The studio is immaculate. My tattoo artist is Ben, and I have to say he rocked my tattoo. I had a concept and a picture, he expounded on it magnanimously. His creativity, detail, technique, knowledge and overall artistry is just straight up amazing. He care's about his work, and his clients. I had no idea of how awesome and detailed my tattoo would be. Ben's not done with it yet but I dig it already, and can't wait for the finished piece so I can move on to the next... I'm picky, detailed oriented, and particular when it comes to getting what I want...I got way more than what I expected. No need for you to go to any other studio, the jaunt is worth it. It's been years since I've gotten a tattoo, and I have to admit I did very little research on this place before coming (my tattoo was my sisters gift so she actually looked it up). I immediately got a good vibe when I went in for my consultation and when I met Carson. I put my deposit down and set my appointment. Today I got my gorgeous tattoo! After writing my original review in 2014, I went in a couple months after finishing my bird tattoo with Ben--I asked what their policy/pricing was when it came to touching up tattoos (needed my other rib cage tattoo touched up a tiny bit). Before getting my answer, Ben interrupted and said "if you have something negative to say, say it to me. Do not go here! I went in & was quoted $300. Which I thought was a bit high because my tattoo had no color and was going to be small. I also had a very similar one that had only cost $80. Anyways, I sat down & talked to the tattoo artist who was very unprofessional and basically told me the tattoo I wanted wasn't possible. He wanted to add a bunch of things to it and create motion. He wasn't listening to what I said I wanted. He also was eating Cheetos & licking his fingers while touching instruments. My consultation appt. was also 2 hours behind schedule. They have no concept of time management. I went elsewhere & had the tattoo done for $80. In a much cleaner, professional environment. I would NEVER get a tattoo at House of Tattoo. read more

I am now working with him on a second piece and he is very open to hearing my input and what I'm wanting as well as letting me know his opinions on what works well in this particular artistic medium. Yes they are busy, if they had openings all the time I'd be worried. Yes they cost more than some places, but you get what you pay for. You get clean equipment, safe and sanitary environment, intelligent and knowledgeable artists. I visited House of Tattoo for the first time today and was a bit caught off guard with my experience. I have seen a LOT of great work come out of this shop and was excited to inquire about my first tattoo. While standing in the lobby area I hear the guy (I later learn that this is Ben) talking to a young lady and calling her out in front of other clients about a review she left on this site. He was telling her that her review was unprofessional...I found his conversation to be EXTREMELY unprofessional and very off-putting. Their lobby is fairly small and there were 4 or 5 us in there waiting so we all could hear the conversation and it made for a very uncomfortable environment, in my opinion. She said that she liked his work but twice she has had issues with their scheduling and them having to re-schedule. Her only complaint was their "time management" and that she had never complained about his work. Yelp is a site for reviewing your experience, correct? I found her review and I didn't think it was that bad, she stated what she experienced...so for that reason, I think he was in the wrong for making a scene about it. I'll find another place to take my virgin skin, this wasn't the environment I was looking for. I gave him two stars because the work he has done is definitely some of the best I have seen but he shouldn't treat people like that for being honest. He should have done what he could do to make a customer happy and maybe talk to her about revising her review if he was unhappy about it. read more

Two years later, I came back because my initial experience was positive. However, this time Ben used his condescending tone with me. WHAT???? No thank you. Cannot thank this shop enough for their kindness and gentility for a very difficult time in my life. I had gone to one other shop in Gresham at a time of grieving and loss looking for a memorial piece, and they did not give me anywhere near the welcoming atmosphere that The House of Tattoo offers. The woman that did my artwork was so kind, and expressed her deepest genuine connection to my loss. She made sure to give me exactly what I wanted, and executed it with great skill. This was my first time in the house of tattoo, I came in to get a cover-up done on my chest. Miles and Carson were both very helpful and worked with me to draw up My tattoo. They were very friendly and listened to what I had to say and took it into consideration to get the results I wanted. They both are great artists. Megan was very helpful as well. The tattoo came out great. I was told to come in and see Miles by a friend of mine who had gotten tattooed there last summer. The work was good and the experience was a plus. I would definitely go back. We will see how this tattoo heals up. Oh, and it came out under budget which is always nice. read more

