My 10-yr-old daughter is halfway through her first week of AHD Summer Dance Camp and absolutely loves it. I was nervous because she has never done a dance camp and I knew that if it was 6 hours of straight dancing she would hate it, but there are other fun and enriching activities as well that have sparked my daughter's imagination and creativity and she loves the dancing part as well. We tried this studio out for three months with another family. The teacher texted often and the girls had plenty of "free time" rather than learning dance. They much preferred the subs whenever they had one. Disappointing. The owner was not interested in working with us even though we have classes remaining. The owner said classes would be honored through the end of June, then mid-June and then just got told today is the last class! Disappointing. The owner also passed judgements, wasn't interested in having a conversation, nor finding a positive resolution. I would not recommend this studio. Utterly disappointing. Also, last week I paid for an hour class for my eldest daughter. It started 15 minutes late and got out on time. (I won't say the "d" word again.) The only saving grace is the woman that works at the front desk, who at least apologized to us. read more

My daughter is not a dancer, but wanted to have a birthday party here to do something different! She wanted to have fun creating a Tik Tok type dance. Forest was incredible- her creativity captured my daughter's vibe perfectly. All the kids had a fabulous time. it lead to my daughter wanted to take summer camp her... again her experience has been just incredible. She talks about camp nonstop from the time she gets home to the time she goes to bed. Now she wants to take dance in the fall. Had a great time here after stoping through to take some adult tap classes. I grew up tapping as a kid and haven't done it in years. It was a blast working out my feet and mind again, and it was just like riding a bike. I haven't forgot a thing! Decor was nice, bathrooms were clean, and the girl at the front desk was friendly and easy to work with. The kids that were around looked and sounded like they were having a blast in their classes and the schedule looks like it has something for everyone. I'll be back! read more

By far the best dance studio in the area! My 12 year old daughter has been in dance since age 3 and never has she felt so connected with a group as much as she feels with AH Dance. From the very first day she instantly felt welcome and part of the AHD family. The owner, Forest is wonderful and passionate and really has the kids as her best interest. The rest of teachers are wonderful, hands on and make every child feel welcome. The energy in the studio is wonderful and kids go home happy. During Covid they have made sure kids who can dance in studio are doing so safely and for those more comfortable to do classes via zoom still get the feel like they are in class. This studio is great for my daughter and during corona the owner Forest decided to do online intensives that my daughter enjoys. I think it is good that they are still doing online classes to keep the kids going. This studio is very nice and clean they work hard to make sure the kids are enjoying every step of the way. We have been going here for about 10 years and she never wants to leave. I would definitely recommend this studio to dancers that already have training or even new dancers! She has improved so much from this studio and they care for every child, I'm so glad we put her in this studio! read more

It is a shame to read such a review as I did from Z.Z. One that is not founded in truth. Having been to the studio and watching FOREST teach dance, I can honestly say that I have not seen as much love and dedication from a teacher as I do from her. I'm always dumbfounded when people feel their way is the only way. Such a poor lesson Z.Z. must be teaching their child. And to state that she only played two songs the entire year...well there's all the proof needed that the review given by Z.Z. was not only stated by someone who was not present during their child's class but that their review is riddled with lies. read more

I agree with another reviewer. I found this place to be very disorganized. The owner needs to hire more help and have more options. Especially now that my daughter found a new studio. The teacher was rude. My daughter is 8, she doesn't need attitude--No kids do. But the teacher did not inspire or instruct. It was very odd. Teacher sped thru routines and didn't teach at all. We left after a month. Once you experience a better place as we have, you really see how terribly run this place is. I'm not happy I wasted $100+ but I'm more grateful for where we ended up. read more

The way the owner operates this studio borders on criminal. I signed up for 2 weeks of summer dance for my 6 year old and was assured if I needed to change the dates that I could do so ,no problem. Always lots of moving parts handling multiple children's schedules. Low and behold I emailed the owner and explained that I would, in fact, need to change the dates and suggested two different weeks. She responded that she was "super busy" and would get back to me. When I heard nothing I followed up. Again her response was that she was "running out" and would get back to me but that it shouldn't be a problem. From that email, I inferred that I could switch and that was that (ridiculous that I had to follow up twice but that's another story) Imagine my surprise when I I came to found out that one of the weeks i had switched to was not actually a week that they are offering camp. I politely emailed the owner to ask her to transfer the credit to my friend and her daughter who attend the school regularly or get a refund for one of the weeks. I was given the run around for 2 weeks (with multiple emails and follow ups to the owner, many of which received no response, the rest told me over and over again how busy she was and never gave me an actual answer). She finally got back to me and told me that it was my fault for not reading the schedule correctly (UMMMM, this could have all been avoided if she had emailed me back in the first place to tell me that one of the weeks that I was trying to switch to was not an option....) and that she couldn't allow a credit to my friend (my friend would have reimbursed me which meant this business owner would have not lost a single penny in the transaction and kept everyone happy) and then proceeded to tell me that it was entirely my fault because I didn't bother to come to the studio to sign up in person and take a tour and these problems would have been avoided if I had done so (never, ever was something like this explained to me nor was it stated that it was required of me to me to do so, but regardless, someone should be able to be a patron of a business without touring the facility first.) You will see from my yelp account that I do not write bad reviews, only good ones. But I feel so violated by this owner's lack of flexibility, lack of business acumen and overall passive aggressive behavior that I am hoping someone will read this and avoid the loss of money and heartache that I have experienced. I own several businesses myself and would never, ever have the success I have had if I treated people like this. Plus it's just bad karma!!! I wish this place luck. I can not image how on earth people support this woman and her business!!! read more

