You couldn't even sit in it for fear of what you may be sitting on. The outside of the camper was just as disgusting. I guess it never occurred to the campground owners to power wash it. I spent at least two hours cleaning and disinfecting the camper that we were told was new. Lies. If I was on this trip alone, I would have left immediately. Reluctantly I paid my bill - almost $200 a night! I still feel like disputing with my charge card company because we were lied to and taken advantage of. Not sure how they live with themselves renting this camper to people. When I went to the office to complain, they had the nerve to tell me it was cleaned. I am not an idiot.

The camp map needs a lot to be desired since the sited are placed among the trees. We stayed three nights and should have stayed longer. Boulder Junction 10 miles away and Walmart 17 miles away. We…read morehad heavy rain Friday evening but were prepared so actually enjoyed drifting off to sleep with it. Woke up to all our belongings still dry and the sun drying things up. We ended up hiking around 6 miles of the park. Tried our hand at fishing off the fishing pier but no luck, lots of algae bloom. The lake was a lot clearer but we didn't have a boat or canoe. The bathrooms were super clean and updated. Showers are free and well lit. Will definitely be back!

It was a beautiful trail, unpaved (my preference), but kept up. Not all the trails were marked, so either get a map at the front gate or take a picture of one you find. We also took a couple other trails - all enjoyable. The bathrooms are pit toilets in a decent setting (I've definitely experienced worse). Because of the size, beauty, and diverse offerings, it would be easy to spend a day at this park. Day parking fee is $11.

Located in the Northwoods of northern Wisconsin, the park's highlight is the Doughboy Trail, a well-developed two-mile loop that offers excellent views of both Copper Falls and Brownstone Falls. The trail is easy to follow, well-maintained, and includes several scenic overlooks. Because of its distance--several hours from cities like Madison--I recommend combining a visit with other Northwoods attractions. A great option is to stop here while exploring the Apostle Islands or the Bayfield area. Once inside the park, follow the main road past the ranger station until it ends at the parking lot, where you'll find restrooms and the Doughboy Trailhead. This is a beautiful park and well worth the stop, especially if you plan it alongside other northern Wisconsin adventures.
