Below is the text I received from the owner after calling and asking someone to come look at an issue we have after we hired them to clean and reseal our marble shower floor. Our issue has nothing to do with the cleaning of the marble or the color of the marble. We now have approximately a 20 inch area with bumps or dots, like the sealant wasn't rubbed in or something like that. He would understand it is way more than "6 dots" if he had taken the time to come take a look and understand the issue. When I spoke to him on the phone he was so rude, defensive and unprofessional, I hung up. The second picture is after I hung up and he texted me. I wish the area was only 1 square inch! Know who you do business with! I will say Nazareth, the technician, who came to our house was very nice. Just think it was an oversight that could have easily been addressed if he had taken the time to understand and cared about customer satisfaction in our case.

Cracking

An expensive, temporary solution. The master shower had mold along the floor edges. They steamed the mold and re caulked and assured me that this was a solution to my mold problem. Within a couple of months the mold returned. Despite cleaning with a variety of products, I couldn't keep the mold from growing. I asked The Grout Medic for recommendations for cleaning products and they do not recommend a product. I've tried more natural products and more harsh products, too no avail. Plus, there was an area between the shower and the tub that they damaged the caulking They came back out and caulked again, and repaired the area that was damaged (which they're saying they did for "free" but they wouldn't have had to do if they hadn't knicked it during their service the first time)..The mold returned, they came out again and replaced caulking. This is a process by the way. You can't use your shower for a couple of days so when they have to be there 3 times within the year, it's not convenient. The mold still returns, and the warranty is only for a year. I would've never paid hundreds of dollars for a temporary solution. So disappointing. I'm no better than where I started, except I'm out $648. They also claim the caulking only cost $165.75, but their quote to replace the caulking again is $450. After a year had gone by, I kept calling trying to get ahold of Bruce for a month to discuss how the service was not effective against the mold and that the caulking was peeling up and cracking. Since I wasn't getting anywhere with my calls, I wrote a review. He saw the review and called me very irritated. His response to my review was that "we cannot control how well your shower is cleaned." He said that me writing a review, (after no response for a month but a quote for $450 to call again) was like him writing in Facebook that I'll a terrible person. Mind you I had a very calm tone, I stuck to the facts, yet he was upset with me and in a backhanded way was likening me to a terrible person. I will also say, that I suspect the employee that came out and did the work was not well trained. I can't say for sure what training he had, but he was not very good at caulking. He was very polite though. This was not a solution to my mold problem, and unfortunately it was at my expense. After the way that the owner Bruce spoke to me on the phone, I feel it's important to know that his customer service skills are lacking as well. Read the other one star reviews on other sites. You'll see a pattern.

Grout medic came out to reseal and caulk our 10 year old master bath. Very happy with the entire process. Tim and Parker arrived promptly at 8am as promised. A rarity when it comes to contractors. They thoroughly explained the procedure, consulted for opinion during the process and matched the tile grout perfectly. Cleaned up throughly afterwards as well. Highly recommend.

Had $2300 worth of work done on a 12 year old shower. New pan, mud bed, and tile. 72 hours after work was completed, water pools around drain for up to 24 hours. The finish work looked great and we were excited about getting our shower back. Scheduled via a call and e-mail for warranty fix. Work was scheduled for 3 weeks, I scheduled the day off to be there and with 2 phones, voicemail and e-mail never did they contact me, but they cancelled. Only way I found out was a courtesy call from me to confirm the day before. Nope. They state they left VM but smart phones log every call and VM...nothing. Maybe they can get to this work 3 weeks from now, maybe? The issue is with customer service and committing to a work date. It goes both ways. Essentially they are saying my time isn't important. Be aware and ensure not to assume everything is good to go. So we are forced to put a towel down after showers and mold has already started growing because of the sitting water. Update: got back inside of 1week fixed in one day. Satisfied. Interesting Grout Medic hasn't even called to find out if the shower is still holding water. I will bump 1 star, but be cautious when communicating with them.

I have contacted this company twice for quotes and information and have never received a response. Not customer centered.

Bruce came to provide the quote and was very informative and professional. Today Cris Wells caulked my shower and did an excellent job.