I was looking for adult dance classes and decided to check this place out, since they offered the most variety for us older folk, plus they are at night which was a huge plus for me so I could go to them after work. I was hooked after my first adult tap class. It was incredibly fun and brought the child out inside of me. If anyone has ever taken a tap class, even if it was 50 years ago, I highly recommend taking a tap class here from Betsy. It is so nice to be in a class where I am not the oldest one by 30 years! I had originally planned on just taking one class, but I am now in 3 different ones a week and enjoy every minute of it. I highly recommend this dance studio. The staff is professional and very friendly and it is a fun atmosphere. read more

I took dance with FOREST for 10 years, and I still enjoy taking her adult classes when I have the opportunity. She creates the perfect balance of community and structure by socializing through the stretching section - often asking younger students where they're flying during the butterfly stretch or finding out what students' favorite songs are so she can play them throughout the class - and then really pushing her students to learn the dances for the remaining 50 minutes. She always has the most fun music playing, from start to finish, and every class gets a special warm-up depending on their age range. I have never been able to take a dance class from someone with as much energy or passion for what they are doing. Agoura Hills Dance is lucky to have her! read more

i took dance classes with Forest for YEARS and i can safely say she is one of the best teachers i've ever had and one of the absolute nicest people you will ever meet. She is extremely passionate about teaching and very knowledgeable about dance. She works hard to make sure all of her students are learning and having fun at the same time. She has been teaching for many years and has a lot of experience. Not only that, she has a heart of gold. I highly recommend the hip hop classes here with her. Lovely family friendly dance studio in Agoura Hills which welcomed my 10 yr old girl warmly last year :-). My daughter took ballet with Vanessa and Hip Hop with Forest (whom she adores, fabulously friendly and creative, nurturing and professional). Betsy the owner and manager is onsite daily and is a teacher herself (tap), she makes sure to keep the studio relaxed and laid back, none of the "clickiness" sometimes found at other dance studios will be found here :-). Highly recommend for those who have kids who just want to try an hour or 2 a week, or those who have a competitive yearning (my daughter just joined the team) as the Agoura Hills Dance team has placed top 3 in most of the competitions it entered this year!! read more

I had a terrible experience at this dance studio and will tell all of my mommy friends to avoid it. The teachers were capable and kind, however, the owner was very unprofessional. The owner's lack of customer service, not to mention any concern for the young dancers (including my four-year-old daughter) was unacceptable. I started going to Agoura Hills Dance over 10 years ago and would dance Jazz and participate in musicals through this studio. Every teacher has been professional and wonderful, but more than anything they brought one that changed my life. Forest Roy is a hip hop teacher through this studio and she is mind blowing. I took classes with her from the 6th grade through high school and she just affected everyone around her. Beyond becoming a better dancer, I became a better person through her lessons. Over the years I have watched her touch lives like mine, but more than that, she has taken children with learning disabilities, autism, etc. and given them confidence and faith in themselves. The work she does truly brings tears to your eyes. If you want your kids to have confidence, develop technical skills taught from someone who has preformed with the best (even had been featured on MTV), and be taught by someone unbelievably inspirational...hip hop at Agoura with Forest. read more

My daughter started dancing when she was 3 years old. We stared at another local dance studio but quickly learned it wasn't for us. They were very exclusive and snobby. Then I found Agoura Hills Dance. Fast-forward 9 years later! My daughter takes 10 hours of dance a week there and I never would have thought I could afford it but the more classes I signed her up for, the cheaper the rate was so we went all in. My daughter has gained so much self-confidence and assuredness from dancing. The instructors have been so supportive to her. Nobody teaches tap better than Betsy. Forest and Brim are amazing for Hip Hop. Megan really pushes her students in ballet. And there have been so many great Lyrical teachers there over the years. They are doing something right to attract such talented teacher/choreographers. I simply love Agoura Hills Dance. I recommend it to all my friends and many have moved there on my recommendation. If you are looking for a studio that has a friendly atmostphere, rigorous training, diversity of genre, excellent choreography, and professional potential, then look no further. I have nothing to gain from my recommendation. I just love this place.My daughter is so much more confident, industrious, creative, fit, and happy, all because of dance.
