Noah was a great server. Good recommendations, service, and attentiveness. The food was great. We had 8 meals: grouper, steak frites, filet mignon, and the Waygu burger. There is potential here but I was disappointed. The online menu listed lobster thermidor but it was not on the actual menu. So I ordered the salmon en croute and it was not good. I thought the creamed spinach was on the side but it was en croute too, which would have been ok except the whole thing was drenched in this super sweet berry sauce. Spinach and cheese and sugary sauce don't go together. Plus it was very heavy. The sherry bisque, bread, and salad were good. Husband's chicken was meh. Way too expensive for meh food! Service was excellent but I prefer the food and atmosphere at Horizons or the Terrace or even Jailhouse. read more

Although we ate in the Palms, the food came from the grill. The crab bisque was flavorful with chunks of crab and just enough of a sherry drizzle on top. Yum! The jewels of the sea dish a bit on the small side;however, id rather have a flavorful dish than a filling one and this one big on flavor. Only complaint was there were only two small pieces of crab. We love staying at Bald Head Island, but have been very disappointed at the options for eating out on the island. The two clubs on the island, The Bald Head Island Club and The Shoals Club each have their own restaurants. Since our beach rental came with complimentary passes to the BHI Club, we decided to try it out for dinner one night. Maybe this is where they were hiding the good food on the island, we thought. Unfortunately, the hunt continues. Like another reviewer, we ate in The Palms dining area, but the food all comes from the same kitchen. There are actually several dining areas and we were hoping to eat outside on The Terrace, but it was reserved for a private party. Instead we were seated at a four-top with a view of the croquet court--which served as its own weird entertainment. As I sat, I noticed a puddle on the floor and realized the AC register in the ceiling above our table was dripping water. We should have asked to move to another table, but we decided to just push the table slightly out of the way and ignore it. Our server, Maddie, seemed ok at first, but soon showed her inexperience. On the orders that had options, she didn't ask which we wanted and we had to catch her before she left to clarify. One person ordered the burger, but was not asked how he wanted it cooked (it came well-done). Another annoyance was that the drink menu had two beer sections, one for The Palms and one for The Terrace. All the beers I was interested in were on the Terrace menu, but I was told I couldn't order those beers because we were not seated at The Terrace. Then guess what? Don't put them on the same menu! The one bright spot came with our appetizer, the Hot & Fire Shrimp. It was a commonly-seen row of fried shrimp over coleslaw with a spicy sauce over each. Not bad. The shrimp were cooked right and the sauce was tasty. But then came the wait. When we were seated, there was only one other table with people at it in the whole place. There were a couple guys at the bar. So why it then took at least 45 minutes for us to finally get our food is a mystery. And it was not worth the wait. I got the fish and chips. The fried cod was a greasy mess atop a sad piece of wilted lettuce. The fries were limp and lukewarm. The fish itself was not horrible, but it was overwhelmed by oil-saturated batter that I just had to excavate in order to taste the fish. Some lemon wedges (that I had to ask for after the fact) helped cut through the canola. Looking back, the best part of my meal was the bowl of ketchup. The burger, as mentioned, was well-done and dry. The crab cake sandwich we ordered had a strange chemical preservative flavor and was topped with the some of the sorriest slices of tasteless tomato I've seen. The turkey BLT was also on the dry side, too heavy on the turkey, and needed some kind of sauce or at least a side of mayonnaise. After our food arrived, our server disappeared. She did finally check back once, but seemed unable to make eye contact with us, like she already knew we were not enjoying ourselves. But it also seemed like she didn't really care. Later, trying to get her attention to settle up was so difficult it made us laugh. We actually resorted to just waving our arms (yes, this place forced us to be those people) until another server finally came over and we asked her to tell our server we were done. When our server finally arrived, she didn't ask if we wanted to see the dessert menu (no) and she didn't ask if we wanted any of our half-eaten meals packed up to go (hell no). And as a final insult to injury, we found that an 18% gratuity had already been added to our bill--maybe explaining some of the poor service. So, now we know. If you're reading this and curious like we were, please save yourself the trouble. If we can prevent one other family from having such a disappointing meal experience, then maybe our trip will not have been in vain. read more

The Grille is billed as the primary fine dining establishment at the Club. Our dining experience was anything but fine. Upon being presented with the menu (accompanied by a single sheet of paper listing the featured cocktails), I requested a wine list. The server referred us to the back of the cocktail menu which listed a few wines by the glass. When I inquired whether they had a list of wines by the bottle, she returned with a single sheet of paper with a very limited selection of bottled wines. I requested a bottle of cabernet to be served with the entree. The wine arrived at the appropriate time, but we were not offered either the option of having it decanted, or opened and allowed to breath. On the recommendation of the server, I ordered the Frutti di Mare, which she explained contained shrimp, fish, lobster and a variety of shellfish. The dish was not only poorly seasoned, the only identifiable seafood was shrimp and a small amount of fish. When we were presented with the bill they had added a compulsory 20% tip. Since we had ordered a $150 bottle of wine, we were required to pay a $30 service charge for simply delivering it to the table. We left with the indelible impression that this place has no idea what constitutes a fine dining experience. read more

We were told 45 min wait, ended up being 2 hours. Very poor service. The staff appeared confused about what was going on. Told different things by different people. Then when we were finally seated waited forever for our food to come out. It was laughable. Would not come back again. Such a waste of time. Took 3-4 hours, which made the food taste average at best. read more

One of the worst dinning experiences that I have had in a long time. I really don't know how they can run a club like this. We had 10 people for lunch and it took 1 hour to get our meals (we were one of the only tables at the club). One person never got salad dressing on their meal and another never even received their order. both the server and the kitchen were horrible. I would definitely not recommend eating here. read more

We were at the Peli, the poolside restaurant and we sat at our table for ten minutes with no service so I asked the waitress if we could get our order taken and she said "if it's not fast enough for you, then you should make a to go order downstairs. We didn't want to do that so we continued to wait for another 20 minutes when another group sat down next to us and and the waitress immediately took their order.
