We visited Poppy & Vale, which is filled with many things for the home. They have candles and many other items to provide scents for your home. They have many fancy ways to make food... Moroccan cooking tangines, knives, pitchers, glasses, syrups. Wine items including a frog-shaped wine foil remover (removes the wine outside of the cork). I said "is there a problem?" He said "no I have to go pick up my dog ", but in a very rude abupt manner - his aggressive behavior made me feel so uncomfortable and unwelcoming , I didn't want to buy anything at that point. The store hours on a Sunday are 10am to 6pm. The owner should consider his help is not helping his revenue and should want someone whom cares more about their customers than there individual personal needs. or how about just be nice to the customer and say something like "I am so sorry I have to close for a short time is there something I can help you decide on" rather than approaching me with such an aggressive manner and like "make it quick and get out. Think about the help you hire who cares more for themselves than your business. I will never return to this store.

The staff is knowledgeable about the artists and the craft of making these special pieces. Such a whimsical name of an establishment (Christmas Tree Shop just sounds wonderful). But everyone who works there is like an old, nasty elf! In the ten or so times I've come in, I've either been grimaced at, dismissed or rudely spoken to. It's just a negative, not-so-nice place, certainly not representative of what's outside their store (it's an otherwise generally friendly town). Case in point: as a Californian, I'd never tried Moxie Soda but wanted to try some when I decided to buy it there. At checkout, was so excited to try it and thought I'd express my fun enthusiasm to the unfriendly checkout lady. Her retort was off-putting: "it tastes like cough syrup!" and added a lot of other unwarranted insults, with a contradictory interjection. She was being unnecessarily rough! I responded by initially offering a kind chuckle. But I later came to understand, because she was deadpan, it was a dig against me, diminishing me and my enthusiasm, not to mention questioning my choice of buy. Ouch! The prices are good and the store is clean and organized (which is why it deserves an extra star) but the people who work there are either dismissive or unnecessarily rough! I intuit they perhaps deal with extenuating circumstances that makes them dislike their job or simply don't like customers. Please, staff: customers are not your enemy.
