    SWPFTD in the flesh.

Most of the actual reviews I do are for breweries. 180 of them so far. That's just my schtick. But The Grapple will probably be a regular haunt for us. There is a great deck outside with a view of the mountains over the St. Joe. The inside has about 10 tables and a wood stove in the corner for those chilly evenings. TG has some great local beers on tap. SWPFTD and I split a guacamole burger and fries to go with the beers. Yes, we split a burger. I'm trying to drop a few pounds ok? And I'd rather give up half a burger than a beer! Ok, anyway. The burger was really good. The beers were really good, and the young lady working the bar was very friendly. If you are coming through St. Marie's or hanging out for a few days I highly recommend you stop in. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you!

IF you are ever fortunate enough to find yourself in the stunning little town of St Maries, Idaho (and it is pronounced like St. Mary's. I am told the locals will run you out of town if you don't pronounce it right) make sure you stop by the Grapple. We went for lunch on a slow and rainy day during our visit and the food was excellent. It is not an extensive menu but what they have is very good and the beer selection is very respectable. The bartender/server took great care of us and was very friendly. The place is small and basic but the food and drink speak for themselves.

    Brat Burger

This place never fails to impress me. I came for the chicken sandwich, but they were sold out. So I tried Brat Burger - incredible! Sweet, hot, savory , a tomato jalapeno jam that is crazy good !

What a wonderful little gem found in the small town of St. Maries. This bar is a far cry from the typical St Maries bars and restaurant. It is almost something that you'd find in Seattle or otherwise. They have a large bar and many tvs. It's family run and you can tell they really care about their business. They also have pizzas that they cook fresh for you as well as popcorn. You can sit on their little deck outside also. Great place all around, especially for St Maries. Good job guys

    Live music!

I've been going to the Grapple for years, long story short the owners make this place what it is, because they care. It's hands down the best establishment to get a drink or food in St. Maries, maybe even in North Idaho. No smoking is awesome, it's clean, it's inviting and has great service, which is almost impossible to find. I don't live in St. Maries, but I find myself more than willing to make the drive out there for the experience the Grapple offers.

Always a good time - neat decor and fun atmosphere

No signage outside. But a very good hamburger and crispy fries. Long list of beers to.

They Had Jack - 'nuff said…read more... SITREP My cousin Rikka and I wanted whiskey. SETUP I found this store. Simple to find. It's on the main drag of this town, just a few blocks from the hotel we were at. The "Liquor Store." Yes, pretty generic branding, but not out of the norm in a town that also has a restaurant simply signed as "Eats" and also a furniture store called "Furniture Store" a few blocks down. [Creative names don't abound here. They should call it "El Liquor Store" just to kick it up a notch.] She paid for it (I LOVE HER). Probably a few bucks more for a fifth than what I usually pay in Seattle or she pays in L.A. (minus 1-Star), but what can you do when you are hundreds of miles "deep into the stix." [I already had the mixers back in my room.] So there you go. [Some transactions are painfully simple and don't require "fluffy linguistic skills" to relay the ambiance of a room, or the presentation of an entree.] CONVENIENT FOR THE WRONG REASON I should also say that we came back here a second time when we were at the wake (for our uncle Jack - no relation to Jack Daniels) across the street at the Elks Lodge from El Liquor Store. I still don't think Rikka's dad or my mom (Jack was their oldest brother) knew of our little trek to spike our soda's and those of so many grateful cousins.... and our parents are not yelpers... sooo... *crosses fingers*... THE LOWDOWN We wanted Jack Daniels, we found it, and we got it in St. Maries. During a moment of high emotional need. [I'm sticking with that too.]

For St. Marie's - this place will have everything you need…read more Keep in mind it is a LIQUOR STORE, so you are going to find liquor, hard liquor. A pretty decent variety of the top shelves and the bottom shelves not marked up too horrible at all. They have the occasional special edition versions that come out which is neat to see in a small town. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. They have limited mixers or chasers so if you're looking for that and/or beer or wine take a trip down the road to the grocery store to find a bigger selection. Conveniently located and good hours of operation - just make sure to check out holiday hours if planning around that.
