Oh, the woes of cleaning up and repairing things after a hurricane. When an 80-foot pine tree came down during Hurricane Beryl, it took a bunch of our garage, trees, patio items and all of our back gutters with it. What a mess! I called The Gutterman out to give us an estimate before any of the structural repairs were even begun. Some of the gutters would be removed by our roofer/contractor, but some would have to be taken down when new ones were put up. We were given an estimate, broken down into sections so we could choose either all or parts of the gutters around our garage and the back of the house. Yes, it took a bit to get our actual estimate, and I was finally successful. We knew, though, that the gutters would be one of the last items to repair, so I was in no hurry. Once we calculated when structural repairs would begin, I physically went to their office, placed a down payment on the entire job and notified them that I would be in touch when we were 3 to 5 days out from needing the gutters installed. And, sure enough, when the majority of our repairs were completed and I called The Gutterman, they were here within days. All new gutters! We keep coming back to this business for several reasons: they are local, their gutter installation is superb and the gutters actually work with NO LEAKS. Prices are competitive, and since we've gone down the road with another gutter installation business that had to come out multiple times for repairs, it's just so much easier to start with The Gutterman and let the job be done right from the start. read more

Tried to get an assessment for a small leak in a corner of my gutter. Zero communication happened afterwards and then they called to schedule the repair and a cleaning 10 days later. When I asked them for a proposal they said they would email to me later. I asked them to stop the scheduling and have the crew call me to review the job scope and proposed solutions. Brad then texted me the proposal and I asked him to call me to review the plan. I suggested they come out and get on a ladder to assess the situation before offering solutions. They ultimately called back (3rd time same day) to schedule an assessment of the leak and vertical splash guards and informed me of a $200 assessment fee. This place is 1) poor with communication 2) poor with project planning 3) poor with customer service overall. I wish they had not wasted my time with these shenanigans. read more

I got several bids to upgrade/add/fix some gutters. I had three projects: (1) add downspouts in the front; the original always overflowed and green moss on side of house, (2) gutter seam on back porch wrong angle always leaks, (3) needed new gutter on breezeway between house and garage. Talked with Brad, very professional, gave a detailed drawing and exact pricing. Pricing was very good. The installation was scheduled and complete in a professional manner. Quality is outstanding and the cleanup was phenomenal; as if they were never here. I highly recommend this company. I would only look at recent reviews. Updating my review to 4 stars. Right after I left my previous review, the company reached out to me and explained that the delay was due to Covid related supply issues, which makes sense. Still not a good reason to not keep me updated, this I'm taking away 1 star. They were prompt about putting up the gutters, did a good job cleaning up afterwards, and it's been working well so far. I also received a follow up text to see if I had any questions, so I appreciate the customer service. Overall, I recommend this company for your gutter needs, as long as they make an extra effort to keep customers updated on the status of the install date. ===== Previous review - Want to pay someone for a task and be ignored? The company name is L & L Construction LLC, dba The Gutter Man. Received a quote for new gutter install. They required a 35% deposit to get on the install list. In my case that was $150.00 which I paid over a month ago. Since then I have not received a call or follow up for when the install will take place. I have called once before and was told due to the rain they were behind on the installs. Today I called, and again and was given the same song and dance. I requested a full refund of my deposit. I will follow up when or if I receive my deposit, without having to take legal action. They only corrective criticism I can give is improve your Customerservice. He was unable to go off script and seemed like main goal was to re-evaluate entire system instead of repairs which is what I called in originally for. After I was paying them $275 for about a 30 minute gutter cleaning. I decided not to pay for THREE screws. WILL NEVER USE/BE ABUSED BY THEM AGAIN. Called The Gutter Man for a quote to install gutters on rear and side of our house. Estimator came out, calculated the job and left a sheet for me to sign and send in to get on the schedule. When I pushed back about the 35% deposit to get on the schedule, I was told by the estimator he would check with the office and get an exception so we could proceed without the deposit. I would not agree to a deposit to basically get on the schedule. It has now been over a week without a reply or update so I have moved on. read more

