It said so much to me to learn that during my visit because it would have been so easy to just not make the 15 minutes needed but no, they made it happen and was even in contact with my primary care doctor to coordinate everything. That is one reason why I always have BayCare doctors, their system is linked, making it easier for them.

There's plenty of free parking in front. The waiting room is comfortable. The new patient forms are all completed online. You don't have to print out anything. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Once taken back, the staff worked like a well oiled machine. I went from station to station. I got an ECG, met with a nurse, a physicians assistant, the pacemaker rep and then (of course) Dr. Norris. He has a great demeanor. He answered all of my questions. He was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The overall experience was great. The replacement procedure went uneventfully and the followup visit went smoothly, as well. I can definitely recommend Dr. Norris if you don't currently have a cardiologist.

(her primary doc retired and we have another week before we can get in to establish with her new Primary Care doc). She's having so much anxiety about having another stroke, frustration because the anxiety causes extreme fatigue and she's short of breath. She can't eat, she's not doing her therapy exercises. His response? "Well your heart looks good. That's all probably from anxiety. You should see someone about that." Not one iota of compassion or understanding. Just another arrogant doctor with a God complex and a "how dare you question me" attitude. If you're looking for a doctor who will treat the PERSON, not the organ, this guy is NOT it.

He has consistently worked to find solutions for me instead of just maintaining the status quo. About two weeks ago my mom was admitted after a stroke and everyone from the ER triage nurses to the people delivering meal trays were just so nice, helpful and patient with my mother and kept our family up to date with things regarding her health. Since we spent a few long days at the hospital we were given a cart with tea, coffee, bottled water, soft drinks, fruit and snacks every day that were were there. That was completely unexpected and so appreciated. I especially appreciate the nurses in the Neuro ICU unit and the nurses in the third floor comfort care unit. Their compassion and was incredible especially since such an awful time in our lives. They have a DD downstairs in the lobby and a cafeteria where the food actually isn't bad at all. They even provide meals free of charge sent to the patient's room if you want.

In the meantime, the doctor ordered mass blood transfusion in an improper way that worsened her condition instead of stabilizing her, while failing to move the central line that was improperly placed and that the radiologist recommended be repositioned. HCA Healthcare has faced no consequences, and there is no way for people researching physicians through the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the medical licensing board, to see what happened to my daughter. Because she was 25, unmarried, and had no children, Florida's 'Free Kill' law strategically blocked me from pursuing legal recourse to ensure the hospital and its physicians are held accountable so the harm does not continue. I have recommended several people to him over the years (he is not always taking on new patients, so check back regularly) and have had grateful communications from every one of them. One good friend that I had referred to him, after this friend had griped that his current doctor was just not that interested, complained jokingly that Dr Purcell was spending too much time on him and that his appointments were taking too long. If I had any negative it would be that during busy times (eg flu season) it can be hard to get an appointment with him, and they try to divert you to other Doctors in the (large) practice. Dr Purcell is the best doctor I have ever interacted with, in any field. PS: If you research him, you will find he is one of those rare family doctors who takes almost nothing (bribes?) from the pharmaceutical industry.
