Run don't walk to this delicious Jamaican spot!! I'm rarely in North Jersey nowadays after moving to Somerset County about 5 years ago. Jamaican food just doesn't hit the same in Central Jersey, so I had to try this spot. I asked for recommendations at the counter and she said the oxtail cheesesteak, oxtail patty sandwich, and the empanadas are really popular. I ordered the oxtail cheesesteak and 2 empanadas (jerk chicken and oxtail). OOOOOHHHHHH THEY WERE ALL DELICIOUS!!! Such juicy, tender, and flavorful meat in the empanadas and cheese steak accompanied by their "grove sauce". It was so good that I had to buy a bottle of the sauce to take home! Everything was served piping hot and fresh. The staff was also super nice and the dining space was really clean. Highly recommend!!

The Grove Grill Part II 143 Grove Street Bloomfield, NJ 07003 Sorrel Smoothie Oxtail Cheesesteak Jerk Chicken Loaded Fries I previously posted about this locally owned Jamaican spot located near the intersection of Grove Street and Bloomfield Avenue only footsteps away from the Bloomfield Plaza strip mall. My last visit was "Jamaican" me so happy that I returned to explore some more menu items, especially a beverage from the new juice bar Owner Susan recently introduced. Sorrel Smoothie: This chilled, refreshing smoothie is blended with banana, coconut, ginger and sorrel, which contributes to its reddish appearance. The ginger added a mild kick. If you wish to add a nutritional supplement, feel free to add 1 or 2 tablespoons of Sea Moss Gel into the beverage. This healthy algae is not included with the drink, but it can be purchased separately. Oxtail Cheesesteak: This Grove original is topped with sautéed onions, blended american cheese, with mounds of deboned oxtail on a soft, doughy 8 inch sub roll. It doesn't have the most cinematic appearance, but the taste is out of this world. There is no question that I cleared this down to the last bite. Jerk Chicken Loaded Fries: This side was so fully "loaded" with toppings that it practically eats like a meal. It included hearty chunks of jerk chicken, blended American cheese with a stack of fries hidden beneath. These fries are "loaded" with ultimate flavor and comfort. Anything and everything can be supplemented with Susan's sweet, spicy, and savory secret Grove Sauce. If you enjoyed it as much as I did, full size bottles are available for purchase. The sauce is perishable and must be stored in the fridge. In addition to Susan making her original homemade sauce, she also published her first book. Built Under Pressure is a business guidebook containing informative tips and advice for anyone starting their own business. Copies are available for sale in the restaurant or on Amazon. Indoor seating is limited to four chairs, but there are a few outdoor picnic tables. Show your appreciation by posting a review on Google Review, Yelp, or both; the choice is yours. Overall, I had another priceless experience. Thank you Owner Susan and staff for making me feel right at home. #TheGroveGrill #BuiltUnderPressure #grovesauce #oxtailcheesesteak #JerkChickenLoadedFries #sorrelsmoothie

I've been wanting to try this place out for about a year now so I wanted to love the food. I get real excited to try Caribbean food in NJ because I'm from Brooklyn and it's hard to find some great oxtails. Restaurant reminds me of a corner store bodega in Brooklyn. It's very clean and I love the display of the menus. It was about 12:30 pm on a Saturday so there was a nice flow of people coming and going but the wait was not long. The deluxe patty was delicious. I think having everything between the coco bread set it off. My boyfriend was not happy with the Rasta Pasta and curry chicken. It was definitely lacking flavor and the peppers were not cooked. Again I'm from Brooklyn and I've had some good Rasta Pasta, I also know good food. Babe even stated that mines taste way better so I had to remix his plate when I got home. As for my oxtail platter it lacked flavor as well. Cooked to perfection but no flavor and spices.

Grove grill makes decent boneless jerk chicken. The last dish I ordered from here was the Rasta Pasta with boneless jerk-chicken due to the raving reviews on the app..But me being a Brooklyn native, I of course compare every restaurant's Rasta pasta to Footprints's Rasta pasta. If you're from Brooklyn, you already know!! Footprints makes thee best rasta pasta!! GG's Rasta pasta is average in my opinion.. maybe if they use less cream and added a little bit more spice (jerk seasoning) to it, it would be better. It was extremely milky and lacked that hint of necessary spiciness that a good Rasta Pasta should have.. However, I wouldn't mind trying other dishes from here.

My second time to The Grove Grill and it was yet again perfection! These folks know what they're doing in the kitchen and just don't miss! This time I had a small Oxtail Platter and baaaaby, those oxtails were fall off the bone tender, the rice & peas were perfectly cooked and the cabbage balanced it all out. Oh and they asked if I wanted gravy on the rice & peas and there wasn't an additional charge (for those who know, it's a running joke that asking for gravy, especially oxtail gravy on anything at a Caribbean restaurant is kinda taboo unless you're willing to pay an additional $500 lol). The portion was huge for a small order so I literally have half leftover for dinner tonight which makes me a very happy woman! I'll be returning because I still need to try their oxtail cheesesteak and their Rasta Pasta!

