Well, stop I did, to see if they had a gift for a friend's birthday. First, I love any store that smells like balsam as you walk through the door. The scent makes me feel like a kid again. I'm not from Maine (have been here long enough to feel at home), but as a kid we used to drive here from Ohio and spend a few weeks going up and down the coast. The smell of balsam reminds me of these trips. Second, I was shocked by the variety they had. Maple syrup, Maine souvenirs, crafting supplies, wooden figurines, and antiques. The have a sign stating that they "glue chairs". I didn't know that was a thing, but apparently, it is... They also sell wreaths and Christmas trees during the appropriate season. And finally, the owners were as nice as could be. They had out hot chocolate for the kids, and they wrapped my little gift up neatly. The trip was brief - Thursday evening to Sunday, but filled with family, fun, and some exploring. On Saturday morning, while our son did homework in the room, while my wonderful wife was exercising, our daughter and I explored North Conway, NH. We visited Poppy & Vale, which is filled with many things for the home. They have candles and many other items to provide scents for your home. They have many fancy ways to make food... Moroccan cooking tangines, knives, pitchers, glasses, syrups. Wine items including a frog-shaped wine foil remover (removes the wine outside of the cork). I was a little surprised since that seems like something that would be helpful to have available at a campground. Overall, the store didn't seem very well stocked with everyday essentials. It's definitely convenient for firewood and a few quick things, but I wouldn't rely on it if you need toiletries, medicine, or other basic necessities.
