loved the service the bartender was great and the energy was great. Dino cafe in the back is always tasty.

Missoula, Montana --- "Charlie B's" is bar 345 of "666 Bars of 2017" & a repeat bar from my #DUSA2016 tour ... no exterior sign, "Charlie B's" is just KNOWN by it's reputation ... my #2 favorite bar in Missoula, "Charlie B's" features Lee Nye's black & white pictures of Missoula residents/customers of customers of the past, with only a few still alive ... "Gunsmoke" on the TV was a nice change from blah sports, sports, sports ... customers "Larry" & "Leslie" greeted me with "Charlie B's" trivia & made me feel quite welcome ... day 115 "DUSA 2017" (Discover USA) day 168 "666 Bars of 2017" / bar 345 #RunAwayBill #WorldsLongestBarCrawl #666BarsUSA #DUSA2017 06.17.17

A moderately lit, intimate corner across from the main bar.

For a dive bar, this place is as good as it gets. The bartenders are all super friendly and knowledgeable, and the bar features a solid collection of beers on tap. The bar itself has a unique curve to it, allowing for anyone sitting anywhere to see the length of the bar and and attractive single patrons that might be sitting alone. There's a pool table and several keno machines, if you feel like winning some money. There's also a cool cafe in the back, called the Dinosaur Cafe, that features excellent Cajun food along with the traditional bar fare. It's open until 11, so you can eat late. If you want to experience Missoula, head on in to Charlie's.

A crowded place with cheap beer and plenty of locals. I had read about the place in Esquire's List of Best Bars in America and it was a pretty cool place. A small kitchen in the back, a few Keno machines, and pictures of old time customers on the wall.

Stopped in on a weekday on the way to Kalispell. The bartender was very friendly and told us about the local area.

They carry everything from accessible staples like Buffalo Trace and WhistlePig 10, to rare finds like Weller Full Proof and Octomore 13.3. They even have three single malts from the Game of Thrones collection. Solid pours that are affordable and enjoyable. The owner clearly curates with care. He knows what he is doing. The beer list is just as impressive. You can grab a PBR if that is your pace, or you can work through a rotating selection of craft beers. They have Delirium Tremens on draft, which you almost never see. A wide range of local Montana brews too. There is something for everyone, and nothing feels like an afterthought. The staff actually remembers you. The owner has built something that feels more like a community than a business. Even on a bad day, you are treated with dignity here. That is rare. If you are looking for a place with soul, a curated selection, and a staff that cares, this is it.

Before walking into The Silver Dollar Bar for the first time, it's vitally important to ask…read moreyourself one question: Have you ever listened to the Tube Bar Tapes? For those not in the know, The Tube Bar was a rough & tumble blue-collar bar run by an even tougher owner, Louis "Red" Deutsh. Long story short, two enterprising gentlemen decided to prank Red, and recorded the results of their calls to the bar. The end result, pure audio mayhem that are now known as 'The Tube Bar Tapes'. The Silver Dollar Bar is the kind of place that Red would run. It's a watering hole occupied by three types of drinkers: serious, heavy and alcoholic. It's the kind of place where you order serious, adult drinks. And, as others have pointed out- it's not a place where you're likely to be offered or be able to order an Appletini, Lemon Drop, Wine Spritzer, Jolly Rancher, or anything else usually best left to be served and imbibed by giggling girls in a sorority house. The Silver Dollar is a glorious bare-brass tack joint where you go when you want a night out with friends, but don't need the crowded headaches associated with the Higgins scene. Good people, good music on the juke box, good games, and good games.

Don't judge a book by it's cover! I had a work colleague tell me that this was a 'professional…read moredrinkers bar', but in reality, it's more like the Missoula version of Cheers... Loved every moment in there. Plenty busy, no rough crowd looking for a conflict, just fun folks having cocktails, playing pool, throwing some darts. My new favorite pub in a town I may not get back to in years...
