Home Depot was created by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank in 1978. The first stores opened in Atlanta in 1979. The concept of the store was to offer a wide selection of hardware products while employing highly trained sales associates who could teach customers how to complete home improvement projects, such as laying tile or using power tools. The company also offered clinics and workshops to teach customers how to use its products. Home Depot has since grown to more than 2,200 stores across three countries. It's amazing how far Home Depot has come from its original concept. I have been spending a fair amount of time at Home Depot lately as we work on some home refresh projects. Our latest project involves replacing the fascia boards on the front of the house. Much of the wood we looked at had cracks in it. We carefully examined every piece in the store, yet we still have to go back and replace one of the boards because we noticed another crack once we saw it in the sunlight. You have to be careful when buying wood here since every piece varies in quality. They do cut it to size for you, which is helpful. I also appreciate the self-checkout because the lines are never long. What makes this Home Depot different from every other one? It is close to I-95, and the Sabrett hot dog and sausage cart out front is always a welcome treat. read more

Home is supposed to be a comfort zone. At times, that comfort can be disrupted by the intrusion of pests: houseflies, different species of ants and spiders, termites, mice, unidentifiable pests, lizards, and the most annoying pest of them all-- roaches. Oh, I've seen them in all sizes, but the ones that fly freak me out the most. Home Depot has a wide selection of insecticide brands for indoor and outdoor use for target pest(s). Prices vary by application: home barriers, baits and traps, foggers, and concentrated sprays. I made a brief visit to purchase a can of Raid Ant & Roach spray, which I have used for years and it doesn't disappoint. The spray kills on contact, leaving a residue that lasts for weeks. read more

We were on a road trip to Pompano Beach and saw Home Depot and their garden center, so we stopped in. Our balcony could use a few flowers and maybe a mini palm tree. The sun is harsh on our balcony during the day and burns up the leaves. We looked around at their selection, which was good but not exactly what we were looking for. Their prices were reasonable, and the plants were being taken care of, unlike some other nurseries. We didn't stay long enough to require a salesperson. He was busy with another customer. read more

I HAD to buy a refrigerator and an oven, so I went to this Home Depot ready to buy. The associate who assisted me was rude. The two appliances I picked were a good price; however, because she was rude and dismissive, I left and went to Brands Mart USA to make my purchase. Her customer service was bad. read more

I like to go to Home Depot for their large selection of cleaning products...you can get some really good concentrated products here that will last you for a long long time. The unit prices vary by the brand, so depending on what you want and what price you want to pay for, you will have some choices. I found the store very typical. Large aisles, well stocked, all prices nicely labelled. I love using the self checkout lanes. Easy. read more

Hats off to Jeanne Ward who works in the Pompano beach Florida Home Depot. I had a big job to handle in the morning and my online order did not let me know that what I ordered was not at my pompano store. Jeanne Ward called me back and said she will pick up what I need at the other store and bring it to work by seven. I got there on time and so was Jeanne with my order. Not only that but she was not scheduled to the afternoon. Thanks again Jeanne Ward !!!! Amazing. Thanks Jeff read more

Went to that store on west Copans to get paint. The young lady in the paint department, Shakira, was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable for somebody so young and you just started working there recently. She was helpful, considerate, gave me exactly what I needed, and I left very very happy with my experience of shopping there. The young lady at the register, Jemicka (?)was also very nice. I just moved in the area and definitely intend to go back to that "Home Depot" for all my needs because of that staff read more

Organized and laid out similarly to other THD's, Dad knew exactly what he wanted and we found it in the right places. It was helpful that there's a "template" in the nuts and bolts area where we could test the widget and measure it to the right size. One thing we wanted is no longer being sold anywhere. We even reached out to the manufacturer and they don't make it anymore - a 6 inch shelf bracket. So we're still hunting around for those. The store has a firm mask requirement for all patrons and staff. [Review 13678 overall, 997 of 2020, number 1091 in Florida.] read more

This is a pretty good Home Depot. It's well stocked and all the associates we came in contact with -- there were a lot in the aisles -- were very helpful. Each time we had a problem locating an item and asked where it was, we got the correct answer. One time we were even escorted directly to the location. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but we've been to other stores where we've walked all over aimlessly when being sent to the wrong aisles. Each aisle is numbered and that helps as well. The store has instituted some actions in light of covid19. They limit the number of people entering the store. They actually had a counter as you enter. There is only one entrance. You can only exit from the garden department not enter. They have the floor marked for physical distancing as you check out as well. Almost everyone was masked and gloved too. We were able to get everything on our list that we'd come for -- surprisingly. And checkout was pretty seamless as well. read more

