This has been the best campground I have ever been to. The grounds are impeccably clean, and the staff is exceptionally friendly. The other campers are also very welcoming, contributing to a pleasant community atmosphere. The beach is well-maintained, and the lodge offers delicious ice cream and fried food. Being on the Chippewa Flowage is truly a sight to behold, with its chain of lakes, beautiful untouched scenery, and some of the best (and hardest) fishing around. I have been coming up here for 16 years and plan to continue coming for the rest of my life. This campground provides a perfect blend of natural beauty and excellent amenities. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic camping experience. Seriously, bring the family, boat, and a love for nature. You are sure to enjoy and come back again.

It was at Lake Chippewa that we held the first of what I expect to be an annual extended family camping event. Let me first start off by saying...THIS PLACE IS DOG FRIENDLY. I almost would guess that over 70% of sites had a dog. About a 3 hour car trip from Mpls (unless your bf is directionally challenged :). Located right on the flowage, there was abundant water activities to enjoy. We had a group campsite which gave us more than enough room to put up 3 tents and a food screen tent. We had our own beach from which we docked canoes and kayaks. Next year we will definitely be bringing the pontoon. There were portapotty's right near us for the early morning visit and a shower/bathhouse a 5 minute walk away. The lodge had everything we could have needed if we forgot anything and delivered firewood to your campsite nightly if you requested it. There was mini-golf, volleyball and waterballoon wars. They had a big beach area with docks and toy for the younger kids. There was so much to do we didn't get a chance to try it all in our stay. But...things to remember for next time...get the group site for more than 2 tents, even though a good number of other sites also had water access. Bring a bike/scooter to get around the campgrounds. It is a large property and it will make it easier to get around. Luckily we had brought our scooter. and the most important....it cost 25 cents to shower for 3 minutes...stock up on quarters. At first this irked us, but after being there we realized they did that to keep the kids moving through the bathroom. I could quickly see a teenager sitting in the shower for hours while I huddled waiting for her....I will gladly pay for my daily 6min hot shower. Yeap - nice and hot... Every campsite had running water and electricity, so you are definitely not roughing it too much. We paid $39 a tent/night. But their website explains the costs if you are not on a group site or want to be right on the water. But I'd pay the extra for the lake site every time. Located near Hayward, WI - we ventured in for an hour and realized we would rather enjoy the campgrounds than walk through one more touristy tee-shirt shop. Definitely would go back....

Absolutely beautiful. Felt like we were on a National Geographic adventure. Numerous birds: loons, woodpeckers, eagles, geese, and frogs all can be heard throughout the day. We chose a beach site $51 a night, $41 for non beach. When we arrived they gave us a map of available spaces and the keys to a golf cart and told us to pick a site. Wow, we sure appreciated leaving our RV at the entrance while we explored the very large campground. The Landing (restaurant/bar) is within walking distance. The lodge makes their own waffle cones and they are delish filled with ice cream. A yummy treat. Our site was very secluded and peaceful, grassy, trees and shoreline. Rent a pontoon boat and explore the flowage - well worth the cost of $90 for four hours. Love this place.

It's kept very clean and they recently redid the path leading up to the lodge, so it looks very nice.

Located in the Northwoods of northern Wisconsin, the park's highlight is the Doughboy Trail, a well-developed two-mile loop that offers excellent views of both Copper Falls and Brownstone Falls. The trail is easy to follow, well-maintained, and includes several scenic overlooks. Because of its distance--several hours from cities like Madison--I recommend combining a visit with other Northwoods attractions. A great option is to stop here while exploring the Apostle Islands or the Bayfield area. Once inside the park, follow the main road past the ranger station until it ends at the parking lot, where you'll find restrooms and the Doughboy Trailhead. This is a beautiful park and well worth the stop, especially if you plan it alongside other northern Wisconsin adventures.

We were able to park easily and walk a short, fairly easy loop to reach the falls. The view of the waterfall was beautiful, though the trail itself isn't very shaded. Thankfully, the weather was mild during our visit, which made for a pleasant stop. Parking was plentiful, and the park overall felt accessible and well maintained. A worthwhile stop for an hour or so if you're exploring northern Wisconsin.
