From the rough sawn floors to the tools of the lumber jack trade over the centuries, it has a real feel that it belongs deep down a rough dirt road in the woods. It's an indescribably beautiful June afternoon, I'm sitting on the patio at The Jack and there's a distinct possibility that I'll never leave, ever! Set far off the highway, up a nondescript gravel road sits the answer to all your problems. Hungry? The Jack has got you covered. Feeling down? You'll forget you ever felt that way after five minutes here. Thirsty? Oh, you're thirst will get quenched, fear not. The Jack offers delicious snacks, you must try the pickle fries and the western burger will get you feeling that it's time to grab a campsite or a cabin and sleep it off. Did I not mention that there's a campground and cabins? Well, there are and even if you aren't rendered into a food coma after eating and need to sleep it off, I don't think you can go wrong claiming a spot for the night out here in nature. Service at The Jack is outstanding and I defy you not to get a warm welcome when you show up. There's live music and karaoke most weekends along with special events like a tractor pull and a logging competition. And yes, there is Wi-Fi and it's darned good. The Jack claims, and I don't think I can disagree, that it's the best bar in America. And after sitting on the patio, with my dogs mind you I am hard pressed to think of a better bar, anywhere! read more

I did an honest review on Google about the horrible experience we had with a drunk waitress, and drinks that were served. She responded as a brush off, one time visit gone bad. I've lived in Msla over 30yrs. Owner was there, she knows her bartender/waitress was drunk. She remembers the drunk waitress brought out food we didnt order. She knows she used bottom shelf coffee liquor and NOT Baileys and only used crown cause we stopped her when she attempted to pour whiskey in our Duck Farts. What I didnt say on Google was we ordered duck farts after a guy at the bar bought drinks for the Whole Bar and Patty tried to charge us for them, then was condescending when we reminded her he paid for drinks. Went here a couple years ago and it was like stepping back in time! Who would have thought that there was a saloon in the middle of a forest, but there was! It was so neat to walk in and smell the wood fireplace fill the air and see a table of regulars playing poker at a table. The dim lighting set the stage even more along with the crackling fire and the cold weather and snow outside! We had found our winter haven! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We were staying at Lolo Hot Springs and all the food options were closed up and we didn't want to drive all the way to Missoula, so we thought we would follow the signs for Jacks Saloon. We are glad we did! What a great experience. We got ourselves a couple burgers, steak fries and a couple beers. This hit the spot on a cold, winters night. We had a wonderful time. The cabins were cozy clean and rustic. The food was excellent. Service was friendly. Make sure you are not in a hurry. You can leave the fast-paced life at home. It was such a relaxing weekend. We will definitely go back again. It was nice to have WiFi in the restaurant and cabins for emergencies and for watching a movie on the iPad before bedtime. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained with Corn-hole game, fire pit, axe throwing game for kids and adults alike. Hiking/riding trails are wonderful. Logging roads for RZR riding. Actually deserves 0 stars but I will give it one star because the music and appetizers were decent. It was fairly busy when we arrived for lunch on a Sunday but we were willing to wait, and wait is what we did. We were there nearly 2 hours waiting and finally when we had enough, the waitress lied and said the order was being plated. We waited another 15 minutes as they brought out table after table of food to those around us. Clearly they weren't plating ours. I asked again what was taking so long and the waitress said they are starting it now. The problem was that many other people were getting their food before us so obviously they forgot to put the tickets in. When asked about it they lied again and said that all of those other people ordered inside before us then came outside to sit down where we were. I know they were lying because we watched the waitresses take their orders outside. Don't waste your time and money with these dishonest people. We told them to forget the order and paid for our appetizers and left. Might have been easier to accept if they had owned their mistake and apologized but they did nothing but lie. read more

Pretty good service but when my wife asked foe coffee with cream or milk she was told they had no milk products. They advertise a 8 oz sirloin steak dinner for 22 and it was not clear what it came with. Turned out it was fried or tots, a small salad would add 3 more. I ordered a cheese burger and had cheese options, got cheddar. Burger was a square patti on a standard basic bun. Onions sliced thin how I like them. About what I would make at home but I would have a better patti and probably get an upgrade bun. When I paid my bill at the bar someone asked how the burger was and I said OK and did not mean it in a bad way. I was then asked what was wrong with it and I said nothing. Then I was told it was the best burger in town. Sort of funny for a place ten miles from anything. Not a bad burger but far from epic. Overall bar atmosphere was good and we had a good time after dinner with live music. read more

