Timing is definitely everything when coming here. Plan to wait several hours if you arrive anytime after 7pm, especially on a weekend. My friends and I went on a Wednesday evening around 5:30pm. We literally waited less than 20 minutes! We got to take several pictures and enjoy the scenery. Once you sign the e-waiver, you are immediately taken to play carnival games. There are 3 games: the water gun game, hacky-sack target throwing game, and the ring toss. You have one chance to win on each game. If you're a winner, you'll receive a red ticket which gets you a chance to spin the big wheel of prizes. I ended up winning a pretty cool poster. After all the fun and games, you and your group are taken into the fun house. There's a narrator/guide who takes you into each room. Be ready for an amazing, thrilling and frightening experience. I don't want to spoil anymore for you guys. You'll have to check this experience out for yourselves. I highly recommend the IT Chapter 2 Experience, especially if you love getting a good scare.

The IT experience is advertised as a 40 minute experience where you get to indulge yourself in different themes to the new upcoming movie. Unfortunately the experience itself is more about 20 minutes at most. & that isn't count the 2 hours I waited in line prior to getting in. This is me also having reservation tickets for 7pm. The line barely moves and it's a slow process and I originally thought it took so long as each experience took about 40 minutes, however; that wasn't my experience. You start off by being placed into groups and you have a guide or ring leader or whatever he referred to himself as. He goes and lead you to the carnival area which is set up with 3 games you are allowed to play and win tickets to spin for a prize at the end. They have a Ferris wheel but it is definitely for show as no one is actually allowed to ride it. There are a few photo ops in this area that you can sneak in, but everything is kind of rushed as you must stay with the group to get through the experience. Once entering PennyWise mouth (without giving away any details) you are guided through with your guide to the very end moving room to room together. It was a good experience as you didn't run into the previous crowds as they time it in intervals. It's not as immersive as they made it out to be for my taste. Photos and recordings are encouraged as long as there is no flash. At the end, you are taken to a souvenir gift shop booth that only accepts card. Everything I wanted was unfortunately sold out. They did have a cool rain jacket that I liked that I might get today as I have another reservation. If you earned tickets you get to spin for a prize, but all the big prizes that you would actually want are already sold out. (IMAX tickets, gift card to sushi restaurant, etc..) you'll probably win a poster or one pack of popsecrets popcorn. The staff/security however, are great. I wasn't feeling well waiting in line. And I'm not sure if it was my claustrophobia or low blood sugar, but I started getting seriously clammy and faint. One security guard went and got me water and reassured me if I need anymore, to not hesitate and ask. I sat for a bit in the bathroom to collect myself as their portapotty trailer bathroom has stalls and air conditioning as my best friend held our place in line. After feeling a bit better, I joined her back in line as within five minutes I started feeling ill again. This female security went and got me water and stayed with me until I moved to be sectioned off into the group to make sure I was okay. She even offered to call the paramedics, as they have them present along with police if needed. She let me know that they have medication and other things to help if I wasn't feeling well. But I really didn't want to lose my spot after waiting 2 hours. lol Rickia was her name. She was definitely helpful to me. Anyways the experience is an experience and I normally wouldn't want to experience it again, however, I'm going today with my hubby, and tomorrow with my other best friend. So different experiences with different people. I think if you do come at the right time, you won't have to wait long but you have to time it correctly. I parked in a parking structure down the way that was $10. And they have street dogs and a taco stand on the corner for your hunger needs. I'm not sure about the taco man, but the dirty dogs lady accepted card and Venmo lol they're moving up in the world

An extremely popular FREE pop-up funhouse to promote the launch of IT: Chapter 2. They have a reservation system on their website or you can show up for the standby line. This activation is on par with the detail and and design of the first pop-up that was the Neibolt House. This activation lasted a bit longer, approx 40min to get thru everything. They have carnival games in the waiting area that give you tickets for free stuff at the end via a spin wheel. The concept is built around the movies carnival so half of the walk thru are rooms from the movie and half are funhouse type rooms. 10 rooms in total. Our group had a great time and would recommend to friends in the area to try. Disclaimer: we did not have to wait in line, so not sure how long I'd wait in que before that effected my overall experience.

The tickets were sold out so you either had two options. First option would be to wait 5 hours depending on day and time which was an option for tonight on a Sunday being the last day as well. Second option is to buy imax tickets for the show that night and you skip the "line" in which we waited two hours. It wraps around the entire block. The Toomer Security team kept telling people to go on Facebook to give them a good review. Some guards were rude while some were friendly. The reason why it is so long is because they go in groups and they wait for one group to play three games in which you have to as they bring you there before entering the funhouse. The funhouse itself is guided and goes in groups of about 15. You go through rooms and get scared and it's fun and interactive overall. If you win the games you get a red ticket and at the end you get to pick a gift of a poster or popcorn.

Rosenheim built the mansion in 1908 to live in his wife. In around 1930 Edward Everett Horton lived there. The Sisters of Social Service then took over the mansion in 1930, using it as a convent and adding a chapel to the building in 1932. Around 1999/2000 the site was declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. It was beautiful and still is in its own right. It was later sold in 2015 for about 3 million, which was a huge price cut from its initial offering. There was a lawsuit against the sellers agent for never disclosing that the property was featured on American Horror Story. Fans of the TV show stated going to it and this made the owners just a tad upset. It is now Murder House. You can now up to walk Murder House and take photos of the beautiful mansion and the area greenery. It is about an hour of fun. I had read that some can walk though it, but I did not see anyway to do that.

