Well, stop I did, to see if they had a gift for a friend's birthday. First, I love any store that smells like balsam as you walk through the door. The scent makes me feel like a kid again. I'm not from Maine (have been here long enough to feel at home), but as a kid we used to drive here from Ohio and spend a few weeks going up and down the coast. The smell of balsam reminds me of these trips. Second, I was shocked by the variety they had. Maple syrup, Maine souvenirs, crafting supplies, wooden figurines, and antiques. The have a sign stating that they "glue chairs". I didn't know that was a thing, but apparently, it is... They also sell wreaths and Christmas trees during the appropriate season. And finally, the owners were as nice as could be. They had out hot chocolate for the kids, and they wrapped my little gift up neatly. This little shop is well worth the drive into town because of how darn cute it is!

We visited Poppy & Vale, which is filled with many things for the home. They have candles and many other items to provide scents for your home. They have many fancy ways to make food... Moroccan cooking tangines, knives, pitchers, glasses, syrups. Wine items including a frog-shaped wine foil remover (removes the wine outside of the cork). I was in the store for a second time visit to potentially buy a big piece. As I was walking around…read morelooking at an item trying to decide on my decision (because it was a big purchase), the store clerk came to me and said you have 5 few minutes to decide and pay as I have to leave. I said "is there a problem?" He said "no I have to go pick up my dog ", but in a very rude abupt manner - his aggressive behavior made me feel so uncomfortable and unwelcoming , I didn't want to buy anything at that point. The store hours on a Sunday are 10am to 6pm. The owner should consider his help is not helping his revenue and should want someone whom cares more about their customers than there individual personal needs. or how about just be nice to the customer and say something like "I am so sorry I have to close for a short time is there something I can help you decide on" rather than approaching me with such an aggressive manner and like "make it quick and get out. Think about the help you hire who cares more for themselves than your business. I will never return to this store.
