I had a VERY sticky exterior door which bent the metal on the bottom. Ray was honest in his assessment saying he would try options to fix it rather than replace it - which would have been costly. Ray Lota is the owner of Pro Assist. He is a wonderful handyman who goes above and beyond to deliver quality service in a timely manner. I reached out to him some weeks ago. We arranged a meet and greet where we walked through my house and I pointed out what I would like done. In some cases he steered me to a less expensive option than I had considered. We agreed that I should gather what I needed and he would return and take care of everything in one visit. Ray showed up on time, equipped with everything he needed for my multitude of different tasks. In about three hours, he planed three doors, hung three curtain rods and curtains, put up a hand towel ring, removed an in-the-way towel bar, moved some heavy items for me, assembled a TV stand from Wayfair, assembled some exercise equipment I had moved cross country, and helped me finish assembling a bathroom organizer (another Wayfair item) that was not fitting the way I needed it too - was too wobbly - and he used his expertise to fix what might have been an expensive waste of money. At the end, he cleaned up. He swept up after he had planed three doors in my garage and I could not find any indication that a saw and a lot of wood chips had recently occupied the space. He was careful about his equipment, coiled his cords and made sure everything was back in his truck before sitting down and calculating his fee for his three hours. He charges by the job and his fee was very competitive with what other handymen had quoted me - for less work - and many weeks out. I look forward to hiring Ray for my next project. read more

I'm updating my review for Ray because he really is awesome! His prices continue to be the most competitive for a handy man in the area. He prices it based on the job and doesn't just have a set per hour price. He is also always quick to respond and can get you on his schedule fairly easily. Although we can hang curtain rods on our own, this rod was going on wallpaper and my husband has a knack of measuring once and putting screws in the wall twice. Obviously with wallpaper there is no room for error. We also had a large 48" mirror hung that weighed at least 50 pounds. I gave Ray super specific measurements for each on where I wanted them. I couldn't remember what I said and had to keep consulting my paper, Ray remembered first shot and double checked with me to be 100% and off he went. The mirror itself was super tricky to hang as everything had to line up perfectly for the mirror to sit correctly on the wall. Then to get such a big piece up and aligned isn't an easy feat. If my husband and I had tried it, it probably would have taken three hours and we would still have had to call Ray. Save yourself the arguments and the stress and just call Ray, you won't be disappointed! read more

Ray is a great all-around Mr. Fix-it!! I called him to make some repairs on furniture that was damaged in our recent move. A chair that had a loose leg, an end table that needed to be re-assembled after several screws were lost and not easy to find locally. It was a bit of a puzzle to put back together, but Ray had the right materials, and professionally assembled the table good as new. He also reattached the back of our entertainment center after back detached. Using furniture screws, he reattached the back, and it is more secure than when we purchased the piece.
