Since being here we have stayed several different places in South Bend, Elkhart, and Nappanee. Most shops give you the option of staying the nights in your rig but my bride isn't a fan of the 5:30am wake up knock. This house is by far the most comfortable, "home feeling" place we have been since we arrived here. We are staying in the the Coppes Suite and the room is spacious and clean. The bed and linens are very comfortable. We have slept very well. It's like sleeping at grandmothers house according to my wife. My wife has throughly enjoyed the huge bath tub, while I admit the hand shower has taken some getting used too for me. If you have trouble getting in and out of a tub, I would request different suite. Let's not forget the breakfast!! Yummy! Day one: Ham and egg cups, cheesy hash browns that would make Cracker Barrel jealous, toast with fresh strawberry jam, and a yogurt parfait. Day two: red pepper and cheddar cheese (local) omelette, roasted fingering potatoes, toast and a home made cinnamon roll! If you appreciate the classic architecture of a home built by community leaders from the mid 1800's. You will enjoy this place. If you are looking for glitz, there are several chains in Elkhart to stay at. Emily and Kenton are the most gracious hosts... Ps. The room had a smart tv so we could watch "our" Netflix and Hulu. Huge plus for us.

The staff here are very helpful and I got checked in with no issue - the place is undergoing a major renovation and the whole lobby and common area, pool and spa were torn apart. I was on the third floor and everything up there also smelled brand new so that was nice to see. Rooms were comfortable and clean - the bed was cozy and the hot water was hot. Wifi worked well, and about the only oddball thing was the direct TV system did not quite align with the TV remote controls- so not sure what happened there but it was a bit of work to get the TV to work and find a channel They offer free breakfast and as the main lobby and kitchen area were under construction, they set up shop in a small room off to the side. It got the job done. All in all a good stay and would use again. Plenty of parking around the place.

I really enjoyed speaking to the lovely young lady at the front desk when I checked in late after my flight got delayed. There is a McDonald's across the street that was open in the middle of the night, so at least there is some food available nearby. In the morning, I had yummy hot breakfast downstairs and the area was well stocked and clean. I enjoyed my room and felt it was very clean, especially the bathroom, and had a nice stay while I was there. The only negative was the elevator wasn't working and I had to walk up the steps. But the steps are wide and short so it wasn't that bad, honestly. Plus since I was on the second floor, I didn't hear any noise of people over me either. If I was in the area again, I would likely go back.

Plus no coffee and lukewarm steam table offerings. Oats were clamy and clumpy. YUCK for free. The elevator has some strange potential hostage trapping issues. We kept using the musty stairwell. No swimming at this time. They love to price gouge when events are in town. We were in a room for four and allowed two towels. Next day being told washing area had broken machine and no wash cloths. Points can make use make choices we normally would not...because a much nicer new place is down the road. We were so lucky to be given the view of stucco wall and no ability to allow light in.

Usually I'm a tough nut to crack, but I was pleasantly surprised by my stay here!…read more I arrived late the evening of 3/29, close to midnight. There was no one at the front desk, but a sign that said "Assisting other customers". I didnt mind waiting, as it was super late and I realize the staff is probably minimal at that time. After a few minutes, a middle aged man with glasses emerged from down one of the halls to help me. He was very polite and helpful, answered all of my questions before handing me my room keys and bidding me farewell. I walked outside to gather my belongings, and I entered through the east door using my card with no problem. However when I got to my room, the keys I was given didn't work. I walked back down the hall to the front desk man again, who was quick to apologize and get me two keys which worked. Due to my last minute reservation and a full house, the only room that was available to me was a double queen handicap, Room 109. Walking in, my first thought was WOW! The room was beautiful and spacious, the decor comfortable and warm. There is a Keurig machine for your convenience w/ coffee cups provided, stacked atop a microwave and mini fridge. All amenities I wasn't expecting, as other hotels have led me to believe that having all three at once is just a mere fairytale. The beds were soft and very comfortable. I prefer a soft mattress as opposed to a firmer one, this bed reminded me of my own at home. Coupled with clean linens, its SLEEP FOR THE WIN! The bathroom was large and clean, I thought it was a nice touch adding Bath & Body Works brand products to their bathrooms. On my sink was a small shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, how nice! The water from the pipes ran piping hot to my preference. The only problem was the walk-in shower, which was a feature of our handicapped queen room. The design is flawed so in that water splashes all over the floor, making a wet puddly mess inevitable. We put towels down prior to our showers and by the time we finished all floor towels were completely saturated. Not a deal breaker for me, but I don't necessarily think it's safe for an older person as they could slip easily and fall. This morning I made my way down to the free continental breakfast, and boy were my expectations blown away! Not only did they have a great selection, but the food was actually GOOD (who would have thought I'd ever be saying that about hotel food?!). They had a DIY pancake station right next to piping hot Cinnabons, a DIY oatmeal station, both pork & Turkey sausage, biscuits & gravy, mini omelets, scrambled eggs. They had a toaster you could use to toast your bagels, muffins and (of course) toast. Three different kinds of cereals and cold Chobani yogurts. My only disappointment was the juice machine, whose contents were merely water by the time I came down to breakfast. I opted for the cranberry, it must've been the least favorite choice as it was all that was left. Lucky for me I'm a cranberry kinda gal! Housekeeping has been very helpful and attentive, I asked for more towels (bathroom mess) and was given a generous stack promptly with a friendly smile. All in all, I would definitely rest my head here again. The staff was overall very friendly and the amenities were top notch. I felt at home here, which I something I dont think I could say had I of stayed anywhere else. Thanks Holiday Inn Express! B)

