We ignored this. After set up, he finally started playing and singing music. I told John up front we had lots of song requests and people that would want to sing. Nick did not have or know a lot of them. It was my party so I was singing and having a good time. People farthest from the set up could not hear anyone singing besides Nick and his guitar. He took many breaks and was served drinks. We were all a bit befuddled by the whole thing. Not professional. Was asked if his Dad could do magic at the party, I declined this but after he got here he still asked again and then asked about doing balloon animals for the kids. Out of kindness I said okay but was not going to pay him. JUST very awkward. I am very disappointed in the company along with the amount of CASH I paid up front. I would be very leery of hiring this outfit. And lastly, like my husband said, we had tons of people here wanting to have a fun time, but guests were upset and sad over the set up. Pretty hard to upset a crowd just wanting to have fun.

"EIGHT MORE SONGS! EIGHT MORE SONGS!" - about 150 people chanting from the dance floor after DJ…read moreSticky announced the last song at my wedding When planning our big fat Indian-Persian-Filipino-American wedding, my now-husband and I sat down and made a list of the things that were important to us (epic dance party, food, vows, etc. ) and the things that weren't (place settings, favors, chair covers, etc.). DJ Sticky (i.e. Paul) is so, so awesome. He's beyond professional and totally deserves all the industry awards he's always winning. He was also the only person I would've fully trusted to be the ringleader of our epic dance party (as well as our outdoor ceremony). Good DJs are rare birds, so we saved money in those areas that weren't that important to us so we could invest in the best. Nora Events isn't necessarily cheap, but between the ceremony and the reception, Paul was working the entire day, absolutely killing it. By the end of the night it felt like we'd gotten the best deal of our lives. The planning process was easy (he uses a lot of online tools, which I love). I went a little overboard with the pre-event song workbook and chose, like, 245984152 hours of music. I was really specific about what I didn't want played too. I had SO much classic rock and lame wedding songs on that "do not play" list, and it was glorious (I highly recommend making a don't play list with any DJ, actually). Anyway, Sticky managed to pull the best from my ridiculously long playlist and throw in plenty of surprises too. And best of all, he was really in tune with what the crowd wanted. In our case, that meant that the (very) few slow songs played were Motown, and everything from Iranian pop to European house music was fair game. And a lot of Ke$ha. Almost a year later and we still get compliments about how great the reception was (and how great my moves were, obviously). And since we don't have another wedding to plan, my husband and I are considering putting Paul on retainer for New Year's Eve dance parties from 2017 until one of us dies.

Rick goes for the high-pressure hard sell right away, which I don't really appreciate. But…read morehonestly, I think he has to in order to convince couples that NL is worth the extra money. They are. We had a wedding and reception in Seattle and a reception in Minneapolis, so I had the chance to compare what you get when you try to save money on the DJ to what you get when you spend the extra. And honestly, you get what you pay for. I won't comment on my Seattle DJ, besides to repeat that you get what you pay for. But we knew we were going to have a smaller group in the Cities and that the DJ was going to have to play a central role in the reception here. Chris was our DJ, and he was great. He was there before us, set up went fine. He rolled with the punches when a bunch of technical stuff didn't work out. He made announcements, hosted a "game show" that we did for fun, and made the 10-15 people who stayed to dance enjoy themselves. Basically, he ran the show from 6:00 to 11:00 That's not to say we didn't have the night planned out...we did. But after listening to our instructions, he pretty much controlled the room. The DJ was a professional, and so was the set up. We weren't really penny pinching on our wedding stuff, but we're not rich either. But we decided we weren't going to skimp on the DJ here, and it was one of the better choices we made during this whole process.

Because I was organizing for a school, Northern Lights was very accommodating to our needs -- they took requests up until 24 hours before the event, didn't play anything inappropriate for a school function, and were priced well for the services. We've had other DJs in the past, but this was the first year that 100% of our students were happy with the music at Prom!

Adrian kept everyone happy and on the dance floor!…read more He did such an amazing job of playing music for every age group and his ability to read a room was clear during our reception and dinner - he kept things upbeat but didn't take away from people catching up and talking. At the end of the night everyone was on the dance floor having a blast - people were soar for days. Adrian is also a great MC. It's a relief to have someone guide the evening along and he does it in a way that's professional but fun. We didn't realize how important that was until after our wedding, it's really important. Other notes: - Super easy to work with. - Equipment and lighting were perfect for the outdoor and indoor spaces. - Polite to guests who request terrible songs that will kill the vibe. - Professional, fun, and reliable. - Our DJ is the first thing people talk about when the tell us how much fun they had at our wedding.

He DJ'ed as well as we could have possibly hoped. The dance floor was completely full of guests from the time we opened it up to (from what I've been told) 20 minutes after my new wife and I left the building. Adrian was awesome to work with before and after the wedding, helping us pick out playlists and lighting options, even driving out to the venue several times to make sure everything would work perfectly and the night would go off without a hitch! Better than we could have asked for, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Events by MV to a friend.