After weeks of getting voicemail or no answer at all I finally got a live person; only to be told that they no longer accept the Angie's List deal and that I would need to call them to get a refund. Purchased a special offer on groupon so not sure if that is why the experience was so bad but would not recommend their services to anyone. The crew actually left a hole in the wall of my house (from trying to brace a down spout) and left a huge pile of trash bags next to the house because "the other truck that can haul trash was out of service" Called the office to complain and the supervisor was also rude on the phone acting as if it was my fault for expecting a higher level of service. We bought a Groupon for gutter cleaning services, they showed up the day agreed, late, but ok. They said they can't clean any of my gutters because there was a damaged siding portion (damaged by the heavy rain the night before). Anyway they did nothing and re-scheduled for 4 weeks later. 4 weeks later is today (August 3rd 2016) they said they would call and confirm yesterday, they didn't. We called this morning to confirm, they confirmed. And now.... we just got a call saying... "we have a lot of work, wait for another 6 weeks or call Groupon to get your money back". that was it... I don't know how good they are are cleaning gutters, but definitely not good at scheduling appointments and honoring their own promotions... not recommended at all, unless you have all the time in the world to wait until you seem to be a priority for them. read more

He worked with my timeframe as I was leaving for a long vacation and he fit me in. My only problem was getting ahold of someone in the office but once I did everything went smoothly. DONT ever use the company Gutter Man for your gutter work. Every week for the last 5-6 weeks I get an excuse why they can't come out when scheduled, to replace 1 screen that blew off my gutter. Probably a 15 min job however the excuses just keep coming. I called this morning AGAIN asking where they were and got another excuse. First the excuse there is no crew, or the crew took an extended thanksgiving holiday or it's sprinkling outside, don't have a crew. When they say "just call if you need anything" that's what they mean. You call but NOTHING happens. I would give them a zero star if I could. Their customer service and follow up are the worse I have ever seen. If I ran my biz this way I would be out of biz!!! Sheesh so frustrating!!! read more

The Gutter Man crew is very detailed and did a thorough job cleaning my gutters, but beware that the linear feet measurement also includes the length of the downspouts. I was unaware of that. Also, they tried to sell me on fixing all kinds of things on my roof and when they offered to cut a branch for $75 i took them up on it, thinking that they meant a very large branch. I am a small person, but could have easily cut that branch myself, so I was extremely disappointed and I called to let them know. They did not nail in the gutters that had nails sticking out, saying that they needed another kind of attachment. Now I have to get someone else out to do that and it would have been so easy for them to do while they were on the roof. I do not trust them and I called to let them know. I usually only give positive reviews, but don't want others to get scammed like i felt scammed. read more

What a waste of money. We had a gutter repaired by The Gutter Man less than 2.5 years ago. While The Gutter Man's warranty is 1 year only, the gutter came loose resulting in a water leak. Upon inspection, there was no detritus on the gutter. Incidentally, none of the neighboring townhouses have had gutter issues (we discuss home maintenance amongst ourselves). The gutter initially came unhinged as a result of a renovation to the exterior of the home. The Gutter Man offered no compensation, stating the 1 year warranty policy expired and that we had not used them for gutter maintenance following the repair. A qualified repairman confirmed that the gutter came loose as a result of the repair. All that money gone not even 3 years later! I would not recommend The Gutter Man based on their poor quality of work, an inability to accept blame for it and no willingness to compensate me for it. I've never written a poor review on Yelp before but I feel that users should not employ this company. read more

