Clean Worx Environmental - debris used to weigh down the vapor barrier

Let me start by saying the Radon system works, we are below EPA limits. The product is fine, the…read moreinstallation and customer service is where all the issues were. My first issue, the estimate I signed said cracks in the basement floor would've filled. Instead the technician left me two tubes of silicone and told me "you probably want to fill anything you can see depth into". I paid $1045, the guy was here for 2.5 hours. I expected him to fulfill the estimate. My second issue came when I went to review the work before the technician departed. The siding he cut a hole in was bowed out from the side of the house. I had to point out the issue, encourage the fix. It took us about 15 minutes to get the pipe in the attic placed so it didn't hold my siding off the side of the house. I'd expect after you cut a hole in the side of the house, you at least go out and look once the install is complete. The issue could have been resolved if the technician had a ladder tall enough to push the siding back in, but he didn't. The technician also left a bunch of dirt, insulation, and a huge mess on the carpet of our closet. For $1045 for 2.5 hours, I'd expect you to have a vacuum with you. Dude also forgot the label and the info that certified he installed the system. I have a home inspection for the sale of our home in 3 days. The inspector is going to want to know it was installed by a professional. He had to come back to put the label on. The last and most egregious of the issues. The technician's van left a dozen or more oil stains in my driveway. If it was one small spot, sure, leak started recently, he didn't know. But a dozen? That's been leaking a while, park your car on the street when you're at a customers house. Super unprofessional and careless. Photo attached of the oil stains. The driveway is a year and a half old. This is now the only imperfection on it.

We hired Cleanworx a few months ago to complete several critical jobs in our newly purchased home:…read moreinstalling a vapor barrier, a sump pump, mold remediation, and a radon mitigation system. I have never felt more ripped off by a company -- ever. In hopes the same doesn't happen to others, I finally decided to write a review. We chose Cleanworx based on their website, the services they advertised, and the strong reviews. It seemed like a solid choice. They claimed to do all the work we needed. Turns out, that was not the case. Don't be fooled by the polished website -- it does not reflect the quality or reliability of their service. The biggest issue was the so-called "vapor barrier installation." I was charged $885 for what amounted to little more than thin black plastic tossed haphazardly in the crawlspace. It didn't fully cover the ground. It didn't go up the walls. It didn't reach the edges. It barely overlapped, and entire sections -- including the entrance area -- were left exposed (see photos). There were gaps everywhere, dirt and gravel still fully visible. It was as unprofessional and careless a job as you can imagine. After raising our concerns, my husband spoke with the owner, who agreed to refund half the cost. But that's still shocking -- why should I pay anything for a job that was incomplete and not even remotely up to standard? Even worse, within a week, we had standing water pooling on top of the plastic. So not only was the vapor barrier not installed correctly -- it completely failed at its core purpose. And considering we also paid for mold remediation, this undermines the entire process. What's the point of treating for mold if you leave the area exposed to continued moisture? To make matters worse, I was charged a separate fee for "debris removal." Instead of removing it, they used the debris to weigh down the plastic barrier. Seriously? Since then, I've had multiple other companies come out to assess the work. Every single one of them called it laughable, poorly done, and said I should have received a full refund -- at minimum. They all pointed out that without a properly sealed vapor barrier, the mold remediation is essentially pointless. Communication with Cleanworx was also frustrating. It took multiple emails and phone calls just to get the partial refund. When we first booked the appointment, we were told that the owner, Dustin, would be doing the work himself. He later admitted he didn't -- and blamed the poor job on one of his workers. But if that's the case, shouldn't your employees meet the same standard of work as you claim to hold? Why are customers expected to pay full price for a half-done, substandard job simply because the owner wasn't the one doing it? Bottom line: the photos on the website are not reflective of the actual service. The vapor barrier was a total failure. The mold remediation was compromised. The debris was not removed. Communication was difficult. And the refund was partial, when a full one was warranted. To be fair, the radon system and sump pump seem to be working fine. But in my view, that doesn't excuse the rest. Be cautious before hiring this company. I wouldn't trust them again. I have photos on my google review if you'd like to see the kind of work they do.

They responded to my message in a timely manner, answered all my questions and they weren't pushy about getting their services. I have a new build so when it was finally time to hire an inspector I decided to go with MC2. So glad I did. They were reasonable and the inspection took about 3 hours. It was a smooth process and Greg, my inspector, was awesome. He was VERY picky (which I love) and he pointed out things that I wouldn't have seen. Please do NOT purchase a home without getting your own inspection done (IMO). Greg was very professional, he came in with footies and he had the report done later that night filled the pictures, notes and suggestions. It was definitely useful when I did my walkthrough with the contractor. Building a new home is already stressful but MC2 made it a little easier. Thank you for all your help, it's appreciated.

I called to schedule the inspection the day before Thanksgiving and Mike answered right away and told me they had availability the Friday after Thanksgiving (quick turnaround!). Mike also encouraged me to attend the inspection since I could ask any question I wanted and really get to know the new home I was purchasing. Jeremy was such a wonderful inspector. I almost consider him more of a consultant than an inspector! He knew SO much about everything in the home and gave me recommendations about everything I was unsure of. I received a detailed report with pictures of the home the same day. I cannot recommend MC2 enough, thank you for such a wonderful experience!