I read some of the reviews here and am a bit surprised. First of all, have these people gone to other tattoo salons? House of Tattoo in my opinion is much better at time management than ANY tattoo shop I have ever been to [and I have been to a few :-) ] . Either way, there is no mistaking that House of Tattoo provides the highest quality body artwork. Since tattoos are permanent I would wait an hour any day to get a tattoo here than risk getting a mediocre tattoo elsewhere!! read more

I saw their pictures from the works they have done and great feedbacks on facebook, so I gave it a try and called them on Friday to see if I can walk in and give them my ideas of my tats. The receptionist was friendly and said to come in another time due to busy with other client, so they made an appointment for me for the next week at 8pm on Saturday. I waited a week after and it was nice that they called a few times during the week to remind me of the appointment. Then I got a call 1 an half hours prior to my appointment when I'm already in town and was ask if I can come in earlier than 8pm as possible because the guy Carson who was gonna be my consultant had to leave early (I have other things to do you know. I made time for the appointment, no matter what I'm gonna be there at 8pm, the house of tattoo should do the same. We are customers) I was like what the heck and felt like being rushed by them. An appointment is an appointment. I came all the way up from Salem to get a consultation and was looking forward to it. If they can't have time for a consultation and wanna rush that's a bad sign doing business. We need time for consultation and tattoo work. I DO NOT want any person to do tattoos on my body if they rush me. It is not a game, it is a permanent tattoos that will be forever on your skin!! They should always have time for the customers, except an Emergency and they need to say so if there is. So yes I cancelled the appointment and then they said you can come in at 8pm..Like seriously?? Playing around with customers who are serious about tattoos. I would not recommend this place and don't believe all the great feedbacks on Facebook. Yes I was hopeful with the house of tattoos even with the bad feedbacks on Yelp, but not anymore. Be serious, have time for customers, stay overtime if you need to, need to open earlier than 12 noon, be PROFESSIONAL and stick with what you say and do. read more

The best experience ever ! BEN did my tattoo, it is a tribute Piece / freedom piece for my Daddy. I took in photos and told him about my father and how big of space I wanted it in, Ben is an artist people he tells you the truth when you ask... So he was very honest and told me that what I wanted could not be done in that amount of space.he showed me what he needed for what I wanted ,I trusted him he is the artist. When I went in for my first session he showed me what he had drawn, it brought tears to my eyes he listened to every word I said he must have felt what I felt and put it all on paper I could never imagine what he drew. It was a three piece process. Ben was my therapist and my artist.Each time he stopped in a perfect place and made it like it was( The tattoo.)On my last visit when he was done I saw the most beautiful tattoo. I saw everything about my father, what he was what he stood for and I saw him released in to beautiful flight. I had been to House of Tattoo years ago for my first tattoo, it was done by Ben, and i love it as much today as i did the day it was done. If you follow his aftercare instructions (even if you think they are over kill) it WORKS! the colors are still vibrant and I have not needed a touch up in 7 (so far) years. I have returned to Ben for my second tattoo, and I am just finished with my first sitting for a large back piece, and I cant stop looking at it! It is EXACTLY what I wanted. Ben is an artist, and if you put your faith in his creativity you will not be disappointed. The comments that have been made about the lack of professionalism could not be further from the truth. It IS a tattoo studio, so if you go in expecting church mouths and the spa treatment you will be disappointed. However, they are polite, funny, creative, and into what they do. He is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN, and stresses cleanliness and aftercare. If you think they are expensive, remember you get what you pay for and this is YOUR BODY, and an investment. I went in to my consultation with several ideas, and asked him which one he was in to.