I've been going to this location for awhile now, most of the time they have what I'm looking for in stock, but recently I had the most awesome experience. I've been doing some small DIY plumbing projects on my home and had to run the water line to my refrigerator, unfortunately when the build was built the plumbers reversed the set up for my water line under my sink, I decided to finally tackle this project and figured I can handle this on my own, after two days of back and forth to the store to get the right size and fitting I met Andrea! With a smile on her face she offered her assistance in finding what I was looking for, Andrea suggested a fix but it wasn't quite right since it switched, I explained my predicament to her and without any hesitation she showed me what I would need and how to make the connections. She was so patient with me and helpful. I was skeptical but she assured me It would work. Came home and the connections were exactly what i needed. Andrea is star at that location and her patience was very strong, I'm surprised she's not a manager, with amazing customer service like that I'll be back again and again. My new go to home Depot location going forward. Thank you Andrea for all you help and patience. You're a true gem! read more

Home Depot Pompano Beach Worst experience and it continues! Took hours to make a purchase of flooring and installation job. Upon returning home, was contacted and advised that the purchase was another $10k. When I returned to cancel and refund the transaction they were not able to refund do to computer issues. Further told that the transaction would not be refunded until they received the order but they would call me the next day for the refund. No one called! One week and several hours later, Home Depot is still not able to refund my $35k purchase. IT department has the department manager on hold. Incompetent and unacceptable! I am at one of the many Home Depot's almost every single day due to the type of work I do daily. This location is a very busy high-volume location located right off the highway. Normally I give Home Depot five stars but this location gets a four star due to the bad parking lot read more

Home Depot is an excellent, well stocked hardware store. You can find most anything you need to repair things around your home. They also carry very high quality tools and various hardware items. The different Home Depots in the area vary considerably as to how helpful the staff is. The store in Pompano is excellent. The staff is great. They help you find whatever it is you're looking for, with a smile. Home Depot sells everything from hammers and nails to washing machines. I was in search of a metal trash can. Home Depot is the only hardware store in town that I could find that carries metal trash cans. I was directed right to them and bought one in just a few minutes at a very cheap price. I was very impressed with Home Depot's customer service this time and almost every time I've been to the store in Pompano. read more

I wanted to buy a metal trash can. I was having a problem finding one. I was on I95 in Pompano when I remembered that there was a Home Depot close by. As soon as I walked into the store a nice salesman welcomed me and asked if he could help me find something. I told him what I needed and he pointed me to the Garden Shop. On my way there another salesman offered to help. I found what I was looking for and brought it to the front of the store. Home Depot matches the prices of other stores if they're cheaper. I brought my trash can to customer service and asked them to check their computer for a better price. The customer service person checked her computer but couldn't find a matching item that was cheaper. It was very nice of her to look for the best price. I paid my bill and was on my way. I'm so impressed with the friendly service I got at the Pompano store. I usually go to the Boca Raton store and it's rare that a salesman offers to help. There's free parking in front. Heading north they're less then a block from the exit on I 95. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. Everything went from bad to worse. Took 5 trips to order blinds. Wrong size arrived. I can accept that. Customer service was atrocious. They kept insisting that their "system" said I was refunded a certain amount. I showed my account balance and they refused to resolve. This has been 8 weeks of headaches with no resolution. Worst customer experience ever. Shop here only if you love headaches. read more

Walking into the store and finding what you need is easy enough. But buying and item and expecting it to be ready when they say it will be, is another story. Home Depot has without fail disappointed me two times in a row. The first time I gave them a week to assemble a grill which they still could not get done. And then a simple tool box for pick up for the next day, I still ended up waiting in the store to watch them take it off the shelf.. must be tuff to get things done over there. Feel sorry for the employees who actually try. read more

In December 20223, I bought a lawnmower at The Home Depot located on West Copans Road in Pompano Beach. That machine broke down last September. Because I needed to cut my yard right away, I bought the same exact machine, again at the same local Home Depot store. Since I bought the mower on my Home Depot credit card, the return deadline on the receipt says that I have a year or until December 2024 to return it. One day last week, I called 1-800 number for the Home Depot and explained the situation; I was told to take it back to the same store so that I could get a refund. The same day, I brought the lawnmower to that store. A woman who's supposedly a manager at the return desk said that because I had bought the machine on my Home Depot card, I had until a year thereafter to return. But, when she tried to process it, their computer denied the return. I then called the police in order to request a police report so that I can document their action in refusing to honor their own policy. In my view, that is a flagrant violation of the law. I waiting for that report before I contact the proper governmental agency to make a complaint against the Home Depot. I will keep you posted! read more

