Please keep in mind that this is a historical hotel so the rooms are odd angles. The bathroom was very small and the toilet sat angled in front of the vanity, so it was a little cramped to try to stand in front of the mirror/sink to get ready (hair, makeup, etc.). I absolutely adored that the room numbers outside the room are vintage post office box doors. The trains blow their whistles a lot at night passing through and this woke us up each night, so keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper. We enjoy trains and liked seeing them (so that is a pro/con, we liked the trains, just not at night when sleeping). We were there for our anniversary and I was pleasantly surprised there was a bottle of champagne on ice in our room upon our arrival with a nice card. So very sweet. I found the bed to be extremely comfy! So much so I meant to see what brand mattress it was but I forgot to look. Darn! The hotel itself is beautiful, I enjoyed walking through when we came and went. It was fun to browse the few shops. Although I was disappointed to not find anything with the St James logo on it, was hoping to buy a souvenir of some sort with the hotel logo (coffee mug or wine glasses?). Maybe I just missed seeing them if they have them? In all we enjoyed our stay and wandering throughout town for a few days.

The food selection was minimal, and the quality and presentation were mediocre. The only dish that was excellent was their risotto stuffed peppers. It was prepared well and was delicious. After making a few adjustments to the menu offering, we completed our selection, expecting to get the food we selected and paid for on the wedding day. However, that did not happen. When the food was served at the wedding, the spaghetti was cold, and the risotto stuffed peppers were made with quinoa, not risotto; the dish had zero flavor and was inedible. Additionally, the other meal selection, spaghetti, was served cold, and as I observed the room, many of the guests pushed their plates away after only a few bites of both meals. The third meal we chose was chicken. That was the only meal the guests mentioned they enjoyed. My husband and I were highly disappointed with the catering at the Skyroom and very frustrated at the catering company, which charged us for meals that were misrepresented at the tasting and served cold. We are also disappointed at Skyroom for not offering another catering option or allowing us to hire a caterer with a better food selection, primarily since they did not deliver what was promised. The Skyroom is a beautiful facility for a wedding, but unless they change their caterer or offer another option, I would think twice about having a wedding at this facility.

We took a seat in the parlor and were checked in, given a few recommendations for dinner, then shown our room. I enjoyed the library and parlor rooms very much. We stayed in Margaret's room and slept peacefully. The attention to detail, antiques and such, were spot on. Coffee and tea were brought up to our room at 8:15 in the morning, and left outside our door. A music box was played so that we knew when our beverages were at our door. Fantastic! And we got these amazing little muffins in the cutest little tray/basket. Breakfast was at 9am in the formal dining room. I found the seat with my name next to it, and joined the other guests for a three course breakfast. During our third coarse, we were given a brief history about the house from the inn keeper. Very interesting, indeed. All in all, a wonderful experience.

However, they were questioned as to the issue that the temperature this time of year is iffy for outdoors and the dining and reception area was wide open. They said there would be heaters. They had three waist high square propane heater in the reception area which held 250 people which is a lot of room. It was cold!!! Just outside there was a huge bomb fire going. I went to help set up the bar area and the small glass door refrigerator was full of mold. I had to clean it out. They rented a beer wagon with taps so people could serve themselves. The owner yelled at my son for driving over the grass to get it in place. Although there was no other way to do so. The food was awful BBQ pork, a mexican corn veggie mix, and potato. The kids menu was nicer chicken strips, fruit, and fries. The people serving the food were not dress very nice. I suppose it was because it was cold, but the young boys had greasy hair. They were missing chairs at a few tables even though we had set a table setting for each person. At the rehearsal supper we got there at 4 pm and the area was not set up. Tables were dirty and on their sides. We supplied the food ourselves for this all they had to do was have table and chairs set up. So everything ran late. The men were up at a shooting place with a bar. My son brought in expensive liquor to share with the groomsmen. He asked if he had to clean up the area and take it to the reception area. They said no. Well then next day his half full bottles were gone and they knew nothing. They said a chair was broken at the reception area, but they would not charge him for that. The road coming into the venue was very rutted out and bumpy. I like rustic, but this was bad. It is a beautiful place and setting, but not well run or organized at all. I will admit the price was lower than other places, but I think you get what you pay for. My DIL and her MOH decorated and set up everything. And everyone cleaned up. the next day. They did give credit for some of the decorations they could keep. Would not recommend this place. They loved it, but I was not a fan at all!

This was my second solo stay at Journey Inn, and somehow it felt even more special than the first…read more I first visited in 2023, when I stayed in the cottage with my dog. Three years later, I decided to treat myself to another little solo escape, this time spending two nights in the Forest Room inside the main B&B. It was exactly what I needed. I caught up on sleep, slowed down, relaxed, and had the freedom to move completely at my own pace. The breakfasts were absolutely outstanding, nourishing, fresh, and genuinely something I looked forward to each morning. I also enjoyed the Signature Forest Spa Experience and loved every part of it. Soaking in the Japanese bath was probably my favorite, followed by simply resting my eyes in the quiet spa relaxation room. The outdoor sauna was wonderful too. Journey Inn is such a magical little gem. There's something incredibly peaceful about this place, and after two solo stays at very different points in my life, it has become a genuinely meaningful place for me. I already know I'll be back.

Jennifer was so cool and personable she stayed up and waited til we got in (we are from California so it took a bit to get there) and on top of that, she made THE BEST breakfasts. Everything felt like it was from scratch. They also have an awesome dog named Fiona on site that was an unexpected, delightful surprise. The room itself was extremely organized and clean. Had so many amenities like WiFi, a basket containing stuff you may need if you forgot, robes, a tv, etc. The bathroom was top tier as well. Bed was comfortable and felt so large for two people it was awesome. The food: she had a menu that gave you a preview of what was included in the breakfasts which is so insanely convenient. There's a coffee stand and a dessert table in the central room that was *chef's kiss* and everything was so fresh! (Jennifer if u read this ur killin the game) The property: the place itself is seated on a pretty large chunk of land that has these cute trails I walked with my boyfriend. It felt private and was so beautiful. They also had a recommendation list of places nearby because it's kind of located "in the middle of nowhere" so that was nice especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. Lastly, they had a sauna on the property that was to die for! If I ever want an escape from reality, I'm definitely coming back here! Sorry it took so long to do this review!!