UPDATE: Just wanted to add a chronological update on where…read morethings are now since I posted my original review - a request by Ron. On Apr 20 - Ron asked me if I want him to send the invoice for the remaining $250 and I reiterated that he still had things to fix as he promised to earn that money (Also pointed that out in the invoice he sent and I paid Apr 14 on the same day). On Apr 21 - Ron replied "Such a sad mistake" On Apr 22 - I receive an invoice for $250 final payment (Ron later claims that was auto generated) Apr 23-Apr 29 - (7 full days of no communication from Ron) Apr 30 - Ron sent me a message that he ordered a new box for the cabinet to make it work - he mentions my original review. Then says "I suppose I'll send the box back. But I really didn't think you were like that man. I wish you guys the best". Followed by "You going to update that?" a few mins later. I did not see his message until the weekend and was going to respond during the week. May 4&5 - We start communicating via yelp chat, communicating with Ron still difficult. Will not include all the details, but in summary the good thing is he has acknowledged the alignment issue and that I do not need to pay the $250 until the alignment issue with the sink is addressed (Reason I am bumping the rating to 3 stars). I in return will be waiting for a written proposal from him on the work that needs to be done to address the alignment and a timeline from him. May 8 - Ron replied back to my review update with a claim that "This review was posted before the job was complete. As noted by the reviewer themselves, they were instructed to withhold the final $250 until the last minor alignment touch-up was finished. That was a professional courtesy--not a refusal to finish the job. It ensured the client had leverage and zero risk. We never asked for full payment before the work was completed.". This would have been true if he did not turn around and said otherwise on April 15. I am attaching a screenshot of a txt message from Ron where he claims that the work was already completed. Original Review posted Apr 20, 2025: Found out about them on yelp with all 5 star reviews - now all of those gone? Scope of work was Repair cabinet, floor, faucet, subfloor, remediation, and other items damaged due to water leak. They quoted a price of 4-5k for all the work. So on the good part.. work looks good on floor replacement of 17 boards (boards were extras from original install), repaired cabinet box looked good pre-install. They were able to start work immediately on the same day which a few other companies were not able to do. Now on the bad part.. really bad communication/scheduling - Alan did most of the work but comms went through Ron. There were multiple times where I expected them to show up but they never did and getting clarity on scheduling was really bad. I understand people get sick and other possible life events but at the very least let people know you won't be able to make in the original day/time provided. In addition the final price (5750) was provided via txt on the day they were supposed to finish up, Alan and another person was in the house trying to complete the work but did not mention anything while the new price came from Ron which I did not see until the next day. I undestand that projects overshoot cost but the way they did it without confirmation and timing was really bad. Now the worst part is they refuse to fix an alignment issue on the sink based on how they installed it. Even after Ron agreed that Alan will fix it (holding 250 back until he does) on the same day they completed install. They then said it was because of the new faucet (It is not). Now they are insisting that work was properly done and to pay the remaining 250. Neutral part - they ended up not having to replace the subfloor because things dried up pretty good supposedly after they ran the dehumidifier unit under the crawl space for a few days and then moved it up to the kitchen for a few more days but the floor boards were glued down which made a labor/cost a wash according to Ron. Things look weird on how they redid the sink support and plumbing but I guess it works (planning to get things inspected)? Originally told about a week to fix everything but work (excluding alignment issue) finished in a little over 2 weeks still not too bad hence neutral on my end. On hindsight, I should have insisted on a written contract which would have brought clarity on scope and timing of work or even a t&m contract instead.

In both instances, they were able to dry out the damage and prevent further damage. The team does a good job assessing the situation and placing the appropriate equipment to address wet areas. I highly recommend Top Dog Restoration if you have any water damage.

We had a pipe leak that started in a closet and quickly turned into far more work than we ever expected. What began as a small issue became a full first-floor restoration -- new flooring throughout, drywall replacement, painting, and new trim. Needless to say, it was a much bigger project than we were prepared for. We initially hired another restoration company and spent over a month struggling to get updates and track down invoices. They even told us we didn't need to replace our bedroom carpet -- but when Carolina Restoration took over, they immediately recommended replacing it to properly mitigate the risk of mold. We are SO thankful they did. That level of attention and care made all the difference!! From day one, the Carolina Restoration team made the entire process seamless and organized. Our project manager, Sam, was personable, knowledgeable, and truly put us at ease throughout. They coordinated with ANS Painting Company, and Alex and his team went above and beyond -- not only repainting walls beautifully but even painting our baseboards to match our kitchen cabinets! The attention to detail was incredible, and our home truly looks better than ever! From start to finish, Carolina Restoration exceeded every expectation. They kept us informed, prioritized our comfort, and somehow created a sense of normalcy while our home was under construction. We are endlessly grateful to Sam, Alex, and both teams for their professionalism, kindness, and thoroughness. You won't find a better restoration company in Raleigh -- seriously, this is your sign to hire Carolina Restoration Services ASAP!!