The one star is not for the quality of work, but for the service by the reception/office staff and being charged for services not discussed, needed or provided. I called The Gutter Man (TGM) on Tuesday 5/31/16 and spoke with Margaret to schedule an estimate. On Wednesday June 1st Margaret called to verify my address which she'd written down incorrectly. I called again on Thursday to ask if they'd found someone to come out. They hadn't. Margaret called back later that day to schedule me for the following Friday afternoon 6/10/16. The next Thursday, the day before the appt, Michael called to ask if they could come earlier -- 10:30 instead of noon. I said ok. At 9:00, the morning of the appt, Don, the estimator, called to ask if he could come earlier -- as in "now" -- because he was in my neighborhood. "Ok." Don gave me an estimate for the install of new gutters, downspouts and leaf guards. There was no discussion of gutter cleaning. If there had been, I would've declined because we'd JUST had them cleaned by another company 2 weeks before - and I have a paid invoice to prove it. After TGM crew installed the new gutters, I was handed a copy of our paid invoice that showed $115 for gutter cleaning which the crew didn't do because there wasn't anything to clean. If there was, I would've seen the evidence all over my front yard (eg, leaf/pine needle debris), which there wasn't. I immediately called TGM and again spoke with Margaret who told me gutter cleaning is listed on my signed contract. What I had in my possession, that Don gave me the week before, was a breakdown of charges that did not state gutter cleaning. It's on an itemized list, but the box was not checked as something to be done. Margaret said that what I had "is not the contract," and that she would email me a copy in order to "jog my memory." That was insulting since there wasn't a memory to jog as the discussion re: gutter cleaning didn't happen between Don and me. If she thinks I have a memory problem, then why would I have known that it was Don's 60th birthday on June 15th (the day I was speaking to her) and that his brother in California was bummed that none of his kids played baseball but chose soccer instead or that Don went to Mississippi State but his mom wanted him to go to Ole Miss? I told Margaret that I was annoyed and wanted to speak with an owner. She immediately said they weren't available and would have them call me. It's been 3 full days and I've neither gotten a copy of the "contract" she said she'd email to me, nor a phone call from an owner. Sadly, Margaret lost the company a few thousand dollars worth of future business and any referrals I would've provided all because of a $115 over charge and her stubbornness. I had plans to use their other services (patio and sprinkler) but now all I can do is give them a bad review and dispute the charge. Margaret is the voice and face of TGM, so shame on the owners for putting (and keeping) her in that position -- unless she does, indeed, accurately represent their business. I found the company on the Angie's List. Due to its high rating, I decide to choose the company for the gutter work. So the appointment was made for the June 10th and I was told that "Don" with 30 years experience would conduct the evaluation. No one showed up. I called the company and was told my name was not in their system therefore no appointment was in record. I was told they were very busy and another appointment would be for two weeks later. I told her I would consider other companies. If a company could not manage and honor an appointment, what else they can be accounted for? Since I learnt about the company on the Angie's list, I wrote a review with an "F" rating to the Angie's list on June 10th, the same day my appointment was supposed to be. The review, to date, is still not posted yet. Maybe "Angie's List" is very busy as well. read more

Please note that I created a yelp account specifically to rate this company. In the final days of May, I called to schedule an appointment with the Gutter Man; 5 Jun was our agreed-upon date. I received a phone call from Kimmy on 4 Jun to confirm that Don would do a drive by estimate the next day. After a week had passed since the appointment date without hearing from Don, I called and spoke with Kimmy who confirmed I indeed had an appointment but couldn't tell if he went by my house or not. She apologized and immediately re-dispatch Don to my home for the estimate. It's now 15 Jun and I still haven't heard back from the company. If this company doesn't honor appointments or respect their clientele enough to provide courtesy calls with delays to their service, no matter how busy they are, I don't feel they deserve my business...or yours. How it starts is how it goes... This review is not a reflection on Kimmy, as she was professional and courteous; it's a review on The Gutter Man's general operations. Albeit others have given them high service marks for their work, it doesn't appear that their service level is consistent which is a key metric I look for when establishing working relationships and referring them to colleagues. read more

I bought a Group-On for their gutter cleaning services. The ONLY reason I'm not giving them a five is the TWO times we were rescheduled in two months. If you cannot handle the work load, you really shouldn't be doing that kind of promotion. We had Jeff, the supervisor, show up with the crew and he did a great job of not only presenting the facts but in helping the obviously junior sales guy learn without embarrassment. For that reason alone, I'd use them again. Alex, the sales guy, was really very, very sweet and personable. PRO's: - clean, professional, well-spoken, English-speaking crew - exceptional care before, during and after of the roof and all of the property - excellent pricing - consistent communication - written report so that if I DID have issues but wanted someone else to do the work we'd have a starting point. CON's: - rescheduled twice and couldn't make the initial appointment for more than 30 days. Their sister company "The Siding Man" will NOT be getting the same review!!! read more

Jeff Lambert was scheduled to be at my home today @ 1:00 to give us an estimate: HE NEVER SHOWED UP, NEVER PHONED, NEVER ANSWERED MY E-MAIL! We re-arranged our schedules so someone would be home to meet him; we made them aware of this; so inconsiderate and unprofessional! Follow-up: Jeff phoned at 6:49PM, wanted to do the estimate, Ron asked why he wasn't there at 1:00, Jeff responded, "You were scheduled as a drive by not an appointment at 1:00", Ron told him that we didn't need him and hung up. 2nd follow-up: Mr Lambert made the decision to attack our character on Angie's List, he stated: "The husband used some very choice words in regards to his wife (which just was uncomfortable) and then hung up." As God is my witness; this DID NOT happen and what Mr Lambert is not aware of is that there were eight people on the patio that night who heard the conversation and they were all shocked when we showed them what he had written. We don't understand why he would make this false statement and quite honestly we don't care to know, but after reading a Consumer Report; we are no longer impressed when a company or business tells us they are on Angie's List. read more

