The staff are incredibly warm and attentive. Izzy and I got to chatting about Harry Styles when she noticed my earrings right from the beginning of our dinner service, got our drinks and appetizer started right away, and kept the flow of clean up and delivery moving without making us feel rushed. She also took our picture for us (I came with my dad) at the end of the night and got great shots that both captured us and the restaurant's decor. For appetizer, we had the squid pro quo - this is one of the best calamari dishes I've ever had. They were lightly battered and perfectly crispy without overcooking the squid, but the best part was the sauce that was drizzled over. It reminded me of a sweet Thai chili sauce and gave the dish a non-traditional tang, which sent me over the moon. Our drinks came out shortly after - I had the Pandamonium, which tasted like more of a dessert cocktail (honeydew boba tea kind of), and my dad had the Tiger's Milk, which was equal in flavor but less sweet. He said the licor 43 is what really elevated the cocktail. Then came the food: I had the Root Salad and made it feral (added chicken), Dad had the Braise the Bar special. Our portion sizes appeared quite different, but given the richness of the braised short ribs over the mashed potatoes, it made sense. I loved the balance of fresh and savory with the arugula and beets against the grilled meat so much that I'm inspired to try and recreate this at home for when I can't make it all the way out to SLO. I think the short rib dish could have a little more sauce - it was rich, but a bit dry; and the single shishito pepper kind of made chuckle as it seemed a bit out of place, as there were no other greens on that plate. One of my absolute favorites. The Oaxacan is tequila based with smoky spicy notes from the Thai chili and mezcal. I am surprised with how much I like this because I don't usually get tequila over gin, but I've caught myself getting this a few times! The bartenders are amazing here and the drinks are strong with no alcohol taste ahhh so definitely expect a fun night with their cocktails haha! Fortunately, since this was market, there were plenty of seating in the common area. The breakfast burrito was $11 and the Sando I think was $12? If you dine in, they will give you a # and will bring the food to you, even if you sit in the common area, which is nice service. The burrito just came as it, no other trimming, except for the salsa whereas the sando included potatoes. if you look at the picture, they need to add more to the plate with Sando. Even with potatoes, the plate seems empty. They were both tasty, the burrito was fair size. However, mine was seems just stuffed with eggs, it wasn't until the end that I manage to get to some potatoes and meat. There should be less eggs and more of the other fillings.
