I hired Greg to renovate a half bath that had a toilet that leaked, damaging the sub floor and…read morehardwoods in the hall. The first red flag was Greg's cartoonish quote for work. Greg is a smooth talker and made it seem like it would all be good. He said payment would be due upon completion although there was no mention of this in the "contract." Turns out "Remove vanity and install custom vanity" means ripping out the large existing vanity, sink, and huge mirror and then popping down the pedestal sink THAT I BOUGHT. Period. Red flag #2: When I asked Greg about the massive drywall damage, he said "Is it in the contract?" The agreement does say he does not cover drywall repair, but this was literally left in a demo state. On Day 2, while the entire floor was ripped up with the crawlspace exposed, Greg asked me for a check. I said I planned to pay him with a credit card and it would take me a few days to move money around to give him the equivalent of cash. Day 3 he walked off the job claiming non-payment. After I calmly explained that I could not be in non-payment because no payment was due, Greg came back the next day like nothing happened... All of the insulations under the half bath was wet so it had to go. Greg did not want anything to do with replacing it. I went out and bought insulation and installed it myself. Either Greg or his plumber, Drew, cracked the first sink basin during install. Luckily Home Depot replaced it with no questions and Drew came back and installed the new one. Drew was actually great. I did all of the leg work for the return, so don't expect Greg to actually stand by his work or take responsibility for mistakes. Greg made it clear he does not do hardwood floor repair and I was fine with that. Turns out, my hardwood flooring guy discovered that there was a strange strip of plywood sub floor installed to fill a gap that was not actually supported. We found out why when he pulled it up. See photos. Don't expect structural repairs to actually connect to other structural members. Don't expect your tile OR subfloor to be level or flat. Don't expect a professional job.

Greg and his other worker were very efficient and even though we ran into a few issues (old plumbing and uneven walls), Greg was able to troubleshoot the issues and did a fantastic job with this renovation. I ordered wall tile and floor tile using the measurements from the contractor. I am not experienced with tile so needed to rely on the salesman at the Roseville, MN location to calculate the amount needed. The contractor ended up with a medical issue and we missed the return window, which yes, was clearly explained to me. When the project was wrapping up I discovered I had 18 boxes of left over tile, more than double the 16 boxes used. The salesman had also ordered another 6-8 boxes that were on back order that I never picked up. All told my order included 24+ boxes of tile that were not needed. I am now stuck with $1820 dollars worth of tile they will not take back due to the salesman's error. I do not recommend the Tile Shop to anyone after my experience. I made 4 calls to customer service before anyone got back to me, and then it was by e-mail.