The floor staff and cashiers are fine, but the returns desk is atrocious. I tried to return some LED light bulbs purchased 2 years ago (5 year warranty) and the clerk told me I could only do it in 90 days from purchase, even though I had previously done them after 90 days. She said I had to contact the company directly. I went home to search for the company information, and I found a document on Home Depot's own site that says you can return them to the store within 5 years. Went back to the store, talked to a different returns clerk who wouldn't take them since I only had 7 bad bulbs in the 8-box package. I showed her the document and it does not require a full box return. Argued some more and she eventually relented. You've lost a customer over a $10 box of lights. Go to Lowe's instead. Unfortunately the store is marred by extremely unfriendly and unhelpful staff. It's sad in today's environment that they can't so much as muster a smile or a hello. And throw attitude when you ask them a simple question. The "I don't care I'd rather be anywhere else but here" is unfortunately prevalent in the store. I will give H.D. no stars. I ordered a dryer, the delivery men came, gave me paperwork, stated they could not install it (I paid for install), and went to get the dryer from the truck only to find out it was not in the truck. Could not reach anyone with the number he gave me to get information. Called a 2nd number got put on hold a number of times and was offered compensation for their mistake only after the installation. Everything about this order was a failure from start to finish. The worst part is that I had to pay another nurse to take my shift so that I could be home to take my failed delivery. read more

I wasn't so impressed my last visit. Apparently, all Home Depots (at least in Broward) only have self-checkout stations. They have someone there to take your returns, but not for purchases. I would like the choice of having a person vs. a machine. With that save on personnel, one would think the prices would be more reasonable. However, my friend and I who were there found the prices to be a little high. This store is in a good location, very convenient to I95, and they have a large selection of items. read more

Terrible customer service. I requested someone to come and measure my door. I said "I need ASAP" . They made appointment Friday, but nobody come here, after that I called and (hey, is he coming? The employees at the registers are hotrible with the customers. This one older lady was yelling at me because i was going to self checkout and she wamted me to go to her register but i dont like going to the registers with the employee because they take too long scanning amd sometimes double scan items by mistake, they dont check what they scan after they scan it they just click checkout and continue... so after i told her no thanks ill do it alone at self checkout she continued to yell at me saying to go to her register. It is like they assume everybody is stealing from the store. I never have stolen from any store in my life i work hard for my money so for me, someone who buys from home depot everyday, to be disrespected and profiled as a theaf everyday at this home depot is absolutely innapropriate especially coming from a billion dollar buisness. They called me saying they lost the 5 rigid blowers (a few hundo in value) and can't do anything for me and I'll see my money on 5-7 business days....... Tis the season to shop for a tree. I'm a pretty picky Christmas tree shopper and I always break the rules... That shouldn't surprise anyone... I always look for the nest in the tree which really isn't fair because they say when you find a nest it is good luck looking for one in a tree is kind of good luck but to find it on your own and not look for it is really the way it should be. I came today because I have hemmed and hawed and really have not felt in the Christmas spirit this year. I lost my mom in 2012 and this year it's kind of bothering me not having her with me in fact it hurts a lot because I really love my mom so I dragged my feet until today and broke down and bought a tree. I did get a 7 foot tree because I have vaulted ceilings that are about 10 feet high so I don't want to try to look too small, last year I had an enormous 10 to 11 foot tree that I nearly broke my back on so this year I decided on a 7 foot tree and it's easy to lift, I tried, so I won't be killing myself putting it up or taking it down. My trees price was $36 which is amazing. I went to a different tree farm and their prices were nearly double that for the same tree. I'm not a cheap person and I never will be but I just cannot see spending so much money on something that I'm going to have up for a week or two and take it down and think that I spent a lot of money for just a tree. I wouldn't let the gentleman that was helping me untie my tree because I want to see on my own if the tree has a nest in it(it didnt have a nest BUT it did have some kind of berries in it). My car smells delicious with the scent of pine which is one of my most favorite smells in the entire world I cannot wait to see my tree all decorated for the holidays and even if I'm feeling sad this year because I miss my mom. I guess seeing all of the ornaments that we gave each other throughout the years will make it better, I hope,,, My recommendation,,,buy your tree here, they are fresh, not over priced and there is a good selection of small or large trees to choose from. read more
