have stayed home and had my caretaker do it. Or if I wanted a real massage, I could have employed one of the many therapeutic professionals located right in the area. But no, I wanted a customary, manual adjustment of a couple known problem areas, from an experienced chiropractor. Unfortunately, that's not what I got. So will I revisit "The Joint" in Escondido?
