This is a wonderful magazine that is focused on articles that appeal to the upper crust of…read moreNortheastern Florida. The photography for this magazine is worth perusing alone! Jacksonvillians will be able to truly appreciate seeing our city highlighted in such a beautiful way. That being said, the demographic is definitely targeted and the content may not necessarily appeal to everyone. I do however like the '30 Second Critic' column which focuses on Jacksonville related reviews of such things as local authors, musicians and books. The Publisher's Letter, written by Joseph White, publisher of Jacksonville Magazine is always witty and poignant as well. Jacksonville Magazine also publishes another monthly magazine called 904. I enjoy this publication as well as it spotlights successful local business men and women. And as a standard for this company the photography is simply beautiful. You can pick up Jacksonville Magazine and its subsidiary 904 all over town. The price is very inexpensive at $3.95 for Jax Mag and a whopping $2.95 for 904. It is important to note however, that you can also subscribe on their website as well. Additionally, 904 can be downloaded for free. If you enjoy good local information and beautiful photography definitely pick up this well put together magazine.

They do a good job of featuring different topics of interest in each one. My favorite issue each year is the Top Restaurants; I am bit of a foodie after all. Each one serves as a good guide to where you can find what you need in the city: restaurants, doctors, charities, pet-themed happenings. It really does run the gamut and does a good job doing so. While the stand cost isn't bad at all, the savings on a subscription was well worth it to us and we've had one for the past couple of years.

This alternative newspaper is the weekly local news for Northeast Florida centered around…read moreJacksonville. It was founded in 1987 and is the largest such newspaper in the region. The paper has a circulation of 15000-20000 and I found it an interesting read. The story on curling was revealing to know that this sport is taking off locally. Yes, a sport where you carefully throw a kettle down a sheet of ice to score points is now becoming quite southern.
