Earl put together a desk and queen bed for me. I emailed him about the work and didn't hear back for a few days. When I finally heard from him, we agreed he would come at 10:30AM on Mon. He had to change to 12:15PM the day before, so I agreed. Once here, he put together everything, but I was a bit worried with him carrying heavy parts of the furniture down the steps because he is a bit older and doesn't seem to be in the best shape. I didn't want him to fall going down the steps. He put everything together and it all looked good. He quickly left after I payed. read more

Earl is amazing! Friendly, professional and so detail oriented. I'm always adding to my "Earl list". Treats my home as his own when handling even the smallest job. Thinks of things that would never occur to me. I couldn't be more impressed with his work (and his rates are upfront and fair). He takes initiative to troubleshoot and I trust him completely. Have recommended him to family and friends and he never disappoints. I feel very fortunate to have found him. read more

I have used Handyman Earl's services on a wide variety of needs. I have found him to be consistently responsive, dependable, easy to work with, and very thorough. Best of all--a real added bonus--he is extremely creative at figuring out how to help me accomplish goals that were apparently very difficult and/or challenging. His rates are upfront and fair. I recommend him 100%. I enthusiastically give him five stars. Barbara I. read more

I contacted Earl to help me install soft close hinges on my kitchen cabinets as well do some caulking work and fix a pull out trash can drawer. I will say that he did go above and beyond to help me find the right hinges for a fair price, and he seemed like such a nice guy! He came back a few weeks later with his caulking man (George) and also to fix some uneven cabinet doors from when he installed the soft close hinges. We went through the house and I showed him and George the areas I wanted to be re-caulked: around the kitchen counters, a powder room sink, upstairs tub and bathroom, and laundry room sink. Surprisingly, they were done in less than 90 minutes! I was outside when they finished and were getting ready to leave. Probably my mistake, but I trusted that he did a good job since he talked up George's caulking work so much. I should have gone in and taken a look myself. He didn't ask me to take a look at the work before leaving (a habit that good contractors should have, in my opinion). When I took a closer look after they left, I was very disappointed. The caulking in the kitchen was messy looking-lumpy and edges were not smooth. There were areas that had dirt stuck in the caulking and there was caulk on my tile and cabinets. Then I noticed that he overlooked the powder room. I texted him and told him so and also commented on how the caulking job was not very neat. He replied that he didn't know about the powder room, that it "wasn't on his list". We then talked on the phone, and he was incredibly defensive and insisted that I didn't ask him to caulk the powder room. Ridiculous since George had gone in there with me and even pulled some of the old caulking off and left it on the sink! He just never went back to finish the job. Earl insisted that it wasn't on his "list", but his "list" is only in his mind. He doesn't write anything down! Anyways, he defended George, saying that his work was "perfect". I was taken aback by his defensiveness and unwillingness to admit any wrongdoing. He spoke in an annoyed and rude tone to me. If a customer is unhappy with your work then you apologize and try to see what you can do to fix it. You don't get defensive and rude and basically make him/her feel like they are wrong to complain. Sheesh. I'm very sorry it turned out this way, but I'm back to looking for a new handyman. read more

Earl is everything I look for in a handyman. He's skillful at a wide variety of tasks. He quotes a fair price. He shows up on time or texts me to say he may run just a little late. He does beautiful work. He repaired some storm damage to a part of my under deck siding so you couldn't tell anything had ever happened to it. On a second visit, he did a thorough pressure wash of all the above-ground deck surfaces (floor boards, railings, stairs, and bannisters) so the whole area looked good as new. Along the way, he kindly helped me with a few small tasks that, while it took him just a few minutes, would have been difficult for me. When he finished working, he left everything neat and clean. On top of all that, he's a very nice guy. I am so glad to have found him and will gladly call on him again whenever I need help with home-related tasks or projects. read more

Earl was prompt in responding to my inquiry and scheduled a visit to review my projects within 24 hours. He seemed knowledgeable about virtually everything you could need to do for a house, and had good suggestions for what parts would be needed and where I should consider placing things (light fixture, ceiling mounted bike hoist, and outdoor shed) to ensure a smooth installation and better long-term ease of use. His pricing was very reasonable for the work and he got everything done quickly. Will definitely continue using his services. read more

The explanation from Earl isn't true. How could I have misunderstood him saying that he'd get the estimate to me that afternoon, when that is exactly what he said and why wouldn't he give an estimate sooner than later to secure the job? The purpose of him coming to look at the job was to give an estimate. When I contacted Earl, I told him the scope of work that I wanted done. He agreed to come look and give me an estimate. When I asked if he'd take the job, he said that he wasn't sure because he usually takes larger jobs. Under the description of a "handyman", no job is too small, which is why people hire handymen to do the jobs that larger contractors will not. Now, he claims that he was concerned about the molding. He could have just said that instead of ignoring me but there were other aspects that he could do like the painting, repair the nail pops, install the mantle, etc. I have no issue with him refusing the job. In this economy, there are plenty of handymen who want small projects like installing fans, putting up decks, railing and painting. As the proprietor of his business, he can pick and choose who he wants to service but I do have an issue with him attempting to publicly gaslight me to save face when he simply didn't honor his word. read more

Earl is our go to guy, fixing, improving and remodeling our home and properties. He's more than a handyman, he has such great good taste, great ideas and smart solutions that we wouldn't consider starting any job without his input. Reliable, honest and funny I'm worried about him getting too busy after writing this review but he deserves more than 5 stars in our book. Just always reserve time for us Earl. read more
