Because I'm from out of town, I rented a mat for three dollars which was in great condition and there was cleaning spray easily acceptable to wipe it down and let it dry. Sweat drips down skin,…read more Breathing in rhythm, relax, Thrive in Thamva heat. Thavma easily beat my expectations. The studio (Sarasota) was beautiful and zen. The teachers were great. The classes were challenging. I tried the two week trial (Nov 2021) and am now on my second year. The best thing about the teachers was their attention to detail: they make sure to watch your alignment and constant remind us of the right adjustments to make the poses correctly and safe. But they were also friendly and fun and the classes had lots of people that had clearly been members for a while. Their 26+2 class is a slight variation of Bikram, so if you know that or Google it, you will know what to expect. I enjoyed those classes very much. Just know there are slight and intentional variations and you should follow them and not show how you can do the "real" poses. The Red Thavma is basically Yoga + Pilates + Abs + Sauna. This is a great way to tone up and burn calories if that is your thing. The Black Thavma is a harder version of Red (less resting). I highly recommend their $39 two week all-you-can-yoga pass. Try to commit to 6-8 classes as the first one will seem hot enough to make you give up, but you get use to it and learn to pace yourself. I think it is easy to get addicted, and I did love it. Hints: get well hydrated 3-4 hours before class, sip water in class, definitely take a sweat towel for your mat and another for you face. Take (cold) water for sipping in class and take a sports drink for afterwards. They have showers, but if you don't wash off, then take a towel for your car seat. They supply a strap and block and when I forgot my mat they lent me a free one -but they normally charge $2 Do it!

I met with Nadia the owner, and she has such a classical additional respect in her teaching of yoga. We started this class with restorative yoga using postures to heal the body and create a sense of calm. We moved into a gentle hatha and transitioned to our painting segment for a time and finishing with a beautiful guided Nidra meditation. The studio offers Yin, Vinyasa, Hatha, & Ariel yoga.

There's a good variety of classes, including aerial which is awesome. The only thing that is kind of a bummer is my work schedule is pretty crazy and I would love more late evening classes that aren't only of the more meditative variety, or earlier classes that I could do before work. I feel like I can't go as much as I would like to bc of that, or I miss out on classes I want to take the most bc the schedule doesn't ever rotate and I can only take the same classes that are available with my schedule so it would be nice if things just rotated every now and then so it varied slightly. But again, these are just some simple suggestions and I absolutely love this studio and everything about it. It's really ignited my passion with yoga and given me a safe and comfortable space to enhance my practice and be a healthier, happier version of myself, inside and out. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and I always recommend it to everyone and anyone interested in getting into yoga. I just wish I could go more!
