I placed an order for a 15 x 18" lighted candycane window decoration on December 4. I was immediately sent a confirmation email from the holiday light store. That was the last time I ever heard from them. I have made two attempts to call and leave voicemails with no response. I also emailed them asking when I should expect my item since I never received a follow up email saying that my item has been shipped and when I could expect it. I never received it by Christmas and figured I would give them at least 30 days to ship the item to me. Once 30 days approached I tried calling one last time. And when I went on their website it showed that the business is temporarily closed. I have no idea what's going on but I received absolutely no customer service in regards to this matter and still have not received my order. A store that sells only holiday lights and is off the beaten path in an unusual part of town? And is painted teal green to boot? It does seem a little strange and leaves one to wonder how in the world they are able to survive with competition from big chain stores. We've passed this place for years but in a desperate 3-year search to find the perfect lighted snowman for the yard, I made a special trip to see what they had. Upon entering, I was a bit disappointed to see a small, cramped showroom with only three tall racks packed with boxed lights. I poked around a bit before noticing a darkened area through a door that said "outdoor lights." The management must have noticed my curiosity and flipped a switch. To what did my wondering eyes should appear but a huge room filled from floor to ceiling with tons of outdoor lights. They gleamed and blinked in the most beautiful way... I could nearly hear the heavens singing above me! The owner came over and was most helpful. She walked me around the gigantic room to show their various products and was more than accommodating when I made a few special requests. They carry all sorts of holiday lights, not just Christmas! She made sure each item I purchased was working properly and took the time to plug them all in. She also had one of the storeroom guys help me load my car. Overall, an excellent experience. The prices are a little high, but I was delighted to find quality items that were nowhere to be found in the chain stores. The personal customer service can't be beat. read more

I'm actually in Colorado, but last year our church began a project to do an animated light show. We wanted to do several fun songs, but also tell the Christmas story so began the hunt for large, lit, nativity pieces. The initial discovery was that pieces like this are VERY expensive. After a lot of searching I actually came to the Holiday Light Store's website and online store. The prices were much better than anything else I could find. We were going to be spending a substantial sum so I actually flew to Raleigh to visit the store in person and make sure the pieces were what we needed. It was made easier since my parents live in Raleigh. Everything was exactly what we needed, built well, and very good sizes and the prices were very good, even with shipping to CO. The owner walked us through everything also offering to build any custom pieces we might need. This year we're preparing or our show again and needed to add a piece. The owner has continued to be very helpful. If you need quality pieces at great prices compared to comparable offerings, definitely go with the Holiday Light Store, even if you need it shipped as we do. read more
