You know what? For a Wetherspoons in Cambuslang, this is a pretty damn good pub. I was here on a Friday night for a friend's birthday and the place was busy. We were seated up the top in the dining area and the place is an amazing restoration from the former cinema built in the 20s. It's got glamour and style, and I love how they've kept some of the seating area at the top - although the creepy mannequins are super... creepy. The only issue with this place is that its order at the bar (expect to be around 10 minutes) and the food menu is ridiculous. There was so many dishes to choose from (over 30, by my guess) that it took me ages to decide what to have. I ended up going for macaroni cheese with extra cheese (hey, it was an option). The food arrived to our table pretty quickly and actually, I really liked the macaroni cheese. It was obviously insanely cheesy but also had a nice crumb of cripsy breadcrumbs on top. Generous size and super cheap at around £5. While I can't imagine going out of my way to go here, it was a great place to spend a while for a birthday night out so if I was in Cambuslang again, I might make my way back. read more

First of all I need to give some background as context to this review. I lived most of my life in the west of they city where local bars are in abundance and there are literally tonnes of places I would go for a pint. A few years back we moved to Cambuslang and there was literally no where in the area that I would go for a pint without fearing for my life. This meant the news of a Weatherspoon's opening on Main Street certainly gave cause for interest. Again more context is needed as I am not a fan of the brand and therefore I was ready to hate the place from the moment I walked through the door. The interior is huge and has been done up nicely. They have left a lot of the old touches from the bingo hall that was open here many years back. I like that they have not ripped all the old history out. The beer range is amazing and cheap. Literally the cheapest I can think of in Glasgow. £1.70 for a pint of craft IPA is unheard of these days. They also do food, but I am not sure I would eat here, it's more a bar in my mind. That said I had some onion rings last night and they tasted fine. If this bar had set up in other parts of Glasgow this review would be different I think, but in Cambuslang for me this is the best thing to happen since I got here 5 years ago. It's a shame they don't play music, but you can't have everything I guess. If your a lost tourist, this place is safe to stop for a pint. If your a local not from the area originally and without a "local" bar you should give it a try. If you have lived in Cambuslang all your like and usually stick to your normal bars you should still also check it out. I reckon you will be surprised at the range and value for money. read more

A lovely, big, beautifully decorated Wetherspoons. It is an old converted cinema which still has many of its original features (which for someone who is a big fan of theatre, is a huge plus!). We decided to pop in about two week ago for a drink while we were in Cambuslang. Inside, it has more than enough seating to deal with large groups; we visited around 2pm on a weekday and it was quite quiet and very easy to find a table. I headed towards the back of the seating area which is on a raised platform (there is a few stairs but also a disabled lift), from this area, you can see the former cinema seats which even have a few mannequins added! It's a little creepy at first, but a nice addition all the same. We had a quick look through the menu and decided to have fish and chips for myself and gammon and chips for my mum, both of which were on a deal which included a drink for the price (alcoholic drinks are only £1 extra). We got our drinks first and our meals quickly followed, the food was hot and very enjoyable; the curry sauce wasn't my favourite but went nicely with the fish. I would definitely recommend it! The added bonus is the outdoor area! On a nice day, it's a wonderful little place to sit and relax which we took advantage of after our meal, they have many small tables and a small area with a canopy and a comfier set of couches. I will definitely be visiting again, next time that I am in Cambuslang. read more

A lovely Wetherspoon establishment in an otherwise real ale-free town. Converted from an old cinema, a lot of the original features have been kept or enhanced. The upper circle is there still, with some creepy looking mannequins sat in the seats to watch you sup your pint! Throw in prices from £1.49 for a pint of cask beer, a large beer garden out the back and an open plan kitchen and this isn't just an excellent JDW pub, it's an excellent pub in its own right. read more

As an ale lover you can't complain at £1.59 a pint with a decent selection on tap. I'll be back purely on that basis, the fact it's local and I'm too scared to venture in anywhere else! Lol My neighbours have said the food is good. The building itself is nothing special inside, I expected more going on reviews and the outside looks great after renovation! Oh and we had to que?! for the bar...a first for me in 25 years! read more

We were a group of 6 here one Thursday evening and it just happened to be curry night. All of us had curries of various sorts and one had lasagne. No one complained about the food. It wasn't the best curry I ever had but it wasn't the worst. The food prices are great value as are the drinks. The interior is amazing. Witherspoon has done a great job of retaining the old theatre ,s interior. (See other reviews). Don't be put off by the location as Cambuslang Main Street could do with a very large facelift. There is also a small cafe about 50 yards from there we had lunch one day. Modern super clean interior, great homemade meals and snacks. Can't remember the name. read more
