If you want statuary, she has it (And it's reasonably priced). Do you need a new Tarot deck? She has at LEAST 40 decks. Do you need incense? It's there. How about jewelry? Plenty to choose from. I wasn't disappointed in what I saw. And trust me, I saw a lot! The owner works there from open to close, every day, and it is a labour of love! The store was in transition from Samhain to the next holiday, and it was cluttered, but if there was something I wanted, she knew just where it was. We had a lovely chat about the local new age population, about local covens and the acceptance/nonacceptance of her shop. It's sad when the Pagan populace is having to lecture the Christians on "Do unto Others, as ye would have done unto you." but she's had to do a lot of that, with kids and adults alike. I ended up buying a gargoyle who was just too cute to pass up, A small little monster who begged me to buy him and a present for a friend who's having a bit of trouble with the ladies. We'll see what happens with it. Do I reccomend Simple Strands? You bet I do. I'd come here every day if I lived in this area. Sadly I'm in Florida, but when I visit, you can BET I'll be back!

Yarn is a magnet for me, so I tend to look for yarn stores, yarn deals and specialty stores. This particular yarn studio popped up on my google maps when I was looking for yarn for a prayer shawl. So I drove 30 minutes there and found some great deals on dyed yarns of cotton and wool varieties. Turns out they offer crochet and knitting classes too. The 2 store owners were very welcoming and gracious in their attentions. I was given personal service and made to feel special. I ended up with Japanese brand yarn - noro that I previously could not afford. It was a wonderful experience. I was told they vary yarns from 4 different individual dye artists.

When finally she arrived, she found us in the shop. We waited to hear where, in the disorganized (in the process of closing) shop we should do the appraisal, but she wanted to do it in the parking lot. She followed us to our car and started "appraising" things right there at our opened trunk. We requested that we find a place out of the hot sun inside to spread out our belongings, and then we spent the next ten minutes wandering, looking for a space. When finally we squeezed into a corner somewhere, Selma began looking at our belongings. She looked at an ivory netsuke, told us that it was made of resin and therefore valueless. We told her that it was very old, and we were sure it was ivory, so again she picked it up and looked at it for a long, long time, finally pronouncing: yes, it is ivory. She looked at a Navajo blanket but had no clue. I told her that a seller out west had offered to sell it on consignment; she was scornful of that ("What? He expects you to mail it???") but had no suggestions or price ideas. She looked at a large Persian rug and told us that we should have it looked at by a rug expert, and she had one in mind, if only she could remember who it was.... and on and on it went in this fashion. She looked at an intricate antique clock, previously appraised professionally as having a value of $5,000. But because it wasn't signed, she said that it was impossible to assign a value. Apparently a lack of signature, in her world, means that she is helpless. Finally the appraisal was over (with not a single helpful thing having occurred). She informed us that she would charge us only for one hour, since she had been late. Her saying this made me assume we'd gone over an hour--but as she walked away we consulted our watches, and discovered that she'd been with us exactly one hour, much of that time standing in the parking lot and wandering about the shop looking for a place to spread out. So she actually overcharged us. I cannot recommend this appraiser--she had an appalling lack of knowledge and was just unprofessional overall.

They are very experienced and respectful and provide a top notch experience. We loved having my engagement ring resized there, bought both our wedding bands there, customized by wedding band, and they even helped fix one of my white gold chains to hold a special gift from my mom on my wedding day (a diamond pendant made from my grandmothers engagement ring). BEWARE!!! My…read moreadvise: STAY AWAY!!! The experience I had with this jeweler was by far the worst experience I could ever expect.... I wanted to get some work done to my engagement ring. Being new to town, I decided to stop around local jewelers, explain what I wanted, and get their opinions and cost estimation. When I went in to Frank and Son, they seemed like very nice people, seemed to know what they were doing, and also gave me the best time line and cost estimation. So, I decided to leave my ring with them for the work I wanted... BIG MISTAKE! Originally, Frank himself told me the work would take 3 to 4 weeks to complete. Fair, I thought, for a jeweler to essentially create a new ring. T Six weeks later, I had no ring. Getting anxious to have it back, I decided to call Frank to see how the work was going. No joke, I tried calling just about 15 times with NO ANSWER! I got so scared that they took my jewels and ran that I stopped by the shot ASAP. To my relief, their doors were still open, and my jewels still there. However, did he even start on my ring yet? No. When I asked him when it would be ready, he said about another week. When I asked about the phone, he said he was too busy to answer it. I should've taken my ring and ran, but I made the bad decision to let him keep it. I mean, it's only a week, right? TEN WEEKS LATER I STILL HAD NO RING. Not only did he by far pass the date he told me he would be ready, but yet again would NEVER answer the phone. I finally stopped by and told him a fib that I needed my ring for engagement pictures in 2 weeks, figuring that would give him enough time to get it right. I swear I stopped by that shop every other day to hound him to get it done, and 2 weeks later, sure enough he was finished. Finally I picked up my ring and at first impression it looked great! However, the shotty craftsmanship soon started to show... the work he did was absolute crap. The setting was not as we discussed, and in 2 days the rhodium on the white gold wore off, leaving my ring with a rough yellow tint to it. Not worth the money I paid for it at all, but at that point I didn't want anything to do with Frank or his Son. Overall, not even worth one star. Frank and Son are the worst jewelers I have ever been to. Hopefully my story will help others make the right decision... STAY AWAY!!!!