We thought we had paid for an included breakfast, but the hotel had a restaurant where you must pay for each menu item separately. I also did not feel that housekeeping did a thorough job. We also did not like the half door on the shower, as it allowed water to spray all over the bathroom. The service here was fine, but I was expecting a little more.

They held an open house and I remember viewing a hot tub suite they had at the time! This is what a hotel was supposed to be in my mind. The room I got was your standard room but with a place named courtyard with a gigantic courtyard and a room with the view of it I expected more than a single pane window looking out onto it! The lady who checked me in was helpful and friendly during my stay right before Christmas. The pool is one of the neatest features of this hotel as it is both indoor and outdoor and connects. During the summer you can swim freely inside and out! in the same pool! I reccoment staying here but upgrade your room so you get a full view and the hot tub rooms are the best!

If you can deal with the slow response time for maintenance and slow bathtub drains / toilets then…read moreits not a bad value for itinerant / traveling workers/ nurses. I'm going to give ALL the pros and cons because if I'm going to tell it I will tell it ALL. Good value for the rate of 300.00/weekly or 1200.00 monthly since utilities, full kitchen, bathroom, and WiFi are included along with some dishes and kitchen ware. I do like the Hammock and the Gazebo in the summertime Pros! Indoor pool--not operating now--‍ --if I didn't swim somewhere else--it might be a plus; but seasonal. It is more spacious than what you will get with most lodging hotels at the price and that is also a plus. And it is always a good thing that at least there are NO bedbugs. I can say that much for now. Always glad of that. That being said we all know there's no such thing as perfect. (You win some and you lose some. ) Cons! Currently dealing with a RODENT infestation. I didn't bring any with me so I don't want to take any back to my permanent home. The place is out in rural area but still doesn't explain why there are rodents when there is a cat kept next door in the shed/ cottage. I think that if you don't mind staying on top of the Inn Keeper's head to keep him focused then you may not have any problems or take issues that I did. I suspect things may also go differently for you if you are a male type guest instead of female in this cottage back here. I don't like to bother people and I don't want to be or expect to bothered myself! That is part of why I THOUGHT I was paying the money that I do for the stay back here. Not w/o hassle. I'm sure if Inn Keeper prioritized prompt upkeep and address of maintenance issues the same way he seemed prioritize asking about when and where I would be w/o clothes next or 'when I was going to Sunny Haven next' --his own words-- it wouldn't be now since July that lock on front door has still to be fixed, or these critter bugs and cobwebs removed from the corners of ceiling, and now rat problem, and slow toilets and tub drains fixed. With that said I really think that InnKeep could use some extra help around the property truthfully and that is the issue. One person trying to manage all this by themselves. I hope Host gets that resolved soon for this business which is otherwise/aside from current issues, a great place to stay / good value for pricing. I get the impression that degree of helpfulness is somewhat reflective of / varies according to InnKeep's hopefulness or expectations of friendliness / familiarity on part of the guest. Like I said I payed the 1200.00 monthly to have a place to stay when not at work or traveling somewhere else and especially NOT to be bothered. That's my one job. I expect Host to do his. Cash the checks that I give him and keep the place operational and repairs if needed promptly. SMH Dude called at 2130 while I was in the bed last night about the repair for the bathtub drain which I told him I would Yelp about if it was not done by days end. Really!?! So he said he got busy with ..... I stopped listening after that but he did agree to come out and fix it after he got off work today. Bankers/Postal hours should equal sometime after 1700 or 1800. We will see if word is made good on. But I like to be good on my word.... Soooo...... I guess I've got to blast it off like I said I would do. There's so much more I could say but this is getting long and I will just leave Readers / Reviewers with the pictures I have.
