True story! Was on a very long road trip with my brother headed back to California (1200 miles in one day) due to a family emergency and driving highway 97 in Oregon, had left Spokane early in the morning and had about 340ish miles already on the road and was in need of coffee. My brother, who is not a coffee drinker could give 2 flying figs about my need for coffee. We were in the middle of no where and he said if you can find a coffee stop along this highway right now I will stop and I quickly pulled out my yelp app to see what we had and prayed to the coffee gawds that I had signal and that coffee could be found. You know what I found? THE HUMAN BEAN!!! OMG it was like it was heaven sent to me! I love my Human Bean in Tempe, told the bro it was less than a mile away and right next to the highway and off we went. We went through the drive thur and he was itching about the line, but I didn't even care I was within inches of getting coffee from The Human Bean in the middle of nowhere! First time here at the human bean. Service was fast! A guy took my order on 8/30/25 around 3:30 pm and he was super friendly. He was patient as I asked for a minute to look at the menu. I ordered a caramel granita with oat milk. delicious!!! I loved how much caramel they actually put. Supper irritating I specifically asked for decaf as I have a heart condition. This is not decaf. I also asked for a 20oz. And then asked her again to verify that it was going to be a 20oz not a 24oz. She assured me that it was "20oz" This is definitely a 24oz iced coffee. I spent $8 on it and now I can't drink it due to not being decaf & also tasting terrible as the extra 4oz of milk and extra flavor throws the drink off. After working in coffee for over 5 years this isn't customer service. People have reasons for asking for certain things. read more

I been coming here every once in a while but now I'm not coming again due to the service. unfortunately I have experienced rude and terrible customer service from one of the workers mainly. I don't know her name but she's a heavy set Latina, at least mid 20's that is snappy and rude. Even after I had to deal with her sass the drink comes back like shit. If shes taking your order do yourself a favor and ask for one of the other employees and hopefully your experience will be better then mine. read more

The hours say open until 9pm. We pulled up at 7:55 and there was one car in front of us. At 7:59 one of the employees came to our window and told us to go to the other window to order because they close in 60 seconds. We pulled around to the other window and they just said "we're closed" and closed the window on us. Why tell us to go to the other window then tell us you're closed? Very rude. read more

I love that their coffee actually taste like coffee and not just an overly sweet drink with no coffee. I love the Java Chip granita and the frozen Granita is bomb when you add a flavor to it. Overall, the Human Bean itself and the coffee they use is great! The baristas on the other hand are not inviting at all. 90% of the time I've been there, they take your order and continue to talk shit about people with their coworkers. They don't ask how you are and how your day is. It goes- take your order, they act like your an inconvenience, make your drink, hand you your drink, and you leave. I am not trying/expecting to roll up to a Dutch Bros with their happy-go-lucky attitudes but the baristas lack customer service skills completely.