HOME DECOR AND FURNITURE!…read more This business is located inside of the Lakewood Antiques Building just inside the entrance to your left. This little shop carries planters, silk and plastic arrangements, decor items and furniture. They have small pieces that can sit on tables or larger pieces that can be used to anchor a space or as center pieces. Their furniture options included tables, chests, dressers, bookshelves and other pieces. I love that the store was divided into two sections where you can go off to the left and encounter lighter creamed colored pieces while the darker, (off black) pieces were on the right. side of the store. I am always drawn to black because it is my favorite color and a major feature in my very traditional decor. I love the light contrasting glaze added to the raised portions and edges of the pieces to create a bit of interesting detail. When it comes to furniture, I enjoy using it in unexpected ways and I love the idea of a pink elephant in the room. The pink elephant is that piece that catches everyone's attention while other pieces just fade to the background. These pieces are usually reserved for the more casual areas of my home such as the office and the kitchen area. Those simple bookshelves look great as the perfect place to store shoes. That dresser could be used in an upstairs hallway to store linen and other items. When it comes to home furnishings, think creatively and definitely outside of the box. Definitely worth a look when visiting the antique market.

I will start this off by stating that I am waiting on a repair to my ring so will update in a week…read moreor so and that everyone here has been very nice, welcoming, and helpful. My husband (at the time fiancé) stopped by here to see about getting his ring size. The staff was very friendly and helped him figure out his proper size. He discussed designing a custom ring while there and we have been highly considering working with them to create one. A few days before the wedding I needed to get my rings sized (engagement ring sized down and band sized up). They were very busy, but said they could get it done and would have it ready by that Friday. I called around lunch Friday to see if it was ready so we could pick it up. They said it would be ready. My fiancé went to pick up the rings and they were not ready yet. He waited on them to be completed and we were glad we got them in time for the wedding (and I will give major kudos because they cleaned them and I did NOT think they were that dirty, but boy did the set clean up nicely). However, we realized they did not quite sit properly together as there is a swoop on the band to allow it to sit up under the stone and the swoop shape was not quite right. I also lost a small accent diamond out of the engagement ring that had been sized down. I figured they were a bit rushed since my fiance was waiting for them to be completed and potentially did not get to check all of the settings/double check how the two fit with each other so I wanted to give them the chance to make it right as I know they did mention that they typically do several quality checks on everything. I made it back in and showed them the rings. They looked up my account and said they would make it right. They are currently working on the repairs and I am hopeful I'll be happy with the results. Even with the mishap and partially because of it I give them 4 stars. They clearly stand by their work and are willing to make things right and that goes a long way in business. Everyone there I have come into contact with has been very pleasant and helpful with a kind smile and that also speaks volumes. I look forward to getting my wedding set back and updating the review. Update: definitely still not right. Not happy with the fix. The engagement ring I'm fine with. I feel like with the band they flattened it out when they sized it up to extend it and that just set everything off center. The stones don't line up on the side anymore. The swoop was originally more up and down and the band is staggered like the engagement ring. Thus, the swoop sits under the stone and kind of locks it in place. Now, the swoop just lays below the stone and is not even proper to let it fully sit on top of it and moving the band and flattening it makes it not line up with the engagement ring and still gap. I'm over dealing with it and will potentially look to have it repaired elsewhere. Thankfully the plan is to make a custom ring set using this set's stones, but I really did want it to be done properly so I could enjoy this set while I have it. Bumping down to 3 stars.
