Sometimes, when you're on vacation, you're walking a new city and want something simple to eat that is not going to take two hours and cost two or three times what you want to spend. This was my first time at this location but my second time ever eating at Huggy's! My family lives in Belgium and they took my sister and I for dinner here. First, I love the atmosphere, the ambiance and the feel is very modern. Their burgers were perfect and so tasty! I love that on the menu they pair a beer to go with the meal, very fun. Lastly, the staff knew that my sister and I were from the USA and they were very accommodating and even gave us complimentary shots of sweet alcohol at the end of our meal! Overrated First of all, the burger. It was good not great. I got a "Chimay Burger", which had Chimay cheese, bacon, special sauce, and pickles. As my wife pointed out, it was more bun than burger. And the meat was pretty under-seasoned. A lot of other little things added up to piss me off: * At first I was excited that when we ordered sparkling water, they gave it to us on tap. But it turned out they charged 3.50 EUR per glass - for basically Soda Stream water. If that was supposed to be for all you can drink, maybe that's an okay deal? But they never offered to refill our glass once. So at 14 EUR for sparkling water for the table, that was a shitty deal. * The fries were also "a volonte", but they were the substandard steak-frite variety, fairly limp, and much worse than you should expect from a Belgian place. * My kid ordered a Chicken burger - and we asked for it specifically with bacon ONLY. When it arrived, it had cheese, mayo, lettuce, and tomato. Some of those things you can take off, but some you can't. If it were me, I would have sucked it up, but kids are different, and my 9-year-old, bless him, is a really picky eater. Not sure where the disconnect was, with the service or the kitchen, but kind of a shitty deal at 11.50 EUR. The total bill was about 70 EUR for lunch for 4, which is too high for burgers for lunch. You walk in and you feel like you are back in an American sports bar with all the TVs on different sports networks from around the world. (Yes they have ESPN). Aside from everyone speaking French it is as American as it gets. The burgers are really good. They cook the meat just right and it's not raw in the least bit. I had the Truffle Cheeseburger and it was incredible. It comes with frites (Belgian fries) which were great (Liège has good fries anywhere though). The only drawback from my meal was the chocolate shake I got. It was nothing like what you can get it the states, honestly it was a bit warm for being a milkshake. But the best part of the meal was that they have Dr. Pepper!!! I'm from Texas so this is kinda a big deal. Anyways will be going back for sure! read more

Undeniably the best place to have a burger in Liege. The Huggy's in the city center is a fairly small restaurant but still manages to sit a good 50 people I'd say. They also recently announced that they were opening two more restaurants in the region, so watch out for them! The burger list is just...massive, and constantly evolving, with new burgers being added, and special flavours for you to discover, international burgers, and more local ones (Le Belge, Burger du terroir, Burger Liegeois a la Curtius). To die for. I particularly love the pain bagnat that almost all burgers come in...soft and crispy at the same time, which I find perfect as I am not a fan of soggy-flappy burger breads. I was there a while back, because I don't live in Liege anymore, so I cannot remember which burger I had: knowing myself: most likely a cheeseburger with extra bacon. And it was delicious! The fries that came with were gorgeous as well, and you can get a free refill. Of course, we topped the whole thing with a local beer sold there, the Curtius, which is also very nice (no Belgian beer is bad, it's a matter of taste :)) Staff is extremely friendly, probably even more so when the owners are your friends from uni and that you know the waiters, but still :) Finally, although the place definitely calls for a fairly young type of clients, it's absolutely great for a lovely dinner with your parents as well: my Dad loved it and wants to go back every time I'm in town! read more

THE best place to eat a juicy hamburger in Liège. You get a first taste of US when you enter the restaurant with all these TV on the walls broadcasting ESPN, Eurosport and other sport channel. I hope they plan to organise Superbowl evenings (or normings!) The range of hamburgers is super large; everyone will be happy. The hamburgers are quite impressive and really tasty. No need to order startes or desert (in my opinion). I also appreciated to drink a Bud. I just regret the noise (depending on the clients) due to the smallness of the restaurant.
