People are so busy working within the store. They can't help us. We went to buy flooring prepared to spend close to $8000 and nobody could help us. They were too busy putting rolls of carpet on their stands. When going to customer service she said well it's gonna take some time. I don't know if anybody's here to help you. I absolutely love going to Home Depot. I could spend hours inside of the store looking for things to upgrade my home. While stopping at this location, we were on vacation. We decided that we wanted to go camping. We needed to find some specific items for camping. Once we entered, we were immediately greeted by an employee. They asked if we needed any help finding something. They told us where to go to find the item, and we went on our way. We also decided to buy an axe for some wood, and so we found another team member who directed us to the axes. All of the enployees seemed super helpful, intelligent, and kind. They were knowledgable about the products as well, and helped us decide on the best product to purchase. They were not necessarily trying to only sell us the most expensive brand. The gentleman helping us with the axe actually suggested a much cheaper one for wood cutting. read more

We needed just ONE more part to complete our strange plumbing assemblage. Hubby had not seen the Home Depot, just down the row of stores from Lowe's in the Petoskey mega-mall. A second pair of eyes is useful. We needed a T-shaped hose barb. We were not able to find the part ourselves, until we asked for help, and the man who helped us explained that underground sprinkler parts were getting put away for the year. We got the very last one. Whew! Outta there, and home to complete our project. Oh, and I saw that the next day there is to be a bat house building seminar. The Petoskey Home Depot is the worst retail store I've ever dealt with. My wife and I purchased $7k in flooring from them and were lied to and deceived multiple times throughout the process. Whether it was intentional or just sheer incompetence, this type of customer service is simply not acceptable. First, we purchased the home measurement and ended up having to have our home re-measure three separate times because they missed entire rooms and closets. This added up to around three weeks of delays and the measurements were still incorrect. Once measurements were completed, we had to return to the store on three separate occasions to review the order and correct errors before the order could be placed. Each time we were told that the flooring representative would call us with updates. This never happened. The flooring representative also informed us that we could schedule the install once the order was placed and the flooring would be installed in approximately two weeks. This was a lie. Once the order was placed, we were told that we could not actually schedule the install until the flooring arrived. They stated that it would arrive in about a week and the install would be approximately two weeks after that. This was a lie. The flooring took two weeks to arrive and then we were told that the earliest install they had open was a month and a half away. At this point we considered returning the flooring and going elsewhere, but we were assured numerous times that once the job was finished "we will discuss compensation for all the hassles". After the flooring materials took up our living room for a month and a half, the install was completed. The installers received incorrect information from Home Depot and ended up having to tear out our vinyl floor in the kitchen. Despite the fact that we specifically asked HD about this several times and were told it would be fine to lay the laminate over it. I ended up unnecessarily shaving kitchen cabinets to account for the height difference above our fridge due to this. The installers also put the wrong color quarter round under our cabinets after HD forgot to give them the correct quarter round. Also, one of our closets was left without carpet because the measurements were still not correct after three attempts. Finally, after the install was (kind of) completed, we call the store to discuss the compensation that we were promised on multiple occasions. At this point we were told that we would not be receiving any compensation. After weeks of attempting to contact store managers and HD's corporate office, it has become abundantly clear that they have no intention of discussing the compensation that were were promised. It is unacceptable that companies like this can deceive their customers like this and face zero repercussions for it. If you are searching for a company to meet your home improvement needs, I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere. read more

I purchased flooring on sale and was told my order would be in the following week. 2 weeks later I am told that they can no longer get me the flooring and want to charge me $700 more for a product that is equivalent to what I bought. This is called a BAIT AND SWITCH!!!!! We tried to work with them and place a larger order with other items and asked only to provide us with the original discount and was told no! This is unacceptable and poor customer service. I normally shop lowes but decided to buy from the Home Depot due to the sale. What a mistake that was! read more

Went to the Home Depot in Petoskey today. As we were walking to self checkout an assistant store manager tilted his head down towards me as he walked past and had this horrible and terrifying dead stare. Didn't say hi or anything, just that rude scary stare. Not a minute later he yelled at some kid to get off a cart. I work at a Home Depot, and I have never seen an ASM behave in such a strange toxic manner. He was taller, over 6ft and a little balding. Very offputting. If a minus 1 was available that is where this is at. False advertising to begin with. We ordered our washer for delivery to our location which they said they could. No confirmation from them (they promise confirmation in 5min) after order placed. We called them 5 days later to followup and they said they could not deliver. Just got a note 10 days later our order was cancelled after not being able to get a hold of us? The cancelled order also showed a model $100 over what we selected. Get your act together. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses I ordered blinds to be installed over a month ago. When they were installed one section was broken and needed to be reordered. The local store has been very unresponsive in fixing the problem. Additional the installer's schedule was incorrect. If we had not made several calls to track him down we would still be waiting.