What a beautiful cabin on a beautiful piece of land. Family was extremely nice they bought us our first drink as they do every customer for staying in the cabin and they paid for my child's meal without asking them to. Im leaving this review in hopes the New owners see it ..we live in the area and bring friends and family here when they come to visit. We have been to Jack's 3 times since June and we live the history and the building. The big old wooden bar etc all the cool things you come to Jack's to see. That being said.. it is a DESTINATION and if people are going to go out of their way to come to your restaurant you REALLY NEED to do something about your food quality. Our last visit our friend from out of state ordered Nachos. There was probably not more than a tablespoon of actual meat on the whole thing there was cheese but mostly it was chips and a few olives. Very disappointing for the price. The hamburgers were decent but not special in anyway. The time before that two of us ordered steak Medium rare.. both were well done. Of course we mentioned I this to the staff. I had cheese burger Once again okay but uneventful. We asked about dessert and we were told there are no desserts and no sweets at all of any kind. So the bottom line here is your cooking and your menu selections might need a little help if people are going to come a long distance to a place like Jack's. they really need a reason to come BACK! so give them some thing like good Quailty food! read more

Had such a great time in June, got my brothers and we came up in three trailers and stayed in their RV area. Great spot next to a stream and lots of room. We stayed the weekend, really enjoyed the band on Saturday night. I think we all gained 20 lbs from the food, steak sandwich and huckleberry mule were awesome. read more

We stayed here one night earier this month. Wish we'd known there would be LOUD live music played on Saturday nights until 2am on Sunday. We couldn't sleep! Our cabin was clean, but the experience was like sleeping in a garden shed. It appears that building codes don't exist out here. The hot and cold water lines were zip-tied to the shower door frame, the toilet was crammed into a (estimated) 24-inch wide space, and the shower floor felt like it was going to give way at any moment. There was no outlet for a hair dryer. The restaurant has good food. We each had a different kind of burger with onion rings and french fries. Everything was hot and freshly made. Even the pickles were crisp and tasty. I would definitely stop here to eat when we drive the Lolo Pass, but I will not stay here for the night again except as a last resort. read more

This is an absolute gem in the middle of nowhere! The food, the service, the people!! Absolutely amazing!! I could not have ever asked for a better experience. I was immediately treated like family, and continued until we left. I can't say enough kind words for everyone at Jack's. Patty, Shannon and all staff will forever have my heart The menu is fully developed by Patty, using the best ingredients, and cooking everything fresh to order! I was driving around with my sisters, taking our dad's ashes home, and just happened to run into this place on a quick "turn, because it looked interesting" You will pass the most beautiful valley, to find it. Great place for a beer and a burger. If you are looking for a place that is "Montana", have a beer or a whisky here. If you want a "duck fart with good coffee liqueur, or something blue to drink with fruit" stay in the city. Was a great tribute lunch to my father, who was born, raised and loved Montana. This bar is real. It's not better than most bars, but it is real and in a place where you would not expect a bar to live. It's the only and by extension best bar in miles. Coming from 90 it's maybe 10 miles on paved roads and 7 on dirt. Cheap beer and a ranch bottle at your table? Watching sheep and bikers? Pretty chill by me. read more

Overall-fun experience! We read reviews and decided to stop. Great atmosphere, we were here on a Sunday evening so did not expect much but still enjoyed our experience. Although they seemed unprepared for a crowd (1 waitress/bartender and 1 cook) they stayed friendly and kept up with the orders. Originally built by lumberjacks this bar is nothing short of interesting to say the least. Walking thru the tree, thats right, tree that is the entry way leads you into a very large tavern with live music playing on Saturday nights in the back corner. The bar is literally one piece of wood and enjoy the swing thats right next to it. People put their names on dollars throughout the place to let them know you made it to this dirt road , out of the way, bar. There are a few gambling machines and a pool table. The outside has an excellent covered deck where events can be booked and a fire pit awaits you on the lawn. Should you drink too much there are 4 cabins you can rent. They arent very nice, but they will save you a 30 mile drive ..AT LEAST. and a trip to the local jail. Bartenders are super, food...eh.....but this place is special and is part of Montana culture. I loved it and will go back next chance I get! I think you can bring your camper and stay for free as well! read more

This place got 4 stars since originally the owner had concerns on whether to accept my restaurant.com certificates which he later agreed to honor though it would be one per transaction per visit.anyone that goes there should bring cash or they will have to spend 2 bucks additional for a convenience fee or use their atm for what could be up to 5 bucks to use for a service fee.my daughter and I just wanted to order food and use our certificates and we live in Missoula.not very many places accepts those certificates (we had 3 of them and since there is a for sale sign on the building?we better use them as best as possible.even if it takes 3 trips.)and this was one of the places that did.food was great.for what the place was,the prices were I guess normal?If we happen to be in the area again,it's possible we can go there again?just take cash the next time since everyone was satisfied with what was ordered. read more
