This is my local branch of the Ming Chen Clinics and the only one I've been in to date. Therefore,…read morethis review will be solely on my experiences here as opposed to other branches. Although, I am keen to see how the one on Woodlands Road measures up in comparison. Anyway, this is an acupuncture and herbalist clinic. It offers a range of treatments such as: acupuncture (obviously), Chinese herbal remedies, tui na (Chinese massage), reiki and spiritual medium services. They also claim to be able to help treat a range of problems like anxiety, asthma, depression, insomnia, stress and 'Women & Men's Problems'. I really do love this last one, but am a little confused as to what it means. Different problems to do with male and female genitalia? Sex problems between couples? Or just couple counselling sessions? Or do I just have a dirty, dirty mind?? Nonetheless, this is a good sized clinic which offers help with almost anything. I've been in here to have a few massages and have enjoyed them for a decent price. I have a friend who came here for reiki and really enjoyed it until she managed to creep herself out something awful. There's some big story about feeling more than two hands on her and how this was proof of spiritual guardians or something. I've also heard of a few friends coming here to help them stop smoking. Whatever, happened it actually seemed to work as well. Though, only for around three days to a week. Thus, I would say that the actual treatments and remedies can be very hit and miss depending on what they are and, of course, on what YOU expect them to do. However, in general terms it is a nice, clean, tidy clinic that offers a wide range of treatments and remedies. The staff are friendly and the prices decent. Worth a go, if there's something that catches your eye and you're not expecting miracle cures.

There's no denying it, both inside and out Maryhill Health Centre is pretty grim. A low one-storey…read moreconcrete building that looks like it's been fortified against attacks from the natives, and inside it has the sterile feel of a hospital (which is not a décor choice I enjoy....) The centre does, however, have plenty to offer. It houses not one, but four medical practices which accept new patients on a rotating basis. It also has a variety of other services on offer including the usual clinics around issues such as asthma and stopping smoking as well as a physiotherapist to which you can self-refer and an in-house pharmacy that makes collecting a prescriptions convenient. Apart from the cold sweat I get when walking through the door of somewhere that reminds me so much of a hospital, I've mostly found my visits to the health centre to be OK experiences. The staff have been friendly and helpful and it's not been too difficult to get an appointment. The only downside has been that they seem to consistently run behind and you'll usually wait at least 10 minutes (usually more) past your appointment time before you are seen, even if you're there early in the day.

Doctors highly professional, ask the right questions, listen to your response and give excellent advice. They are quick to refer to relevant specialist where appropriate. Clinic staff are also well trained, polite and professional. You may have to wait a bit beyond your appointment time but remember it may be you that the Dr. spends a bit more time with too. There are times they are extremely busy but they always try to get you an appointment as soon as possible or a home visit if you are incapacitated and can't make it to the surgery.

Most doctors have a very poor manner in dealing with patients, acting as if our presence was an inconvenience, rushing through each appointment with solemn faces. We would be heavily chastised and even refused appointments for being no more than 3 minutes late, and yet were usually expected to wait at least 10 minutes after appointment time to actually be seen, which happens yes, but the attitude towards such minor lateness shows they value their own time much more than ours as patients. The best doctors we both dealt with were always locums, who would show the gulf in service with both bedside manner and time given. Receptionists, with the exception of one that we encountered were all severely rude, hugely poor in dealing with the public in person, and would always make you feel unwanted or like a waste of time. Again only seemed to value their own time. Would make you feel stupid for asking questions. Got to the point we actually put off going to the doctor because of the atmosphere and treatment we would receive, when we should feel happy and free to visit our doctor with any health concerns. Genuinely seems as if everyone has given up, doesn't care, and just does their job because it's their job - 'careerists'. No level of empathy or understanding to be found anywhere. The positive difference was obvious in almost every way once we switched doctors. Do not recommend if you want a doctor that cares.
