    Oxtail Patty
    Kevin D.

During my visit, I experience good customer service; employees are kind and helpful with navigating the menu. For the most part, I opt for Vegan options--though, I don't even check for any Vegan options when I enter the eatery due to really wanting to try the Oxtail Patty. I really like Oxtail, and I actually have come across a restaurant with a Vegan version of Oxtail which tastes wonderful. The Oxtail Patty is far more savory than sweet though offers a barbecue-ish sweet flavor that is not heavy though sharp and subtle with each bite. The Oxtail Patty is hot! If seeking to eat more so immediately than not, I recommend using a fork and knife. The Oxtail Patty is quite tasty and appetizing. Observing the innards of the Oxtail Patty, of my order, I wonder of the appearance of the innards, might the Oxtail Patty be a fusion of Oxtail and Ground Beef? Thereafter eating the Oxtail Patty, I feel like I might be able to eat between ten and fifty more Oxtail Patties upon leaving the store. The accompanying sauce smells of a French dressing though the flavor is of a different smooth light sweetness. The air of the establishment is quite clean and clear. The eatery accepts different forms of payment.

    Boneless jerk chicken meal

Grove grill makes decent boneless jerk chicken. The last dish I ordered from here was the Rasta Pasta with boneless jerk-chicken due to the raving reviews on the app..But me being a Brooklyn native, I of course compare every restaurant's Rasta pasta to Footprints's Rasta pasta. If you're from Brooklyn, you already know!! Footprints makes thee best rasta pasta!! GG's Rasta pasta is average in my opinion.. maybe if they use less cream and added a little bit more spice (jerk seasoning) to it, it would be better. It was extremely milky and lacked that hint of necessary spiciness that a good Rasta Pasta should have.. However, I wouldn't mind trying other dishes from here.

    Small Oxtail Platter

My second time to The Grove Grill and it was yet again perfection! These folks know what they're doing in the kitchen and just don't miss! This time I had a small Oxtail Platter and baaaaby, those oxtails were fall off the bone tender, the rice & peas were perfectly cooked and the cabbage balanced it all out. Oh and they asked if I wanted gravy on the rice & peas and there wasn't an additional charge (for those who know, it's a running joke that asking for gravy, especially oxtail gravy on anything at a Caribbean restaurant is kinda taboo unless you're willing to pay an additional $500 lol). The portion was huge for a small order so I literally have half leftover for dinner tonight which makes me a very happy woman! I'll be returning because I still need to try their oxtail cheesesteak and their Rasta Pasta!

Definitely order ahead and bring your own bag. I had the oxtail beef patty and it was amazing. I think that's the way to go. The large oxtail plate for $29 doesn't give you much oxtails and the cabbage was lacking flavor and tasted u def cooked, the Mac and cheese is outstanding. Bring cash for a discount t

Yesterday was my first time ordering and the food was excellent. I added plantains to my order and they gave me two small pieces, which was a little disappointing, but I won't complain because the food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be ordering again.

Food is delicious. Good portions. Oxtail is a must try. Rasta Pasta is delicious. Jamaican Beverages for purchase which is a great ad. I drive over 20 mins to get here. Well worth the drive. Homemade Jamaican food.

I ordered boneless jerk chicken with rice & peas and plantains. It was delicious, spicy not sweet, and plentiful. I took one star off because they forgot my beef patty. But I would definitely order from here again

Boneless jerk chicken Beef patty Kola champaign

Came here on Wednesday for lunch. Ordered the boneless jerk chicken, a beef patty, and a kola champaign. Everything came up to $22. The chicken was good and spicy, the patty was good as well. I would come back again.

Nothing but great things to say about this place! As soon as I walked in it smelled wonderful. It was clean which is a huge plus. The service is excellent, friendly and attentive. Food came out reasonably fast for being busy. Once we got home, everything was delicious! Flavorful, sweet plantains were great, meat was tender, Rice was nice and soft, not mushy. My picky 4 year old even wanted some oxtails and rice! I also ordered a chicken patty which I ate on the way home, dough was soft and the filling was super flavorful! Food was so good we ordered a couple trays for a prom send off

    Oxtail Patty Deluxe!
    Rosemond G.

