We also had a wide range of guests, so we really appreciated that he kept the party going while still keeping everything family-friendly and appropriate. All our guests raved about him, and we've been really happy to be able to recommend him to some of our close friends with upcoming weddings. We ignored this. After set up, he finally started playing and singing music. I told John up front we had lots of song requests and people that would want to sing. Nick did not have or know a lot of them. It was my party so I was singing and having a good time. People farthest from the set up could not hear anyone singing besides Nick and his guitar. He took many breaks and was served drinks. We were all a bit befuddled by the whole thing. Not professional. Was asked if his Dad could do magic at the party, I declined this but after he got here he still asked again and then asked about doing balloon animals for the kids. Out of kindness I said okay but was not going to pay him. JUST very awkward. I am very disappointed in the company along with the amount of CASH I paid up front. I would be very leery of hiring this outfit. And lastly, like my husband said, we had tons of people here wanting to have a fun time, but guests were upset and sad over the set up. Paul was recommended to us by a friend - he was responsive, a clear communicator, his contract was simple and justified. He took time to understand us and what our vibe was, took care of all the details, made sure everything flowed perfect throughout the evening. We got married at The Whim, and he had great advice on where to place speakers during cocktail hour, the dance floor, etc so that everyone could hear well throughout the night. He honored our playlists we provided for cocktail hour and the dance party while still adding his own flair. He read the dance floor and kept it packed ALL NIGHT. They are. We had a wedding and reception in Seattle and a reception in Minneapolis, so I had the chance to compare what you get when you try to save money on the DJ to what you get when you spend the extra. And honestly, you get what you pay for. I won't comment on my Seattle DJ, besides to repeat that you get what you pay for. But we knew we were going to have a smaller group in the Cities and that the DJ was going to have to play a central role in the reception here. Chris was our DJ, and he was great. He was there before us, set up went fine. He rolled with the punches when a bunch of technical stuff didn't work out. He made announcements, hosted a "game show" that we did for fun, and made the 10-15 people who stayed to dance enjoy themselves. Basically, he ran the show from 6:00 to 11:00 That's not to say we didn't have the night planned out...we did. But after listening to our instructions, he pretty much controlled the room. The DJ was a professional, and so was the set up. We weren't really penny pinching on our wedding stuff, but we're not rich either. But we decided we weren't going to skimp on the DJ here, and it was one of the better choices we made during this whole process.

It's a relief to have someone guide the evening along and he does it in a way that's professional but fun. We didn't realize how important that was until after our wedding, it's really important.