Definitely order ahead and bring your own bag. I had the oxtail beef patty and it was amazing. I think that's the way to go. The large oxtail plate for $29 doesn't give you much oxtails and the cabbage was lacking flavor and tasted u def cooked, the Mac and cheese is outstanding. Bring cash for a discount t

Yesterday was my first time ordering and the food was excellent. I added plantains to my order and they gave me two small pieces, which was a little disappointing, but I won't complain because the food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be ordering again.

Food is delicious. Good portions. Oxtail is a must try. Rasta Pasta is delicious. Jamaican Beverages for purchase which is a great ad. I drive over 20 mins to get here. Well worth the drive. Homemade Jamaican food.

I ordered boneless jerk chicken with rice & peas and plantains. It was delicious, spicy not sweet, and plentiful. I took one star off because they forgot my beef patty. But I would definitely order from here again

Came here on Wednesday for lunch. Ordered the boneless jerk chicken, a beef patty, and a kola champaign. Everything came up to $22. The chicken was good and spicy, the patty was good as well. I would come back again.

Nothing but great things to say about this place! As soon as I walked in it smelled wonderful. It was clean which is a huge plus. The service is excellent, friendly and attentive. Food came out reasonably fast for being busy. Once we got home, everything was delicious! Flavorful, sweet plantains were great, meat was tender, Rice was nice and soft, not mushy. My picky 4 year old even wanted some oxtails and rice! I also ordered a chicken patty which I ate on the way home, dough was soft and the filling was super flavorful! Food was so good we ordered a couple trays for a prom send off

    Oxtail Patty Deluxe!
    Rosemond G.

Another great spot that opened up in Bloomfield this year. This area has some real diversity in food and all within walking distance, which I am very grateful for. The Grove Grill offers some excellent Jamaican comfort cuisine with quite an extensive menu. I was told the oxtail patty deluxe is the way to go, so I got that and some sweet potato fries, which I was happy to learn are made to order. The oxtail patty deluxe was top-notch. Every bite was consistent and flavorful, held together by a sweet coco bread bun. It's definitely a filling option and for less than $12. The sweet potato fries had great flavor and good seasoning. I wish they were crispier, though, as they were mostly on the soggier side. Overall, I was satisfied and would be happy to return and explore the menu further. Thanks for the food!

Sure, I can just not get the side of bacon or sausage - but since those sides are $4-$5 - I wish they would adjust the pricing. Eggs, with no meat should not cost $20. Anyway - I know - just don't eat there, and I generally don't anymore. But it's a shame and an easy fix to appeal to everyone. And an expensive proposition for non-meat eaters.

Front of the house is more restaurant but in the back is a library/sitting area where you can read a book you brought or one that they have available (see pics). My husband ordered a hot chocolate with oat milk, rich and comforting, and my mom had a chai with oat milk. She enjoyed the flavor overall. Food-wise, my husband ordered the chorizo omelette and was very happy with it--hearty, well-seasoned, and satisfying. I had the salmon salad, which was delicious. The dressing was balanced and flavorful, the greens fresh, and the salmon was cooked and seasoned really well. I will note that the salmon portion was a bit smaller than what I'd seen in some Yelp photos, but the quality absolutely made up for it. My mom had the club sandwich, which was generously sized and filling. She also wasn't a fan of the soft-boiled egg that came with her dish, but that's more a personal preference--she's firmly in the "well-done only" camp. Our little one had eggs and fries and was clearly living her best life. A sweet highlight of the visit was when the owner kindly gave her a cookie on the house--such a small gesture, but it really made the experience feel warm and personal. The space itself feels like a true community gathering spot--comfortable, welcoming, and easy to settle into. It's a great place to work or linger, with free WiFi and a relaxed atmosphere that invites you to stay awhile. Overall, this spot feels cozy, thoughtfully run, and rooted in care. The food is well-prepared, the flavors are intentional, and the hospitality really stands out. We'd absolutely come back for brunch and a longer stay next time.

Had my husband taste it, and he immediately agreed that something was wrong with it. The plastic utensils were such a turn off. We're dining in, is it too much of a hassle to give your customers actual silverware?? Got fish and grits. Potatoes, toast and eggs. Honestly, the only flavorful item on my plate was the potatoes and eggs. Was upcharged to add cheese to my grits, but the cheese never melted. Pre shredded bagged cheese is what they have on hand it seems. My husband ordered shrimp and grits and asked for a side of eggs, but that arrived 15 minutes after we all received our food. Not sure why it took so long so cook up 2 eggs for him. He was also disappointed in his brunch. It was obvious they used frozen bagged shrimp. Probably the 26-30/lb because the shrimp were really small and had the nerve to be overcooked. Workers just seemed disheveled. Not sure what happened to Vondas but it fell off for sure.
