We're in the middle of a job with the Insulation Group, getting (1) a new hot water heater combi unit and (2) insulation blown in our attic. I'm experiencing a long time lag in between these steps but it's per MY request, as I'm finishing other work on the house before insulation can be installed. I appreciate their flexibility. We met the Insulation Group at a NJ home show. Customers get a "home energy assessment," followed by a sales visit with a pitch (of course). The sales visit is like 1-2 hours long, and I didn't find our salesman pushy at all. I like the Insulation Group folks I've worked with, from our energy audit girl, to the sales guy, and especially the owner (Joe, I believe) and his handyman who installed our new Navien combi unit (Craig). I also like that they do everything the right way - pulling local permits, handling all the paperwork, inspections, etc. This is a good company, run by honest people. I think I'm paying a bit more than if I went with another company, but I think it's worth it. I've had a great experience working with them ...and how often can you say that when working with ANY home improvement company or contractor? Also, the quality of work thus far is superb. Do not use this company. They came in did this audit for energy program. They stalled around for 3 months canceling appointments. For all kinds of reasons. Then told us all his men walked out and he closed his boiler dept down. There price with the ' insulation " rebate is bogus. Overcharging now that I am pricing it again. They act so nice but are full of it. read more

I had them come in for an energy audit. The audit itself seemed to be well done. Once our salesperson came to review the results, the issues started. He said we could benefit greatly from more insulation and sealing, which I'm sure is true. He also said he would need to replace our almost new water heater, because it was likely to carbon monoxide poison us. He went on for a while about how it may not kill us - but it might. He provided no evidence for this claim at all, and as far as I can tell by researching and talking to our plumber I don't think it's true. Then he quoted us a price which was out of range for insulation, and then knocked off $1000 up front as a "discount". A discount from what I don't know because he didn't leave a detailed estimate or any other paperwork at all with us, and he deflected the question when I asked him to. He pressured us to sign up on the spot, or at least within a couple days. Then he hasn't even followed up with a phone call as promised. Not that I want to talk to him again. High pressure sales at its worst from a company who clearly does not want to give me the time or information to shop around. read more

I wouldn't recommend them. They seem unethical in how they do business. I had them come in for an energy audit and they seemed honest and doing a good job, however when they came back to go over the audit results I felt their sales rep Mike was disrespectful, unprofessional, and just not pleasant to work with. They came in with a plan to replace my entire HVAC system and seal the house as well as insulate more. I asked for a breakout of the cost, and he refused to do so unless I was more likely than not going to do business with them. I stated I do not know as I don't know the numbers. In my opinion he should have stated here is the cost to seal and insulate the house, here is the cost to replace the HVAC system and here is the package deal. I shouldn't have to push to get this answer or ask for it and be told you aren't willing to put this number together unless I'm going to give them my business. They should say here is the cost and here is your estimated energy savings on A, B and A&B as a package. Buyer beware. read more

Who am I, a layman on the subject, to write that it doesn't get any better than this, but we are very satisfied. Our house has never been more comfortable and we did achieve some money savings. Over the summer we lost power for several days during a heat wave. The temperature inside stayed between 74-76 because of the insulation. The bedroom over the unheated garage is comfortable year round. It used to be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Well worth the money. I found Insulation Group easy to do business, responsive and there was no high pressure sales tactics with me. We had the work done about 18 months ago so we've had a chance to evaluate the effectiveness. I got their name as an approved contractor from a list published by the State of New Jersey. We were required to pick from this list to be eligible for the state rebates. I was impressed the Insulation Group does their own control control review before have the the state people came in to inspect everything through a rather intensive review. Everything was approved by state first time around. read more

I was in the market to replace my 35 year old HVAC system. Even though it was still running with limited issues, it was old, inefficient and as we know just a matter of time before it would breakdown at the wrong time. So I thought I'd be pro active and just get it done when I could efficiently shop it with zero pressure to do so. In my search I scoped out 4 different contractors, of which The Insulation-Heating & Cooling Group was one. Sam, one of the owners, came to my house and gave me what I thought was a first rate assessment. What I liked most about it was his thoroughness and professionalism. None of the other vendors approached my job in the same manner. The other vendors were simply selling a product, Sam was selling an "energy solution". They ended up giving me a quote for not just the requested HVAC system, but included a tankless water heater and an insulation package. The cool part was they also are NJ State Certified and included a rebate, that required ZERO effort on my part to obtain. They would do all of the legwork. Bottom-line, I got the whole package described for just a couple of hundred dollars more than the other proposals that were just for a HVAC system alone. Their service was very good and timely. As a matter of fact there was a gas pipe that was coming into the house that appeared to be corroded. Joe Simone, another owner, notified us of that and reacted same day to get it replace by his crew for a nominal fee. It ended up that that pipe was just a short time away from disintegrating and causing a huge issue, potentially disastrous issue. Great Company, Great Staff, Super Ownership. I would like to share my story and exercise my right of freedom of speech to let people know my story about the owner of this company... I was previously employed by the owner of this company as an energy auditor. I was promised full time work and as the weeks went on I was only receiving part time work. I then went to the owner about it and he invited me in to his office one day which was labeled by him as a meeting to which I thought we were going to talk about me finally getting full time work.. instead I was fired on the spot and told there was not enough work to keep me up to par and there were no other positions to fill and that I should call in august when the season picked up... so taking my losses I left and waited several months and called and emailed and sent several text messages that were never answered. Obviously I got screwed over in the worst way from the man. Then I get a letter from unemployment saying that this man has the audacity to try and deny my unemployment benefits by lying and saying I refused work on saturdays because my wife was pregnant!!! Long story short I provided the state with the contract he wrote up prior to employment not only stating that he had to give me 5 days written notice of termination which he obviously never did but also stated I was only to perform audits mon-fri and saturdays were only by certain request. Proving my case and awarding me my funds! For a man to do that to another honest hard working man with a baby on the way is simply just un thinkable! Nice try but the truth always prevails!! read more