They came out and cleaned them out but were not able to pressure wash them because a plumber was here to replace the water heater and the water was shut off. Anyways they did a good job cleaning the gutters but left all the junk that they cleaned out all over the lawn. Also, they did not offer to come back and pressure wash the gutters. Disaster of an experience unfortunately. We did go to them via a Groupon, and I always have a sense of hesitation with Groupons. But all we needed was our gutters cleared of all the pine needles, so it really shouldn't have been a big deal. To be fair, and on the positive side of things: they did show up on time and our gutters were cleared properly. On the negative, and more important side of things: we had two major problems. We have a pool in our backyard, and instead of clearing out the gutters in a direction AWAY from the pool, it seems as though they blew pine needles, roof debris, etc directly into the pool as the entire bottom of the pool had a thick black layer of roof debris on the bottom (that has required the cleaning of our filters 3-4x a week, completely new filters - which were only a couple months old to begin with, a broken Polaris, etc). And now, 3 full months after the gutter job, we are STILL cleaning roof debris out of our system multiple times a week. The second problem, albeit a smaller one, was that supposedly they had "attempted to clean the pool" and in doing so they hit a portion of our siding with the pool skimmer and knocked a good chunk out of the wood. When I called to complain about both of these issues, I was told that normally they take before and after pictures of the house, but in our case they failed to do this, so there's no way to prove that they were at fault for either issue. It seemed a little too coincidental after the mess they left of our property not to have taken the photos if it was normal policy to do just that. read more

A year ago I paid $65 for gutter cleaning from another company since I lost my phone contacts I couldn't reach to other company and I found Gutter Man from Groupon. When I received a coupon expiration notice in two weeks from Groupon I decided to call them. They arranged their service one day after the Groupon expiration date (I believe on purpose) but told me that they will honor my Groupon. On the day of the service I received a call from the crew and they told me that I have screens so there will be an additional fee of $50. When I objected this they told me to wait for a call from their supervisor. I called the supervisor immediately when I see their voice message on my cell phone. He told me that I should have read the fine print which he proudly mentioned that he himself drafted. We read together and the sentence goes like this "Extra fees may apply for homes 3 story & over; homes w/ covered gutters, carport/patio/box gutters; or roof that is metal/slate/tile." He told me that my screens are labor intensive and this is a discounted rate which should have been $100. It looks like you are at the mercy of the Gutter Man at this stage. I told the supervisor how he feels asking for almost twice as much as a competitor. He answered they have a very high quality job and my question is like going to Ford dealership and asking for an Expedition for a Fusion price. He applied regular sales pressure tactics such as my crew is out there waiting for 20 minutes, if we don't hear from you we will have to move the crew, your Groupon already expired you can contact Groupon etc. At that moment I realized the reason of arranging the cleaning after Groupon expiration date. I didn't want to deal with Groupon hassle. The crew did their job. I couldn't differentiate Fusion from Expedition. How can you, it is only gutter cleaning. They got almost twice as much what I paid for last year but they lost a customer for life. read more

The day before my scheduled service they called and said that they would have to reschedule because they were backlogged with Groupon requests. Whining because you are too busy gets no sympathy from me - you should be grateful for your blesssings. 2. Keep the appointments you have committed to and do a good job. That is the way I was raised and always trained that a real man (and gentleman) acts. So I guess you need to change your name from Gutter Man to Gutter _______? I purchased a living social coupon which I suggest everyone read the fine print which borders on "bait and switch" it tells you it's good for up to 250 ft. but fails to mention how much more you pay for any additional footage. Jeff Lambert came down and explained I would have to pay an additional $141.50 which was pure sticker shock on top of the $75 I paid for the living social. I declined the offer at the time even after I asked if he could do part of the house which he said he could not do because "everything is connected". When I called back deciding to eat my losses they wanted to charge an additional $37.50 "trip charge" which they claim was explained but was not and is not on any paperwork that was given. I strongly urge you to go with another company. read more
