    Loving the Spicy Dill
    Amy L.

I love this family run business - The Happy Pickle. I make special trips to the Public Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays for their wonderful fresh crunchy pickles! Depending on the time of day they may also have olives, pickled peppers and relish. They make several different kinds of pickles - Dill, Spicy Dill, Garlic, Hot Garlic, Horseradish and multiple other varieties but those are my favorites. 32oz Container $5 and I believe in some cases they have discounts for buying multiple. Staff is always very friendly, helpful and always willing to answer questions and give samples. The pickles are always fresh and have the best crunch of any pickle out there. They may actually be one of my favorites foods - I could eat them daily. I hate when I run out and have to count down to public market time. I use the pickle brine to marinate my boneless chicken breast and its wonderful. The Brine also makes perfect dirty vodka martinis. They have a Facebook page to check out but don't appear to update that often - so I am not sure what other events/places that they also sell at. Do not hesitate to check them out at the Rochester Public Market and take home some pickles - you will not be disappointed!!

What yummy pickles!! My boyfriend and I got to sample some of their pickles. The staff running the booth were so friendly and charms. One of their pickle names is "sweet hottie" and the seller told a woman they named the pickle after her. So funny. We got a deal where we bought 2 sweet kinds and got $1 off. They were selling out of their dill quickly so he was trying to bring attention to his sweet selection.

Some places try to over complicate their brine and make pickles that don't really taste like pickles.

You get on a wagon pulled by a tractor and they drop you off to pick your choices of apples. I love that they don't spray year round and they only treat at the beginning of the season and only for the pest(s) identified. They don't use a generic pesticide and generally seem to be environmentally conscious. I also love that they allow you to sample the apples Great little family orchard. Rock on Whittier!

Cute little store barn, with apples already bagged for a quick grab and go! Donuts, cider, veggies and popcorn available to purchase. Some craft items like signs for purchase too. They have a tractor with a wavy that takes people out to a specific area to pick different types of apples. They have things working very smoothly here, if a sign is on the ground that row of apples is not ready to be picked. A sign is up telling you all the details about that apple... it's ready to be picked. There were a good number of people picking apples with us but everyone is spaced out very nicely. Tried a few apples and they were crisp and sweet ... feels like fall is here! Back on the wagon up to the barn, where they have these cute old fashioned scales to weigh your apples and pay. Very cute experience that we all enjoyed.