Another great spot that opened up in Bloomfield this year. This area has some real diversity in food and all within walking distance, which I am very grateful for. The Grove Grill offers some excellent Jamaican comfort cuisine with quite an extensive menu. I was told the oxtail patty deluxe is the way to go, so I got that and some sweet potato fries, which I was happy to learn are made to order. The oxtail patty deluxe was top-notch. Every bite was consistent and flavorful, held together by a sweet coco bread bun. It's definitely a filling option and for less than $12. The sweet potato fries had great flavor and good seasoning. I wish they were crispier, though, as they were mostly on the soggier side. Overall, I was satisfied and would be happy to return and explore the menu further. Thanks for the food!

Everything was fine but I had a weird encounter I want to share in case others have also encountered this. Upon entry, I told the lady at the receptionist desk that I was dining solo indoors. She told me they were short on staff and had to order and pay with her before seating. First time dining here and didn't know how busy it was since the dining area was on the other side of the wall. Fine... no problem. Upon sitting, I noticed there were only two other tables and most of the tables were empty. There appeared to be two male servers tending to the dining area.. Food and coffee came out in good time and the server who delivered it was friendly. After I sat and paid, I saw three other tables who came and were sat - all receiving normal table service. (I.e waiter taking orders, pay at the end.) I don't want to assume anything but would suggest the restaurant look at their practices and either exercise them across all patrons to avoid causing anyone to feel singled out... Food and coffee were good.

We had asked her how long because we didn't have a lot of time and they was a little busy and we were going to go somewhere else and try it another time but She told us she would get it out soon . She put the order right and it did come out soon. It is very nice and interesting in there. Small area , resembles small boutique ,that had some very nice things.

The spinach however was maybe the best I've had. Not sure how they made it so good but wasn't simply with garlic. I had a piece of the branzino and thought it was also tasty with a nice fried crunch. The iced tea was perfectly caffeinated but maybe a tad small. It is supposedly unlimited but I didn't take advantage of that. The restrooms were also clean. I just wish they had some lounge chairs in there. Service was fast and diner style. Get what you need and get out of there. No one was rude, but no one was overly friendly. It's cozy, small, has warm décor, friendly staff, just enough seating, and the music overhead was chef's kiss. And bonus: it's a Black-owned business, which I will always support. We ordered a small iced coffee with oat milk and sugar, an iced chai latte, the grilled cheese with arugula, and the egg platter. Everything was pretty good -- I wasn't blown away, but it was solid and seasoned well. I really wanted to try the French toast because I've heard so many good things, but they told me it would be a 30-minute wait. Our food ended up taking about 20 minutes anyway, so honestly, I probably should've just held on and waited for it. Next time! Prices are what you'd expect for a coffee shop in the suburbs of West Orange. We lucked out with a parking spot right in front, but parking in that area can definitely be tricky. They also sell Harper's Café merch -- t-shirts, sweatshirts, and quarter zips. I'm definitely going back to try the French toast and the pancakes because I saw several people ordering them, so they must be worth it. This is a great place to hang out, read a book, get some work done, chat with a friend, or vibe solo. Harper's Café gives you all the good feels, and I'll absolutely be returning. One note: the menu is limited, and not everything you see online may be available that day -- just something to keep in mind.

Had my husband taste it, and he immediately agreed that something was wrong with it. The plastic utensils were such a turn off. We're dining in, is it too much of a hassle to give your customers actual silverware?? Got fish and grits. Potatoes, toast and eggs. Honestly, the only flavorful item on my plate was the potatoes and eggs. Was upcharged to add cheese to my grits, but the cheese never melted. Pre shredded bagged cheese is what they have on hand it seems. My husband ordered shrimp and grits and asked for a side of eggs, but that arrived 15 minutes after we all received our food. Not sure why it took so long so cook up 2 eggs for him. He was also disappointed in his brunch. It was obvious they used frozen bagged shrimp. Probably the 26-30/lb because the shrimp were really small and had the nerve to be overcooked. Workers just seemed disheveled. Not sure what happened to Vondas but it fell off for sure.