The theme this year is "Evil in the London Fog," and right when you enter, you feel like you've stepped into a foggy, cobblestoned, Victorian London of the past. This was my first haunted house I've ever done, and I don't like being scared. It is the perfect intro to haunted houses for someone like myself who is a scaredy cat - it was light on gore and very brief which made it manageable to walk through. There was a bit of a line, but it moved quite fast. The haunted house is built on their front yard (amazing), so you will get through it quite quickly. It is free, which is incredible for the amount of work that goes into it. However! There is a box where you can leave donations, and all proceeds go to Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter. Everyone who was working the haunt was so friendly, with fantastic themed costumes to boot. Absolutely wonderful vibes all around! They deserve no tricks and ALL the treats!

It's a free event, so a long line is understandable -- just something to plan for. The overall vibe inside was fun and worth checking out if you've got the patience. My only suggestion would be for them to open more than just four days in October. That would help spread out the crowds and make it easier for more people to enjoy the experience without such a long wait.

(2) Premium Parking - $25 for parking at the Merry-Go-Round lot. (3) Free parking - park at the L.A. Zoo and a free shuttle will take you to & from the event. Wifey and I got free tickets from Midsummer Scream again, so thank god for that as they raised the prices this year. We parked at the L.A. Zoo at 5:45PM, left on the first free shuttle at 6:06PM, and then entered the event at 6:45PM (even though they said that doors open at 6:30PM). Went straight to the Hayride, where we walked straight to the back and got on the first wagon of the night. Got off the Hayride at 7:10PM and hit the merch store for some goodies before they ran out. Entered the Fallen Angel maze at 7:26PM where again, we walked right to the front. Entered the Elvira's Trick or Treat Mayhem maze at 7:37PM - spoiler alert, we walked right to the front! Entered the Hellbilly Halloween maze at 7:50PM (do I even need to say anything about the lack of line?) and was done with everything by 8PM flat! Wham bam, thank you ma'am! I don't know about all the negative reviews this year, but it seems like the recurring factor is that people showed up later in the night when the crowds got big, making it mission impossible to see everything. Again, us peasants had general admission but showed up when they opened, so we had free reign for spooky delights with the added benefit of elbow room! If you dropped top dollar for VIP or Platinum, I have some magic beans to sell you! Wifey fell in love with the apple cider topped with a cider donut from the Midnight Falls Cider Mill last year - thankfully they brought it back this year and it's still a delicious treat on a cool night. Next we tried the Loco Fries (Asada Fries) from the Ghost Pepper Cantina and a foot-long corndog from The Wicked Oven. The fries were better out of the two, but both are typical fair-type quality. I'd honestly recommend just getting treats here and eating a proper meal before/after the event. Since our tickets were free, we actually did two add-ons - the S'Mores Package and the Scary-Go-Round. They're both self-explanatory - we cooked our own smores by designated firepits in the food area by the Hayride. There's an employee on deck with a fire extinguisher just in case things get out of hand, but it was a pretty chill experience that brought back nostalgic memories of camping ages ago. The Scary-Go-Round ticket lets you ride it once, but it also had us nostalgic for simpler times so we enjoyed letting our inner kids run amok! Fyi - there's a 250 weight max for the Scary-Go-Round for all you grande kings and queens. Overall we liked last year's Haunted Hayride better, but this is definitely going to be a yearly tradition for us. Wish there was more variety with the mazes and wish there were more of them instead of 3, but the Hayride itself is the main attraction and they really go all out with the various scares. Not the biggest fan of strobe lights and fog machines, which they go overboard with both all throughout the event, so prepare to have little to zero visibility at certain parts. Also, if you plan on dressing like you're going clubbing - the entire place is dirt, so maybe instead dress in not so fancy clothes with closed shoes because you're going to be covered in dirt/dust. Blowing your nose clean and showering afterwards is a must!

I'd describe it as an adult, haunted house, mystery theater, burlesque, nightclub party. It is definitely not for children (there was one room with completely naked performers) We thought House of Spirits was excellent. The space, decorations, costumes and especially the performers. They were really into their craft and interactive with guests. We also really enjoyed all the specialty cocktails. We went midday which was less expensive and thought it is was a good value for the experience. As there were significantly fewer attendees midday we had a far more interactive experience than if it were packed - which I feel would also have been fun but more in a nightclub/ party sort of way where you might interact with other attendees more. Although they had musical performances, it actually would be good for that one selected room to have music playing constantly -between performances- and a paid bar option -to lean things more to a party vibe. We did spend a hefty $34 (with tip) for 2 light pours of red wine in the lobby which I would not recommend. We would have happily paid for another specialty cocktail or two (but in the actual venue) not the lobby. We definitely recommend experiencing House of Spirits -especially with a small group of friends!

There's a lot to see and do in 2 hours, plus, you gotta make sure you get all your mini cocktails included in your admission. All the rooms are spectacular and the shows are fascinating. It is always hard to solve the mystery since you have to talk to all the characters for various clues. This year, we decided just to enjoy everything.
