There was a parking spot immediately 8n front of The Grumpy Sicilian so I thought "Why not?" Good choice. None of us wanted a big meal so we risked getting just a slice -- which was delicious! I feared that it might be dried out, but judging from the traffic, the pizza was freshly baked and the town foot traffic made short work of the pie. I've been on the hunt for good chicken parm, did not find it here. So far the best parm I've got was at Rosa's, the parm here is like 3/5 very mediocre. Tried the parm with fries and was unpleasantly surprised to get mouthfuls of dry, flavorless starch from the thick cut soggy fries. There's a reason they use thin cut for stuff like carne asada fries and marinara does not go well with french fries in my opinion. So why the 5 stars? The grumpy slice is some of the best pizza I've ever had. I thought it looked questionable that they seemed to just reheat pizza that was sitting on the display counter, but the taste and texture were perfection. And only $5 for a slice. We were walking around Prescott and decided to stop in for a slice of pizza. The place was small and had a warm vibe inside. There was a short line ahead of us (about six people), but it moved quickly. They have a great variety of pizza by the slice--which I love, since a lot of places only offer a couple of options. The pizza itself was AMAZING, especially for the price. What really stood out, though, was the service. There were only two guys running the whole place--taking orders, heating slices, keeping things moving--and they did an incredible job. The line moved fast, the pizza came out great, and both of them stayed positive and friendly the entire time. Huge credit to them for handling everything so well. I stopped into this place Saturday afternoon after spending some time hanging out on the square. My mission was to get 2 slices of pizza. When I went in, the place was fairly busy and there was a line of people ordering. The line moved quickly, but I started to notice the staff were not using gloves of any kind. I ordered 2 slices of pizza which the server placed into the oven with a spatula. I then asked if they had Stromboli. He reached under the counter and showed me one. In his hand. No plate, no gloves, just sitting there. I passed. The same hands that handle cash, the credit card machine, cloths and all the other food. I do not want to think any more about that. No one there had gloves. The pizza you can order by the slice is on display so you can easily choose what you want, but it's only partially cooked. Less than 2 minutes later, the pizza slices 'were done' and were put on 2 paper plates. I asked if they had red pepper and he yelled into the general throng of customers 'if you have the red pepper can you bring it up'. No-one blinked and I left without red pepper. Truly apathetic (also grumpy) atmosphere in there. Now of COURSE this is a tourist trap, any local knows Bills is on the other side of the square and way busier for a reason, but I wanted to give them one chance. Both pizza slices were extremely bland, and not cooked enough. My wife's pizza had cold peppers on it, which tells you the oven is not that hot and was not in there long enough. For a late night quick pizza spot The Grumpy Sicilian really hit the spot! They are open until 2am on the weekends. They have slices, whole pizzas and many more. The slices are super affordable as well! The pizza was outstanding!! The cheese on it was so creamy and decadent. It was perfectly crispy and had amazing flavor. Honestly probably one of the best pizza slices I've ever had. They have a big variety so anyone can find something they like. The food was delicious, just a little pricey. The chicken parm Stromboli was really good and a nice portion for the price. The buffalo wings were not spicy, decent sized and had a buttery flavor and not very crispy but were good. The wings seem a little pricey for 6 wings for $9. The fried zucchini was VERY good and we even had others in our group try them who are health conscious and picky what they eat and they even loved them. The cheese slice had an oregano flavor to it, maybe it's the sauce. I felt like the individual slices were kind of small in comparison to pizza places like Slices in Tempe and even Costco slices. While walking downtown, we found this little place tucked behind some much bigger stores and restaurants. This place is small so the only a couple of tables, but they have so many different types of pizzas and other meals to choose from! We really loved the Buffalo chicken fries. We were IMMEDIATELY put off by the service though. The short haired kid trying to grow a mustache who was behind the counter was sooooo off putting. He didn't like being interrupted and didn't want to answer any questions. I observed him with everyone else too, and it was like he hated being there. He didn't tell us our beers were ready. I had to tell my boyfriend to retrieve them from the counter, and he did not crack a smile ONCE. We got the meat lovers pizza and the fried zucchini. They weren't terrible considering it was all just reheated. Not the best, not the worst. Listen, I get it. Working sucks. I work 2 jobs and one is where I pick up trash. Honestly this is my daughter's favorite pizza place in AZ. She loves/lives for "beach style" pizza, like we get in Massachusetts. This hits the spot for her, to get a slice. Low key establishment. On the "Godfather" pizza we didn't care for the large chunks of peppers and there was ham on it which The Godfather isn't supposed to come with. Sausage was eh on flavor and we prefer sausage that is broken up not half ass sliced. Looked and tasted like less quality. Not much cheese and the dough was pedestrian.
